We enjoyed a nice meal this weekend at The Foundry and found everything to be top notch. We shared a dozen oysters (from Maine), I had the Chicken Marsala and my husband had the Steak Frites (med rare). Drinks had included a Dirty Gin Martini and the Tom Cat Gin Fizz. We also had a glass of The Calling's Cab Sauvignon on our server's recommendation and enjoyed that as well. There was a woman performing on acoustic guitar in another room, also played through speakers in our dining area - which was pleasant and non intrusive (I am usually against being forced to listen to live music while I eat, so I was wary but it was totally fine. She was great and had a lovely voice!) The main dining room we were in was cozy and inviting with a GIANT stone hearth. Really cool and glad we went. read more

Disappointed. The quality of the food has gone down in the last few month. Raw oysters the size of small, flat dimes with no flavor. My husbands steak was to tough to cut with a steak knife. Avoid at All Costs - A Disastrous Attempt at "Fine Dining" If you're looking for an actual fine dining experience, Foundry at Summit Pond is not the place to find it. This restaurant presents itself as upscale, but the reality is far from it. To start, nearly everything we ordered was over-salted to the point of being inedible. The risotto--if you can even call it that--looked like ground meat and had the texture of mushy porridge. Two people at our table ordered it, and neither could stomach more than a quarter of the dish. Despite this, our waitress didn't bother to check in or ask how anything tasted. How this dish managed to make it onto the menu, let alone be allowed out of a kitchen, is baffling. Service was just as disappointing. Instead of clearing our table, a busboy casually dropped takeout Tupperware on it, as if we were dining at a fast-food joint. For a restaurant that tries to position itself as fine dining, the lack of attention to basic service was appalling. Then came the final insult--the bill. Gratuity was automatically included, regardless of service quality, and a credit card fee was added even though we were paying in cash. A truly baffling policy that makes no sense and reeks of nickel-and-diming customers. Bottom line: DO NOT waste your time or money here. The food is poorly executed, the service is lackluster, and the pricing is borderline deceptive. There are far better options--literally anywhere else. read more

This seems to be a very popular place at the Killington ski resort. Call me a spoiled Newyorker, but I wasn't really happy about our dining experience there. The place is nice , roomy and very well decorated to the Christmas theme. They had also a live music which was a nice. As for the food, the oysters were probably the smallest and tasteless that I have ever tried. Snow crab clusters were way to salty and cooked wrongly, it was nearly impossible to extract the meat, a total waist. Crispy pork belly, duck legs and lamb shank were okay. All in all, it was okay but don't have a high expectations from this place. read more

Great atmosphere good food and good service. There's a place to sit outside, which we did not because it was the winter season, but will be back to sit outside and have our meal and drinks when it gets warmer. I'd recommend this place over the others that I've reviewed on the hill. read more

Friends and I decided to give the Foundry a try tonight looking for a good steak dinner and we were not disappointed! All three of our steaks from my hanger steak frite to their ribeye steaks were done exactly as ordered and delicious! Our server was very friendly and attentive making sure our food arrived on time and our oyster appetizers left the table when finished. A word on the oysters, ours were served promptly and the sauces were included. My friends Old Fashioned cocktails were excellent and my stout beer proved a great match to my steak. We all opted for dessert and all three were excellent but the winner was the Crème Brûlée were the maple flavor didn't overwhelm the Brûlée. Our corner of the restaurant was just out of the way from the live entertainment. Which was great because while tonight singer's show was decent being located where we were allowed for nice conversations. 2.5 stars would be more accurate because it was the definition of "mid". Service: we had an 8:30 reservation and it was clear they wanted us and it of there asap. Service was rushed and cold. Drinks: if you want to charge $20 for a manahttan or old fashioned you better darn well serve a whiskey rocks with it...not your ice machine glass full ice that turn it into water in 30 seconds. Brutal Food: honestly some of the most bland dishes I've had out in a while. A chopped salad that had almost zero dressing. Then a tuna tartare with absolutely no seasoning or glaze or drizzle on it. The meals were bereft of flavor. Gnocchi that throws the word "truffle" in it to upcharge an otherwise plain dish drowning in cream and cheese. And lamb lollipops that I kid u not we had to HUNT for the meat. It was ours bone. I never take pics at restaurants but should have here. Downright criminal. Went to the foundry this weekend when we were in Vermont and it was awesome! The space is extremely cozy but boasts some really solid food. We went for dinner with some friends and had our toddler with us and they were super accommodating. They had a live guitarist which was a great vibe overall. Killington is berift of good resturants. There are tons of burger joints, steakhouses, and pizza places, but very few (two I think) what I would consider white table cloth resturants with a chef in the kitchen. Not cooks; a real chef, I was hopeful that The Foundry would live up to my expetations but was also prepared to be disappointed. I met my low bar. I'm a single but my dinner came from the full menu served at the bar. Kudos for the extnesive wine list; really nice to see and much appreciated. Also kudos foir letting me order half a salad. I would also shout out to the service staff for friendlieness and attention to detail. Way to go. Keep it up and that's why you got a 30% tip. Now let's tear this dinnera appart. Thge Malbac (two glasses) was a very nice Argentinia wine. It was served well and at the right tempeature and had the head and legs it deserved. Not great, but very good. The price was right. Next was the 1/2 caesar salad (hold the egg please, but yes I would like anchovy). The result: no anchovy but also no egg, One point. The croutons might have been made last year and stored in the referigerator and forgotten until tonight. They were not mushy but were also not crispy. Come on! If you are going to have croutons, can you please make them yourself and if not at leat crisp them up in the oven. Awful Net score, zero. The main course was rack of elk with fingerlings. Overall good but it was requested as medium rare and served blue. Flipping them over revealed they had been pre-cooked blue and then put on the grill to warm them up. A quick way to try and meet the order but in this case it didn't work because the line cook didn't leave them in long enough and didn't turn them over. (Imagine, that this is the best I've found in Killington so far.) Desert was a forgettable too cold chocoate tarte defrosted this morning. But the Coutrea was served perfrectly by the bar staff and at the right temperature and in the right glass wear. Thank you. Total bill was $171.57 including a $30 tip. They get three starts. If your expectations are in agreement you won't be disappointed. But if you expect more be prepared to meet the low bar. Oh how I wish Killington had enoght of a critical mass in a "village" setting to attrack better resturants. Maybe some day. read more

