First off, the positive reviews of this place make no sense. My partner and I have given this spot 2 chances. Once before the "new owners" took over and once after. We live close, and there's not much out here. I don't think I've ever had worse breakfast food in my entire life, so bland and honestly it made me sad to eat here both times. Same waitress both times, likely same chef by the taste of it. I don't think it can get worse than this. Save your money and drive the extra 20 minutes to Wheel Inn. Thank me later. read more

My wife and I stopped in for the first time in a Saturday morning and we're blown away by how good the food and service were. It's a small diner with lots of nostalgic local photos on the walls that give you a real sense of the community. Very clean, very intimate and our meals were absolutely perfect. My Grandparents used to visit this establishment years ago so I wanted to bring my Grandmother back to her old stomping ground. I asked her if it looks the same as she remembered and she said "Yes." The menu options were plentiful and gave a homey , comfort food feeling. The prices were reasonable for the quality of food. I probably would have plated the food to a more desirable look to appease the appetite, but the food was delicious and did not leave hungry or had an overstuffed feeling. The wait staff, kitchen staff were pleasant and have been working here for many years . I took up conversation to another person who had been coming here for years and he had nothing but positive things to say, he enjoyed his meal and left with a piece of pie for later. If you are expecting a 5 star meal of gourmet style do not stop but if you enjoy nostalgia and conversing with the locals then this is the diner for you to satisfy your tastebuds and growling stomach. This little diner was such a pleasant surprise. It seems to be out in the middle of nowhere and from the outside doesn't look like much. But, the food was excellent as was the service. The evening we were there, only 3 women were holding down the fort (1 waitress, 1 cook, and 1 dishwasher) and what an amazing job they were all doing. And with smiles on their faces and nice words for everyone who came in. And the place was hopping......no empty tables and quite a bit of takeout. I don't know how they managed but they made it seem effortless. And, this is clearly a place for locals. Not one person came in after we arrived that wasn't greeted by name. Everyone was chatting with each other. I don't know the last time I've been to a place like this.....it reminded me of some places we would go to when I was a kid. Staying at a vacation rental nearby. Decided to have dinner here because it was close and the reviews were pretty good. Vast disappointment. Good: the jalapeño poppers were good (though I prefer cream cheese to cheddar), the cheese cake was fluffy with a tangy sweet taste. Bad: service started out slow, unwelcoming, and then inattentive. Special requests were made, acknowledged and then ignored. (Turns out our waitress was new and was learning the job.) The food was below average for diner food. I had a cup of beef Barley soup with a grilled cheese. The soup was bland and not enjoyable. I didn't finish it. The grilled cheese was fine. Basic. I make better at home. My wife had the chicken and biscuits with gravy special. The chicken was shredded in the gravy. (Ala king style). It tasted ok, but the stuffing was barely warm. We ate less than 1/2 of it. We also ordered a half order of poutine. We asked for gravy in half. My wife likes crispy fries in her poutine. An odd, and nearly impossible request to fulfill. The gravy came covering the whole dish. It WAS good gravy. The cheese curds were melted nicely. But the fries-- they were terrible. I could barely eat them. Barely fried. Limp, mushy, pale things. We ate less than a quarter of the plate. When asked, we said it was "....ok" and left it at that. The regular server with the fabulous lavender pink hair did come over to help out and be social. But it was really too little too late. $60 for two people and sub par food and service. Won't be back. read more

We ate here in 2019 driving from a weekend getaway in Vermont back to Connecticut. We stopped here by chance and I haven't forgotten it yet. To the point I came online just now to search for the restaurant name so I could find info on how to recreate their ham hash. I see someone posted a photo so I'll now do my best to try and make something similar. It was HEAVENLY. We both enjoyed our breakfast here; it was nice people, fantastic food at good prices and fast service. I sure hope I can make it back there again. Five stars consistency of quality, service, cleanliness, and atmosphere. This is good old fashioned home cooking with generous portions and hot coffee. They remained at it, all through COVID, and they close one day a year on Christmas. 5am to 8pm. For a real local Vermont experience. read more

The food is simple country food cooked to perfection, the prices are right, the staff are friendly and welcoming. It's like eating at your grandmother's. Slow service, ordered a hamburger, greasy and not pleasant. I have eaten here twice, hoping that it would improve on our second visit. It did not. There does not seem to be any joy or love of the business by the owners.
