A little piece of charming Americana! We each had one of their homemade soups of the day. Cheddar Ale and French Onion were both excellent. Lots of onions and not too salty. I had a turkey sandwich that was actually roasted turkey - not deli meat!!! (but didn't care for the sliced cheese) We ordered coffee, and they kindly made a fresh pot for us. After being awake since 3:30 am and flying up from Florida, that coffee was medicinal!!! The lone waitress was very fast & efficient. We observed a lot of "regulars" arriving for lunch. I understand being sassy and fun but she didn't read the room. She ruined my little boys big day. He left hungry and unhappy. I hate to see my son cry. Food was bland and not cooked well. How hard is it to cook fries correctly? Pretty dang hard I guess. Salt and ketchup didn't do anything to help. I mourn the loss of a wasted chickens life. The servers were out on a smoke break when we first arrived, and were rude and unwelcoming from the moment we stepped out of our vehicle. Our server seemed very annoyed with our group immediately, for seemingly no reason at all. She was clearly trying to be funny with rude remarks, however there was nothing funny about it. On top of all of this, the food was extremely mediocre, worth far below the $16 price tag. I believe that if I went back to the kitchen with a blindfold on I could produce a similar cook job on the fries. I'm not convinced that the fries were ever even put into a fryer they were so raw! Scary service! Waitress was rude and unwelcoming. She was immediately annoyed when my family of 8 walked in. Accusing me of having an attitude when she was ungracious and ghastly towards us and other patrons while the kitchen was switching from breakfast to lunch service. Too much pressure for her. Unprepossessing outside and in, but we had heard good things, so yesterday when we wanted to eat but not to cook, we stopped here. Very, very glad we did. Service was rapid, cheerful, and witty. It's a small place, not at all fancy but homely, with a varied diner-style menu... except that the food turned out to be unbelievably good. The hot-open roast beef sandwich was generous, laden with plenty of fresh-roasted beef and homemade gravy. The cheeseburger was (and I am not exaggerating), the juiciest, tastiest cheeseburger I have ever had. French fries were a choice we made with both meals; they were also freshly made (from actual potatoes!), and perfect. I'm getting hungry just writing about it. We'll be going back soon, and often. I've lived in Bridport for about 9 months now and although I've ridden by The Bridge Restaurant on my way to work many times this is the first time I decided to eat there, boy I'm glad I did! It was Good Friday and the place was hopping, I didn't realize that I was in for dinner and a show. The wait time to be seated was less than 5 minutes. I ordered a Ruben and I have to say I was very impressed when I got in about 5 minutes. The sandwich itself was one of the best Ruben's I have had since eating at a famous deli in NYC. I will be going back, hopefully in less time than it initially took me to try the place out. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. So good I went back for breakfast the next day, and again it was awesome. Stopped in on my way home to New York from Burlington, VT. Fun, friendly, food stop. Food!!!! Had a great lunch...hubby had a Rueben and I had a turkey club. It was the best turkey club I've had in years. It was moist and delicious. Fresh cut fries were hot and cooked perfectly. Hubby's Rueben was lean and piled on. Hot cups of coffee and lemonade made it a great lunch experience. Staff...warm and inviting. So.....great food, large portions, and great services. Prices are more than reasonable. read more

Love this diner! Sherri the server is SO GOOD! She's a workhorse and is so efficient and pleasant and funny! We've become regulars and she often has our drinks on the table before we even get in the door. Lisa, the owner, is so funny and works her tail off! Homemade soups, gravy's and specials are such a treat. I highly recommend the French Onion Soup. Delicious coleslaw, homemade french fries and mashed potatoes, too. REAL roasted turkey breast, and the prime rib in the French Dip has become one of my most favorites. Save room for a slice of pie! Rumor has it Tapioca pudding will be back on the menu soon. The restaurant is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays and from Dec 23rd until the first week Feb. But otherwise - we visit often! read more

I was cycling with 5 friends when the skies opened up in a deluge. After being kicked out of someone's junk storage shed we went a bit further down the road to The Bridge. As luck would have it, Lisa, the owner, was out washing her windows under the buildings overhang. I asked her for mercy so that our drenched bodies could escape the drought breaking monsoon. Lisa could not have been nicer. Although the restaurant was closed, she offered to let us wait inside and made a pot of coffee for us. Her place was rec'd on our bike tour but is closed on Tuesday's so we missed a chance to sample the A1 menu offerings. We chatted about 30 minutes when the downpour stopped. We bade her goodbye and she wouldn't even take any money for her troubles. We'll never forget her warmth and generosity. read more

Well, you can't say we weren't warned. The place is just adorable and cozy. The food was really good. The service left a lot to be desired. The waitress greeted us by tossing two menus on the table and walking away. I was not offered coffee. Once we ordered and I asked for coffee, it was delivered and was delicious. My cup was kept full for the rest the of the meal, which is always a good thing. Despite a kids menu, there were no chocolate chips for the "teddy bear pancakes." Not a deal breaker - just surprising. The waitress actually rolled her eyes when my grandson stumbled a bit amending his order. Downright rude. Then, the wait began. Despite several empty tables, little food was coming out of the kitchen. The man who arrived just before us complained. He was carrying a musical instrument so I assumed he was on his way to a performance. His food arrived with lots of apologies. After a forty minute wait, ours did, too. Not a disaster, but a long time for breakfast in a not-crowded restaurant. Half way thru the meal, we realized that my grandson had not gotten the home fries he ordered. They, at least, came out quickly with sincere apologies. The food, I have to report, was absolutely delicious. It appeared to be a popular place with locals, as evidenced by the number of locals who came in. I witnessed coffee being served without missing a beat, so maybe it's a tourist thing. We went there in mid Sept. of this year. As mentioned by one other patron -we waited outside the inner door to be seated and were ignored several times as the waitress came near the door. We finally opened the door went in and asked to be seated . She pointed to the tables -we sat at one-she came by and threw a few menus on the table and then ignored us. She appeared to be the only waitress there -but if so-that does not mean she should totally ignore us and check on others We sat there for a good 5 minutes -she passed by us and did not even say a word. That's weird since other business locally are able to show pricing and not take advantage of our community and tourists. I would never recommend this restaurant ever. If you like diner's this is the place for you. They have large portions. The food was great my husband had a Turkey club and I had a grilled chicken sandwich. The fries looked to be hand cut and cooked to perfection. I think it was a moderate pricing. I would recommend it to anyone that understands it is a small dinning area and isn't afraid of deep fried food. read more

Here's a tip before you guys read my review: Walk in and talk to the waitresses because they're too incompetent to come to you. So, I drove from Wisconsin all the way over here and was hoping to grab something to eat because I was so hungry. I walk in to the front lobby and see this huge sign that read: "Please wait to be seated", so I wait. I waited for about 5 minutes and within that 5 minute span, the waitress takes a look outside the door and sees me sitting there, patiently waiting to be seated. She walks away. TWICE. I then proceed to make eye contact with her the third time around and she STILL walked away. At this point, I'm tired, starving, and furious. I walk out before my temper gets the best of me and say a bunch of things and cause scene. Mine the fact that this was all 10mins before closing so they probably just ignored me in hopes that I walk out, which is exactly what I did. So obviously, I didn't get to try their food, so I can't review the food. All I know is that I've NEVER been BLATANTLY ignored like I was here. Seemed like a nice, fun place to eat, but...
