Sometimes they have a food vendor come in or in the summer, they have the open area across from the brewery to enjoy for outdoor enjoyment (aka beer garden) where you can also bring your dog. From a beer perspective, we love trying all their beers which are fairly low in abv and very drinkable. They don't do flights but do half pours. Favorites are the American kestrel , any of the ipas really are great. They have a good variety of beers in cans to go as well. Kid / family friendly brewery. Bring a board game if you plan to stay long.

We are from CT and got to chatting with the owner, who also originally hails from CT, small world. Ripton Mountain Distillery makes several flavors of moonshine - they had cherry, apple pie, and creamsicle on our visit. They also have beer, wine, other beverages like White Claws, and food. It's a full service establishment rather than just a distillery. They have indoor and outdoor seating as well. They offered for us to do a tasting of the three flavors of moonshine - $3 each. I said I didn't want mine straight up so they made me a tasty cherry moonshine/club soda/lime drink which basically tasted like soda. It was very good! My husband drank his straight up and said they were smooth. He loved them so much that he got two bottles to take home, and a T-shirt. We had dinner reservations back in Killington, so we didn't order any food, but the menu looked good. Everyone was very nice and they even gave us some complimentary popcorn to munch on with our drinks. I would definitely recommend a stop here if you are passing through or staying in the area.

She seemed offended that I wanted the local alchol instead of getting food and a jack and coke. I walked in and was immediately hit by the reek of tobacco smoke. When I sat at the bar I asked for a tasting and the bartender yelled at me about how they don't give away free alcohol. That's fine. A lot of distilleries charge for tastings and I told her I would be happy to pay for a tasting. When I asked what they have she threw a food menu at me. The menu was just food, and didn't even list the house made drinks. I gave up and left as she yelled at me.

The food was tasty- I had the Jalapeño Smash Burger which had good flavor and a side of seasoned fries which were great also. I had a cup of the chili which tasted really fresh and clean- no fillers and the right amount of spices and nice chucks of chuck or brisket I think. They had Switchback on draft and it was a lovely day sitting outside on the porch. There are outdoor tables as well as a fun interior dining area with Diner style red booths. I'm not sure how far out of my way I'd drive to get here but if I'm in the area - Rutland to Middlebury or even Killington, I'd give it a strong thought. And this year was THE YEAR to hit up Vermont for skiing b/c they got more snow than they've gotten in almost a decade--so the skiing was the best east coast skiing I've experienced ever! And, if you're in Vermont skiing, you must drop by Main Mountain Bar & Motel. We weren't staying there as motel guests, but we heard that Main Mount was the place for fancy cocktails... and whoever told us this information was spot on!! Every cocktail we tried at Main was unique and super tasty. My favorite was the Good 'Ol Boy cocktail, but I also recommend the New England Sour--it's like a Whiskey Sour but with Mulled Wine and Cocoa on top. As for atmosphere and service, both are great! The interior decor is more like a cozy (but slightly modern) mountain house library (an atmosphere you might expect in a hip Brooklyn bar), and it's very inviting! And the bartender and servers are amazing and really friendly. As for food, we didn't try any on the first visit, but we ended up going back to Main Mountain on our last night of the trip b/c we found out that, on Sundays, they host a burger night! Ummm... yes!!!! So, we went back, I had another Good Ol' Boy, and we downed some yummy Smash Burgers and French Onion Mac & Cheese! Oh, and PLEASE order a side of their pickles!
