Great place. I'm traveling from CT and have eaten here twice...pork belly special was outstanding and I want to eat at my lake house and they packed it up beautifully! I'm also sharing a pic of the swordfish from the other night...

River Grill is a new resto in Brandon this year. + Ambiance is chill gastro-pub across the street from the Fall where Mae's used to be. Looks updated and indoor and patio seating. While I was visiting, there was a steady flow of people to their patio (~4 tables / 12 seats). Their patio faces SR7. Menu is by QR, but they provide paper menus when they seat you. Generally clean and friendly vibe. + Food is updated American with interesting twist of local meats. There was an emu and pork meat balls on the menu. Apparently, there's a local emu farm nearby. I had a locally sourced beef burger with sweet potato hash. It came out with perfect medium rare and was tasty. Their hash was mixed with red peppers and while it had a nice texture, it was little oily. The only odd thing was their weirdly short fork. It was like eating with a kid fork, but that's the only kind of fork they have. Perhaps order finger foods. + Price is on the higher side but not unreasonable. ++ Service was friendly and prompt. Better than most VT restos....serious shortage of service folks and young people. + Parking is street and free

I love the river pub! My best friend just bought a house in Brandon so I'm lucky enough to come visit and eat all the delicious food in town. They have a cheese dip here that they put honey on that I think about all the time. Decent wine list.

Came here for dinner while we visited the area. Very casual, the food & drinks were excellent. Especially the Belly (pork belly) appetizer!

One of my must stops for lunch in the area. Always great service. Indoor and outdoor seating. Great selection of local beers on draft. Great music. My favorite dish is the TP Blt - smoked turkey, pork belly, greens, tomato, garlic aioli, and wrapped in grilled flatbread - delicious!

Saw excellent reviews and decided try this place. We made reservations for 5:30 and walked from the Brandon Inn. Got there about an hour early but the server took us right in to our table. We ordered Irish coffee, which was really good. Then we had Brussel sprouts appetizer which was surprisingly good and watched football. Sadly several large groups were turned away as they just don't have enough tables, but it was filled up by 5:30 with reservationists. Then we ordered. Kathy got the pork chop and I got the ribeye steak. Both were superb. The pork chop was juicy and the sauce was very tasty. My ribeye was cooked to perfection even though it was a little thin. The sauce and thin onion rings on it were marvelous. It also came with potatoes and cooked carrot strips. It was all wonderful. The service was tiptop. Our waitress was there whenever we needed something but wasn't helicoptering all the time. The ambiance was warm and inviting with a bar along one wall with TVs and maybe ten indoor tables and a few outdoor ones. We were100% happy and would go back in an instant. Can't recommend getting reservations strongly enough. You don't want to miss out if you're near Brandon, Vermont!

Food was good, there were some fun things on the menu like fondue. Yum! Cute patio for people watching and plenty of parking.

Food was great. I was with a group of 8 persons so we had a variety of items on the menu. Service at the bar from Emily was top shelf.

We are from CT and got to chatting with the owner, who also originally hails from CT, small world. Ripton Mountain Distillery makes several flavors of moonshine - they had cherry, apple pie, and creamsicle on our visit. They also have beer, wine, other beverages like White Claws, and food. It's a full service establishment rather than just a distillery. They have indoor and outdoor seating as well. They offered for us to do a tasting of the three flavors of moonshine - $3 each. I said I didn't want mine straight up so they made me a tasty cherry moonshine/club soda/lime drink which basically tasted like soda. It was very good! My husband drank his straight up and said they were smooth. He loved them so much that he got two bottles to take home, and a T-shirt. We had dinner reservations back in Killington, so we didn't order any food, but the menu looked good. Everyone was very nice and they even gave us some complimentary popcorn to munch on with our drinks. I would definitely recommend a stop here if you are passing through or staying in the area.

She seemed offended that I wanted the local alchol instead of getting food and a jack and coke. I walked in and was immediately hit by the reek of tobacco smoke. When I sat at the bar I asked for a tasting and the bartender yelled at me about how they don't give away free alcohol. That's fine. A lot of distilleries charge for tastings and I told her I would be happy to pay for a tasting. When I asked what they have she threw a food menu at me. The menu was just food, and didn't even list the house made drinks. I gave up and left as she yelled at me.

The restaurant was built around a 1921 Hacker Craft wooden boat, beautifully restored by friends of mine at Morgan Marine in Silver Bay, NY. The boat used to house an actual salad bar, pre-Covid. Now it's just a beautifully appointed mahogany boat in a big room just past the hostess station. The rest of F&I is a series of small and large rooms, some very intimate. There are artifacts everywhere (that you need to explore). Recently visited w best friend, Locomotive Breath (formerly known as Zagbolt). Sat at the bar. Seemingly lots of locals. Very capably waited on by bartender Andre. He was effective, efficient, and gregarious. Perfect young man for the job. We split a dozen wings (one of the specials which were smothered in an orange, peppery glaze). Delicious! I also had a cheeseburger w bacon. Perfectly broiled on a substantial bun. And onion rings. Plentiful. LB had a mesquite chicken panini w mashed. He loved it. Large selection of tapped and bottled beer, wine, alcohol of all kinds. One thing that kind of caught my attention was another patron's prime rib. Very fatty, on the thin side, $39. Did not think it was a good presentation or value. F&I is still one of the best restaurants around. Museum-like, and good food. Curtailed hours compared to years past, and looking for help (of all kinds). 4 stars

The light background music from Frank Sinatra Radio plays over the speakers, relaxing and not too loud. The dining room has a homey feel which is decorated which is dimly lit with plenty of old framed pictures on the walls, antiques, a few holiday lights, a couch next to a lighted angel, and a concrete floor. There are a few tables for large and small parties, a high top table and seating (6 high seats) with flatscreen TV and QuickDraw monitor at the corner bar. The menu offerings include appetizers, soups, salads, pasta dishes, chicken, steaks, seafood, desserts, soft drinks, beer & wine, plus a children's menu (12 & under). They also offer daily specials and the prices are fair. Each meal is prepared fresh to order. After driving back home from the North Country, I stopped by Champ's Corner Pub & Grill for dinner, at a campground of all places. I took a peek at the specials board near the front counter and took a seat at an open table. There were two large parties of older folks already enjoying drinks and dinner and a couple sitting at the bar. The server walked over with a menu and took my drink order (ice water). For a starter, the Wedge Salad ($7.95 plus tax), had a crisp iceberg wedge, topped with bleu cheese dressing, bleu cheese crumbles, bacon bits, chives and cherry tomato slices on each corner of the square plate. This wedge was a good sized and very good starter salad. A warm dinner roll with butter was served too. For dinner, I ordered the Baked Halibut Special ($22.95 plus tax) served with baked potato with butter & sour cream, fresh steamed green beans and lemon wedge. The halibut was a good size piece, thick, soft and flaky. The baked potato was very hot, already topped with butter, sour cream on the side. The green beans were nice and firm. I finished my big plate of food, but I had to pass on dessert. The check was $33.06 with tax and before tip. Overall, an excellent dinner with adequate service. I did have to wait a bit (12 minutes for the wedge and another 15 minutes for my dinner entree) since there was a large party that just ordered dinner as I arrived for dinner. I would definitely recommend stopping in here for a sold good homecooked dinner.