Had a beautiful dinner outside on the deck while the sun went down this past weekend. Dinner prices here are a little higher because you're getting higher quality and perfectly prepared food. We had Maggie as our server and she was BEYOND accommodating. So patient and kind despite our table full of kids running around and being crazy ! We were happy to be the only two tables outside so as to not bother other customers or stress. The food was all amazing, some of the crustiest most flavorful bread I've ever had!! Mussels were insane, I got he chop salad with blackened salmon and it was to die for. Highly recommend this restaurant and next year when we are back we will return ! read more

We came in Friday night for my birthday as we were staying at the North Star next door. We were seated right away and our waitress came minutes later. They have a great selection of cocktails that were very strong. The dining room is beautiful and there was live music playing in the bar area. We ordered the scallops and salmon with sides of asparagus and mac & cheese. Everything was delicious and fresh. Since it was my birthday I ordered the creme brulee which was complimentary and my friend ordered the maple cheesecake which was to die for. Was visiting Vermont for fall foliage and stopped here for dinner. The vibe was awesome. There was a lit fireplace, high ceilings and live music. We walked outside by the lane while sipping on wine while we waited for our table Highly recommend the coconut curry mussels. Interesting and managed to not overpower with coconut milk. Good quantity too! They have a glass of sanjiovese for $10 so obviously took that. Their cider was also pretty great. See attached photo for brand Service was Good even though they were fully packed. The place is gorgeous. Okay back to food- the burger was only good not great. Mostly, I'm disappointed with the truffle fries. The potatoes were dry and over done The salmon was the STAR OF THE SHOW. I have a feeling they've enough business already, given how busy they are even in the sort-of off season (Women's World Cup weekend at Killington, weekend after Thanksgiving) -- so I'm going to review with a critical lens. Here's the good: Staff are just wonderful. They really are. They are hard working, kind, gracious, thoughtful, efficient wherever possible. A lot of the food was quite good. The atmosphere is lovely, with a woodfire warmed dining room and a separate bar room with a (good!) singer + acoustic guitar-playing musician who comes on at 6 p.m. on weekends. The wine program seems to be well curated and reasonably priced. Raw oysters were just $1.50 during happy hour (3 to 6 p.m. IIRC?). They were young, small, from the eastern coast of Canada IIRC, and fairly well shucked (no shell bits, but also little oyster liquor). They came with Tabasco, horseradish, mignonette, lemon, and tomato-based cocktail sauce -- all delicious. The mixed: The octopus duo Gallegas came with the loveliest, crispy croquette, and a nicely sized, nicely seared tentacle -- but the octopus wasn't well tenderized, tasted unpleasantly fishy, and came with a thick layer of "slippery" skin still on. It may boil down to a stylistic preference whether you enjoy this kind of preparation -- plenty of food cultures tolerate or even value the "slippery" skin -- but in all honesty, the fishiness and texture were not my favorite despite the otherwise skilled preparation. The "Chopped Salad" with the addition of chicken was enjoyable, not overdressed, but a bit skimpy on all toppings except onion. It seemed to be missing the crispy prosciutto included in the descriptor completely. If it was there, it was present in undetectable amounts. Hangar steak & frites came with the beef nicely cooked to medium as requested, served with a very nice demi glace sauce and enjoyable, but sort of soggy, oil-laden frites. It was early in the evening and maybe the fryer wasn't yet warmed up? Ribeye came pleasantly marbled with fat, and again came cooked accurately to medium rare as requested, with a side of mashed potatoes that the primary consumer devoured with enjoyment. We enjoyed the side of garlicky (I think sauteed?) asparagus, our bottle of fairly priced, well curated Malbec. It's a lovely, pleasant restaurant that I'm sure is PACKED during ski season. We haven't yet had the pleasure of trying many restaurants in the Killington area and readers should please understand that we're reviewing with a picky lens given the relatively spendy pricing. But know that the quality of food would not be out of place in NYC, the menu is commendably adventurous, and we certainly wouldn't mind a return visit -- especially for the music. read more

