We usually trek down the mountain into Rutland for our annual steak dinner, but with the weather being also sketchy, we decided to try The Wobbly Barn. We now have our new go to steakhouse. The place looks like your neighborhood tavern but the food was big time steakhouse good. Our server Sharon was personable, attentive and gave just real good vibes!! Poutine appy with shredded beef was awesome and my wife's butternut squash soup was like a dessert. Delish. The steaks were cooked to order and were just scrumptious. So was the half-rack of ribs the Mrs had. The desserts smacked of good old fashioned Vermont flavor especially the waffle with the maple sauce and ice cream. We will be back for sure. read more

This was a decent place to eat with our kids while staying at the Grand. It was predictably crowded for Saturday night and we had to wait 30 mins. They let kids into the bar upstairs until 9pm so we hung out and watched the band. Waitress was super nice and very busy. The food was decent but the kitchen might have a timing problem given one of our dishes with béarnaise sauce came out looking congealed but the sauce over the steak frites all looked good. The mashed potatoes were cold. The filets were cooked perfectly though so I guess that's what matters. They also were able to accommodate gluten free for many of their dishes so I had lots of options. The restaurant itself self was pretty cool. It was very barn like with low ceilings and wood everywhere. Cool looking spot. I think I would come back for the bar but probably would try something new if I wanted to eat. New owner! We enjoy happy hour with Jamie usually singing solo. They have free wings 4-6 (on Friday at least). 3 pieces per person with ranch or blue cheese dip. They are very meaty. Does anyone remember the days of the tacos? They were awesome. We'll have to have dinner there soon. read more

This was my first time going to the Wobbly Barn and not my last!! My friends recommended the duck and I am very pleased with my decision to get it! We waited about 10 minutes for a table and once we ordered our food it came out in a reasonably timely manor. The interior is a perfect compliment to a ski trip. Lighting and decor is fashioned in a 'rustic ski lodge' feel. I WILL be coming back and as much as I want to get the duck again... I can't wait to try the other dishes as well! read more

