And this year was THE YEAR to hit up Vermont for skiing b/c they got more snow than they've gotten in almost a decade--so the skiing was the best east coast skiing I've experienced ever! And, if you're in Vermont skiing, you must drop by Main Mountain Bar & Motel. We weren't staying there as motel guests, but we heard that Main Mount was the place for fancy cocktails... and whoever told us this information was spot on!! Every cocktail we tried at Main was unique and super tasty. My favorite was the Good 'Ol Boy cocktail, but I also recommend the New England Sour--it's like a Whiskey Sour but with Mulled Wine and Cocoa on top. As for atmosphere and service, both are great! The interior decor is more like a cozy (but slightly modern) mountain house library (an atmosphere you might expect in a hip Brooklyn bar), and it's very inviting! And the bartender and servers are amazing and really friendly. As for food, we didn't try any on the first visit, but we ended up going back to Main Mountain on our last night of the trip b/c we found out that, on Sundays, they host a burger night! Ummm... yes!!!! So, we went back, I had another Good Ol' Boy, and we downed some yummy Smash Burgers and French Onion Mac & Cheese! Oh, and PLEASE order a side of their pickles! They are life-changing! Bottom line = check out this bar if you are in Ludlow, Vermont for skiing at Okemo or just visiting for some other reason. You are sure to love it like we did.

This place rocks…read more Over the summer I was renting a house near Ludlow, and I had to come down off a mountain to make beer runs, so I tried to stock up. But Vermont beer is just so good that I had to make a few runs. Each trip was a pleasure. From the vast selection of local craft cans, to the helpful staff, and the small but mighty growler station. I found it weird that Growlers could only be filled in the store's own glass, but I was told that was a state law. Now I have a little quart sized jug as a souvenir of my time in Ludlow. Well, that and the memories of the great beers I tried from Burlington, Foley, Frost, Upper Pass, and more. While I didn't need to pick up wine or spirits, there was also a significant stash of Vermont made spirits available too. A truly great place, with an ever changing assortment of brews. I was more than happy to give them all of my money.

I had a couple delicious drinks and the pork chops. Both my daughters had chicken parm which was ridiculously big. They loved it and took home almost half. Ticket sales were confused with the whole epic pass deal, the computer systems in the bar was not updated with what was being sold here which made the checkout process slow.

They are open from 11-3:30 and I like to eat early if we start skiing early or late if we start late. The 12-2 slots during weekends and holidays are a mob so I avoid those. Decent beer selection and fantastic food and service. This last visit I had a portobello, goat cheese and red pepper sandwich which was the best I've ever had. My wife enjoyed a "Artisan Caesar" salad. Not sure what was in it but she loved it. Von Trapp Brewery Pilsner and Heady Topper (that's right! They have both Heady and Focal Banger in cans!!!!!) rounded off an excellent meal I never miss eating here when I ski for a few days. I rotate between here and Coleman Brook Tavern which is also excellent. Make it a point to dine here at least once when skiing Okemo and you'l be glad you did!