While this is a very lovely place to sit and enjoy the beautiful ambiance, my mother, sister, and I had to salt and pepper our meals. My mom and I got the same risotto dish that was very bland. My sister ordered a salmon burger which she rated a "3 out of 10." For the three of us and a six year old's order of chicken tenders, we spent over $200 for the most mediocre meal on our trip to Killington. Definitely a place to just sit and enjoy with a drink, not necessarily a full sized meal. Very nice people, good service, and beautiful view. Would come back again, but just to enjoy a drink. read more

Make sure you consult google maps info on the restaurants in Killington because the hours posted in Yelp are sometimes incorrect. Maybe the hours change when this town is in peak tourist season, but anyway, we ended up here because all of the restaurants we tried to go to in town closed at 9. This place was a more expensive than we wanted to do, but YOLO, the kids gotta eat! It is an absolutely beautiful restaurant with that ski lodge feel. The kids meal portions were enormous. It could feed an adult. 3 big ass brontosaurus chicken fingers and big bowl of mac and cheese. I had the burger was a bit miffed that it did not already come with cheese and would have to pay an extra $2 for it. Now I carry around my own cheese every where I go. Just kidding. The burger bun was...very sturdy. You know how sometimes a the burger bun just gives up on life and falls apart near the end, this one cant stop wont stop. :P The mushroom appetizer needed seasoning, in my opinion. And there was no browning or caramelization on them. Made me weep because I love my shrooms. Everything else was pretty good: the kids mac and kids chicken fingers, chicken sandwich, shrimp and crab cakes, and cocktails. I've been here a handful of times and it's always been a solid experience. Love the live music that often fills the room. Dinner is always delicious with some of the standout dishes being the salmon and then the seared duck breast. Seriously, the food is on point. With love music and good food, this is a good place to go after all day skiing. The prices can be a little on the higher end but I think this is probably one of the restaurants I liked the best around the area. Food wise our apps and entrees we're really good. I highly recommend getting the pork belly appetizer. It was nicely seared and a light coating of maple. Bummed out about my latest trip to The Foundry. I've been coming here for a few years and I've never had an excellent experience but because I really like the ambiance and decor, I've always gave them the benefit of the doubt and returned when I'm back in killington. This visit was very clunky from before we even stepped in the door. I called a few weeks in advance and made a reservation for NYE, the guy I spoke to on the phone was nice and accommodating. A week before we came to killington a manager called to tell me that the guy I spoke to wasn't authorized to give me a reservation so if we wanted to come, they only had 4:30pm or 10pm. We did not want to eat that early or late so we changed our reservation to 12/30 instead, because "I really like this place." So Ashley is our server. Ashley is a textbook case of passive aggression. I couldn't figure out what her issue was all night but she definitely deflated our meal with the way she acted and for no good reason. Regardless of Ashley, we ordered a few apps that were good- dates, tuna & the peppers. The apps were probably the best part of the meal. I ordered the NY Strip and my table got pretty much every steak on the menu- fillet, porterhouse, etc. My steak came on the well done side (ordered medium, should have ordered medium rare). It was charred... I'm not overly upset about the steak- these things happen. The table all had a similar experience. Charred steak a little over cooked. The Brussels sprouts were obnoxiously undercooked, I was really looking forward to them but I didn't even eat any. Mac and cheese was dry and the asparagus tasted strong of natural gas, as if it they sat on a burner leaking gas before it was fired up. It was odd. Alright so we eat our meal and then Ashley comes over and tells us we need to rush to finish because there's another table that's been waiting. Just want to note this is an hour and 15 minutes after our tables has sat down. We ordered 2 bottles of wine, apps and everyone got steaks. We asked for another round of drinks (we were gonna walk over to the bar, I remembered slow bar service last year so I figured we should back ourselves up). Ashley said no, that we should order from the bar. And I didn't have the energy to go back and forth with her. I couldn't figure out why a server would decline another round (increasing check average and we told her we were walking over to the bar so we wouldn't hold up her table). When we got our bill, we saw there was a 20% gratuity already included. And then it all clicked for me- Ashley was a terrible server because she didn't need to work for her tip. I also want to note that even with her poor performance, I'd never tip under 20% anyway but it just became very transparent that she didn't feel inclined to make any effort to make our visit pleasant. So we went to the bar, waited 25 minutes to never get served and we left. On the way out, our table (which Ashley kicked us out because there was "a party waiting"), was completely empty. No table was coming after us. Thanks Ashley. I'm done with this place. The service is terrible. The food is sub par and although the ambiance feels nice, the whole experience will kill your mood. If an owner is reading this, I want you to know that I've come to your restaurant multiple times year after year, have not had a good experience but continue to come back hoping for a better outcome and I'm finally throwing in the towel and moving on. read more