We enjoyed an evening here on the last night of their season. I'm sorry they are not open year round but we will definitely come back here again when they open next season. The employees were super friendly and the cocktails and dinner were fantastic. We enjoyed the Filet Mignon's with baked potatoes. We ordered wedge salads before dinner and also shared the best hand cut French fries and maple glazed carrots during dinner. The steaks were great and cooked as requested. We also tried a few sauces which were excellent. Honestly, we were too stuffed for dessert so we enjoyed some espresso martinis before we left. All Around 5 stars for our family. Oh my goodness, the Wobbly Barn is still there. Used to go here with friends 30 years ago. Now it's a steakhouse as well as a band/dance floor. If there was a steak house there before I don't remember. My friend who was in college the first time we saw the floors legit wobble, was an architecture major and swore it was coming down. Now with his own practice he noticed the reinforcements they had since put in and he was happy to see them. Food was excellent, service was great. They had a bit of an issue with the gas line for the stove and had to triage it right at dinner time and things were taking a little longer. However, we appreciated that they told us exactly what was going on and offered us some free bread. Oh that's the one thing I didn't like, is that they charge extra for bread for the table. However, food was excellent. My Disaronno Sour was excellent and quite different than the beer I had there last time thirty years ago. Great restaurant after a hard day of skiing at Killington. Absolutely fantastic meal and service! Do not let the history or the casual outside fool you! We had dinner downstairs at the steakhouse after deliberating where to eat in the Killington area for quite some time, as the price points are rather high no matter the cuisine in this area. I'm so glad we splurged and went for the Wobbly Barn because it was worth every cent! Our server was Will, who was absolutely incredible on every level! He helped us make the best choices every step of the way! Drinks: Dirty Martini with Blue Cheese stuffed olives - amazing Espresso Martini - not our favorite but we prefer more espresso than cream taste, still a great drink! Appetizer: The charred octopus appetizer was to die for - no wonder it's their #1 seller Main Course: We split the Filet & Lobster special as we were leaving the next morning and couldn't take leftovers with us. It's been a while since I've been here and it was not what I remember it being which was a bummer. Staff were nice, drinks were good, but the food was so-so. Very pricey for what we got. I stopped by Wobbly Barn after a full day of skiing at the Killington Ski Resort. One of the staff members there gave me a coupon to get a free appetizer so my group decided to check out this place.Turns out that Killington also owns Wobbly Barn so it makes sense that they would promote it at the ski resort. Overall, the environment of the place was great. There's an upstairs with a stage for performances and a bar. Downstairs is where the restaurant is with another bar. Service was very nice and everyone was friendly. Keep in mind that this place is a steakhouse, so all of the dishes have steakhouse prices. The 3 dollar signs is accurate. tuna tartare - tasted good. My recommendation would be to let up on the avocado a bit, I feel like it took away from the tuna. Maybe they were trying to mask mediocre tuna? I still enjoyed the appetizer though. braised short rib - VERY tender, delicious, would highly recommend. Unlimited Salad Bar (~16? The salad bar is great and has tons of options. Highly recommend the wasabi cucumber dressing. Loved it! The chicken Normandy I had a bite of and it was juicy and well seasoned. If you're looking for fun nightlife in downtown Killington, then Wobbly Barn should definitely be on the agenda. By name it's a steakhouse, but you'll only find a sit-down dining room on the lowest level. The other two levels are a massive bar / nightclub area, with a stage for live music and plenty of space to get yo' drank and dance on. Although the bar boasts an open and airy space, on a Friday night during NYE weekend it was slammed. There was still plenty of space in the stage area for some dancing, but it took 20 minutes every time we grabbed a drink. Not Wobbly's fault that they were super packed for a holiday, but they definitely could have had more then two bartenders behind the main bar. Slow bar service aside, we had a killer time here and I'm happy that we came. Cover will run you 10 bucks which seems very typical in the area, especially considering that they've got a live band. The band was entertaining and watching them sing covers of 90s pop bands plus free coat check and shuttle services definitely made up for the charge! Special shouts to Bobby who was one of the nicest bar bouncers that I've met in a while. Although Wobbly Barn's free shuttle didn't go to our ski house, he called a bunch of other shuttles for us to make sure that we could find a ride home. If it wasn't for him, I'd possibly still be stuck at Wobbly which wouldn't be very good. Downstairs steakhouse - 1.5 STARS Two-story bar (first/second level) - 4 STARS STEAKHOUSE REVIEW One of the perks of eating at the Wobbly Barn Steakhouse here is the complimentary cover to the awesome performances at the main/upstairs bar (often a $10-$20pp cover). Unfortunately, we didn't find the food nearly up to snuff. For starters, there was about a 90-minute wait for a table, which, for President's Day Weekend, was to be expected. My gripe, however (and a pet peeve I have with restaurants in general) is that they don't do call-ahead seating. Seriously, what's the difference if I physically go in and place my name on a list or if I call it in - if I wanted to ditch the restaurant, I could easily do so in either scenario. Fine, so we put in our name in around 6pm, left the restaurant to go back to our hotel, shower, etc. and returned at our assigned 7:30 time slot. We weren't seated until 8:30, and we were given the gamut of excuses by the hostess. Once seated, things took a turn for the better. Our waitress was very friendly and knowledgable of the menu and different cuts of steak available. There's a salad bar add-on option for an additional fee, but she told us to help ourselves to the fresh, homemade bread they had up there for no charge...thanks! ...And now back for the worse. Steak options run between $30 and $40 a plate. My ski bunny ordered the Beef Tenderloin Oscar (topped with asparagus, blue crab, and bernaise) and I selected the Rib Chop (a 16oz bone-in ribeye). We both noticed an odd taste to the crabmeat garnishing her steak - as if it was either fake or expired. Whatever the case, it wasn't good AT ALL. Her medallions beneath were OK, but certainly not worth the price. The same could be said for my Ribeye. Quantity over quality took a whole new meaning when half of my steak was PURE fat. I'm not talking fat nicely marbled in there - It was more like a penned up cow loaded with hormones who probably received little to no exercise... There are no burgers or sandwiches on the menu here - only appetizers, steaks, and the "world famous" salad bar (which to their credit looked very good by the way). Those looking for a good meal, especially one on the cheap: shop elsewhere. BAR REVIEW ...Phew, now that that's out of the way, I have high praise for the bar. Despite the fact that it's Killington-owned and laden with Budweiser ads/signs, this place is pretty cool. They've got a nice stage, decent dance floor, and plenty of sitting and standing room on the main floor. Go up a level, and you've got a wraparound "terrace" overlooking the music and all the action. We saw The Benders here on a Saturday night, and the crowd was a mix of ski tourists in their 20s, 30s and 40s, and a helping of teenage locals who probably had nowhere else to go (Killington has a great nightlife, but remember, THIS IS VERMONT after all!) The Benders covered en eclectic range of songs from Bon Jovi, The Lumineers, Journey, Nicky Minaj and more, and the DJ and band did a great job in handing off the music responsibilities, giving each other props on the mic, and above all else, keeping the music pumping all night! Light and sound technicians set up in the back ensured smooth visual effects and great-sounding music all night. Their work was definitely noticed and appreciated! OVERALL If they have a good band scheduled on the calendar (http://www.wobblybarn.net/site/entertainment/events), you may find it worthwhile to also have a meal here prior to save on the cover charges. If I were to do it all over again, however, I'd probably eat elsewhere beforehand and get here before 10pm, when cover is only $10pp...the steaks are just not worth your time or money. read more

(I'm 23 years old), gave the waiter my government issued New Jersey drivers license which they claimed was fake, then provided my boaters license, firearms ID card and old college ID card all containing my name, address, and birth date. They still refused to serve me. Guess they don't see many out of state IDs, probably for a reason. They are the only bar around Killington that would not serve me. You must come here for the steaks. After a day of skiing and your thighs are screaming and your body starves for protein fuel, this is THE place to top up and unwind. This restaurant is so popular they have a shuttle to take you from the resort and back. Of course like any ski areas, the food is over priced but who cares? The steak was so good you'd forget the dent in your wallet when you walk out. Our waiter was super nice and very knowledgeable and he seemed to have come from an upscale NYC restaurant as he was such a pro. Food was great - the chicken pot pie was not too rich and the biscuit light, the prime rib was huge and tender and the New York sirloin was blackened on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. Scrumptious! We didn't go for the desserts as we were so stuffed. We left the restaurant feeling content and ready to tackle the ski slopes the next morning. Bring on the powder! read more

A great night out. Our party was 8 people. Our server as well as the bussers did a great job keeping up with all of our needs. Plates were cleared quickly, water and bread was replenished frequently, and the overall professionalism made for a great night. I'll only mention what I ate since there's too much to talk about. To drink I ordered a makers mark old fashioned. Delicious drink, although I usually get it with a cherry and an orange this had an olive and an orange (unless it was a black cherry but I hate olives) Strong drink but oh so good. To start I ordered the grilled octopus. Great appetizer. The octopus was tender and flavorful, and it was served with peppers and onions. For dinner I ordered a NY Strip with a side of garlic mashed and bernaise sauce. The steak was cooked perfectly. One of the temperature choices on the menu was "blue" which is something you never see. The steak was of very high quality and they weren't afraid to serve me a basically raw slab of meat. The garlic mashed were soft and flavorful. For dessert I ordered a lava cake. If you've read my reviews before you'd know I always go with lava cake if it's a choice at a new-to-me restaurant. This was probably the best lava cake I've ever had. The fudge inside was melted to a perfect consistency where it didn't run like water but it still flowed when I cut it open. That wasn't the best part. The ice cream.. wasn't a traditional vanilla. It was something else as if I took a bite out of heaven. Overall. Great meal. Next time I'm in Rutland I hope we go back to this establishment. read more

This review is for the dining room and dinner only. I've heard the club/music venue upstairs is great. I can't say anything about that. The location is great. Nice big venue/structure along the left as you travel up the mountain road to Killington. It has a lot of history and everyone seems to know about it. Killington is known for a really good nightlife and party scene, and again, I can't review that. We went on a Thursday night, not during a holiday week. It wasn't too busy, but the dining room was reasonably full. The staff was friendly but clearly rushed, a bit short on help and staff. It took them a while just to get our drink orders etc, which isn't ideal after a day of skiing with kids when you are all short on energy. The waiter even got a bit flustered once with a smart reply to me, but judging by how far behind he was, it is understandable. Menu was appetizing. However the food was very average to below average. The famous salad bar - a few of us got it - I looked at it but decided against - not impressive at all. A salad bar has to be appetizing, and it was not. It looked much like a cafeteria salad bar. Plenty of selections, but nothing that jumped out at you. We started with a few appetizers, some steak tar tar, things to share etc. They were decent. The main course was pretty disappointing though. I ordered a steak. It was very average, cooked as I liked, but the seasoning and preparation/presentation was only so-so. My brother got the famous prime rib which was clearly not a standout to him. We were all ready to go and got out of there quickly after the main course. The best part of our meal was the Ben and Jerry's we picked up on the way home. read more