Don't waste your money or time here. This place used to be great and still has a nice atmosphere, but two years in a row I've had a terrible meal, so I'm done with them. The calamari was mostly banana peppers. The lamb chops were about the size of a quarter and cooked well done. Ate dinner here late on a Friday night while staying in Killington. Warm and cozy dining room with plenty of seating as well as a spacious bar area. It was quite empty upon arriving, so we were seated immediately. Service was friendly and there was live music in the bar area during our visit. We had 3 entrees and shared the mac and cheese "shareable" dish. While it was a generous portion served in a skillet, it was a bit bland to me. It was super thick and loaded with cheese, but the flavor was still very plain, to my surprise. My sandwich (salmon banh mi) came with truffle fries and I got over salted bits and pieces of mostly burnt ends. Barely edible. The tuna was served raw but smelled very fishy. I was a little concerned but thankfully did not get sick after eating it. The "baguette" it was served on was dry and a little too chewy...it was not a traditional french baguette but more like a long portuguese style roll. Overall not terrible, but not very impressive either. read more

This was the single worst dining experience of my life. I thought the worst part would be the 1.5-hour wait for a burnt steak and the lack of service that came with it, but later that night my partner became severely ill from food consumed at the Foundry. I hope the staff take note of this review and take the appropriate steps to address the food safety issues taking place at their restaurant. If they sort that out, they need to figure out how to run their kitchen and service efficiently. I will never return. read more

Average food with above average prices. Tried The Foundry for the first time on NYE and it was busy as to be expected. While the food was mediocre I wanted to say thank you to the staff. Y'all were great last night especially knowing how busy it was. We waited about an hour and a half to get seat which it about what I expected for trying to go out at 1830 on NYE. Found a spot at the bar, had some drinks all was well. Started with the Steak Tartar. Portion size was perfect for 2 people sadly they only gave us three pieces of crustini to eat it with. Flavor was ok nothing really to write home about. I ordered the NY Strip that comes mashed potatoes and added a side of Brussels. The steak was honestly just not good. Too much char on the outside, full if gristle and unrendered fat on the edges. Left me honestly questioning if it was actually a NY Strip. At least the cook temp was ok a little more that medium rare but close. Mashed potatoes were good and the Brussels a good addition just overly sweet as with everything with the "Vermont Maple" label. All in all a pretty underwhelming experience probably won't be back but glad we tried it. Maybe on a less busy night the experience wouldn't have been different. read more

This restaurant does NOT deserve only 3.5 stars. DO NOT LISTEN TO THE 1 star reviews. Out of all the restaurants that we've been to in Killington (4 already), this was the only place that would be worth going back to. Reasons: 1. Little bit cheaper than others (like Casey caboose) 2. Extremely good food 3. Awesome service 4. Accommodated us even though we didn't have reservations (reservations needed due to covid protocols. Clam chowder (4/5) the clam chowder was really good! It has a lot of bacon in there, they did not skimp out on it. It had good flavor and I like the potato squares in it. We asked for more crackers and they were happy to give it to us. Pork belly (5/5) I really enjoyed the pork belly! All the flavors went well with each other. I'm a sweet and savory type of person so I really like this dish. NY strip (5/5) omg this steak had soooo much flavor. It did not disappoint. A lot of places cook steak wrong and this place didn't! COMPLIMENTS TO THE CHEF. You don't even need A1 steak sauce. That's how you know it's a good steak. My BF asked for it to be cooked medium and THEY DELIVERED. I am not a steak person. But I'll come back to eat their steak. They were busy and there were some large groups but you could tell the servers were working hard and kept up. Our food was very good, service was prompt and food came out on time. So happy to have found this place not too far from Rutland where you can actually have good food. The arugula salad , the beet and burrata and the burgers were delicious. Expensive though!!! The staff was nice, a tad overwhelmed with being so short staffed but patient and helpful. The place is located across the ski slopes.