Wobbly morals - Andy (driver of the Wobbly Wagon) leaves women stranded After a long day of skiing, we were a bunch of car-less young women just looking for a ride. We were waiting for a shuttle to our condo complex from the K1 lodge, but after a full shuttle bus passed us by due to max-capacity, we called the Wobbly Wagon shuttle service requesting a ride to the Wobbly Barn for a drink instead. Over the phone, Andy reassured us twice that we would be able to grab a ride to the Wobbly Barn to enjoy a beverage. We made sure to tell him that we had our skis in tow, he replied that he would make it work in his vehicle. Once he pulled up to the lodge, and we got into the car, Andy was passive-aggressively and rudely lecturing us about how the shuttle normally doesn't take people from the lodge, doesn't typically transport skis, as well as repeating his beliefs that every skiier should bring a car to the mountain so that they can transport themselves (which seems to be the complete opposite of the idea of having a free shuttle to transport those who are drinking). In reality, it's both inaccessible, inequitable, and unsafe to promote this exact belief, especially considering the known risks of drinking and driving. Despite us apologizing profusely for inconveniencing him, he continued to berate us through entirety of the drive. Before we arrived, Andy abbrasively asked us how we would provide his tip to him. He said to us "I take venmo" and as the generous group of young women we are, we obliged. Once he dropped us off, he exited his vehicle and walked into the wobbly barn- we assumed he was speaking to his colleagues before he turned around and left. We stashed our skis around the corner of the building, although he had told us he would help us find a place to put them. Once we walked into the building, we were immediately told our ski boots weren't allowed (no greeting, just being immediately dismissed). Andy knowingly led us to this establishment and he should have a proper understanding of the rules of conduct and guidelines for this bar. He should never have accepted our ride in the first place it he was aware that they would not permit ski boots in their facility. Additionally, one friend in our group has long struggled with Reynauds syndrome, which leaves them very sensitive to the cold weather conditions in Vermont. We waited outside for over a half hour in order to grab alternative transportation, Andy passed us two times and did not ask us if we needed a ride home or to check if we were ok. One would think that an employee of the establishment whose job it is to transport people safely (really any good person with morals) would be helpful and kind to those who are clearly new to the mountain. Ultimately, we're sharing this review in order to warn the management at the Wobbly Barn that their staff would be hyper aware of the safety of women. Some kindness would have gone a long way in our situation, as we did the best we could to thank Andy at every opportunity for driving us to our destination. It is clear to us that Andy would not have treated a group of young men in this manner. He clearly took advantage of us, took our tip, and left us stranded at a bar we could not get in to--we were left ride-less, cold, disappointed, and thoroughly shocked about our experience at wobbly barn. Something must be done to remedy this so future women do not have a similar experience. Long live the pickle barrel! read more

Killington staple for a proper dinner. They don't take reservations and the wait can take some time, but you're welcome to get a drink at the restaurant bar or listen to music and get a drink at the bar upstairs to pass the time. The staff is all lovely and you recognize most of them year over year. The prices seem to have been going up a little over the past few years, but it hasn't scared us away...yet. Most recently I noticed the transition to steakhouse style ordering, meaning steaks no longer come with a side, but you can order a family style side to share with the table. The salad bar is quite expansive and can be a meal in and of itself. In addition to salad fixings it includes 2 soups and assorted hot bread. My preferred plan of attack is to find someone to share a steak with, order a side of mashed potatoes and then you both order the salad bar. It's more than enough food. Bonus is that if you eat dinner there, they give you vouchers to go upstairs and watch the band so you don't have to pay a cover. We took advantage of it last time and enjoyed the band, which was really good! Regarding the upstairs bar scene - the bands are usually quite good and the crowd is a bit more mixed than the Pickle Barrel. Had a blast here! Stopped by to see 3am Tokyo on a Saturday night. This place was recommended by hotel staff for a good time. We had no idea who the band was, but let me tell you- they were rocking!!!! It was a mix of hip hop, r and b, pop, alternative and rock! It got crazy. People were dancing. People were so wasted (lol, people watching was amazing). And everyone was having a great time. The place is set up with an upstairs that overlooks the stage. They didn't open it because it wasn't too packed at the time. The stage is cool, they have lights etc and it's elevated so you can see the band even from afar. Bathrooms were clean. Parking is plentiful. I didn't eat here. But I did have a few cocktails. Service is pretty quick. There is a little food corner there that does breakfast all night starting at 10pm. The smell of maple syrup was so enticing! I was a little surprised about the $10 cover fee to get it. It should at least get you one beverage at the bar. Ladies, they do have a coat check. It's free! So don't worry about the cold. Wear your jacket. Check it. Dance and have fun! read more

Bar manager walked up to us trying to intimidate us after serving us cold food and talking to us 1 time when we sat at the bar and asked "was there something wrong with my service?" I asked for the main manger and he ran away. Food was not worth the price at all. I usually leave $20 tips on $50bills when servers are superb. Parked on a cold night, hungry, checking out an endorsement for the barn, that a friend gave 30 years ago, yeah, we're slow like that. Name given, pushed onto the stairs to wait. Fourty five minutes, ok, it's Saturday night, busy season. After about ten minutes, we start hearing the hostess turn away new guests, continuously. After an hour into our wait, and we're about the only ones left still in line, I'm told the kitchen "is on hold"??? Asks if we want to wait another 15 minutes. Ok. Ten minutes later, the hostess chases the stragglers away "We're out of propane for the grills and heat, you have to go somewhere else." Propane is binary, yes, or no. Propane companies wont let customers in good standing, get down to half of their supply, and they're always waiting by the phone for emergency fills. Made no sense. Especially to keep it a secret. Our line mate walking out with us, smiled and said "Sounds like code for critter in the kitchen and they can't risk it getting to the dining room". I dunno, but somebody between the kitchen manager and hostess, ruined a lot of guest's evening and I'm still not sure why. We'll check back in 30 years. read more

Wow talk about an awesome meal! Came up to Killington with some friends and everyone wanted to order in but I was craving a juicy steak so I hopped in my Jeep and drove down to The Wobbly Barn Steakhouse. Only quam I have is that they do not take reservations, but in there defense they do have an awesome bar with a live band playing to pass the time. We had to wait about 45 mins for a table for two to open up and we enjoyed the music and a few brewski's by the bar. (we had to leave a credit card to hold the table as well) Time seemed to fly by and then that glorious moment happened when your buzzer starts blinking and vibrating in excitement! So we went downstairs gave in our buzzer, grabbed my credit card and was seated at a table. After sitting there for a few minutes I kept seeing these amazing steaks being delivered to the surrounding tables and my mouth began to water. I decided that I didn't need an appetizer being there was the option of a salad bar and I jumped at the opportunity. ( who doesn't love a good salad bar I mean come on) The salad bar had a great selection of choices to customize a salad to your liking and they had some pretty good soup up for grabs as well. I love seeing a salad bar that is well maintained and tidy with fresh vibrant veggies. We stuffed our faces with our salads and bread and waited patiently for our glorious filet mignons to arrive. My steak was a beautiful sight to see all 9 oz of it cooked to the perfect medium with a tarragon demi-glace. I decided that creamed spinach and garlic mashed potatoes were the perfect side to complete this meal. My steak was so tender that you could of cut it with a spoon. The mashed potatoes were delicious and my creamed spinach was a bit to salty but overall absolutely delicious. I made a small dent in my meal and had the most amazing left overs for the next day. I can't wait to come back and have another amazing steak and I think its safe to say that the Wobbly Barn has become my new favorite restaurant on the mountain. We were in town for NYE, and as such, options for bars were a little limited. It was a last minute booking, so we didn't buy any tickets to bars, but had looked online and expected to pay ~$60 for cover. The Pickle bar was sold out (before 9p!) so we went to Wobbly. They informed us that, despite the website saying $55, they were charging $100 a person. JUST TO GET IN. Unfortunately, we had no other options, so we went in. It's illegal to falsely advertise online, so there's that. On top of that, the drinks were pretty pricey and the service inside pretty shitty. We went for happy hour. They have a free nacho bar, which was decent and you can't beat free! There was also a band. This was on the middle level. Here is the problem, at the end of Happy Hour they tell you that you either need to move downstairs or upstairs for dinner. They will then reopen that level later. We were refused a beer because we needed to move to another level. It didn't make sense to us as we were not looking for dinner, we just wanted drinks. So....we left! Amazing food, people, ambience !! Loved it last year loved it this time. We stop by here for dinner after skiing. We had Mahi Mahi, perfectly done fish, spices are just right and not at all dry, nice and moist with rice on the side. We also love the salad and soup bar which is only few dollars with the main entree. Children's menu is also great $9 for a main entree (chicken, tenders or Mac n cheese) with salad soup bar.
