Breakfast Sandwich: Fried Egg, American Cheese, and Sausage on Rye Bread | Instagram: @telephonesmoothie

We were in need of some food after a long hike and stumbled upon this spot. We got there just in time before they stopped serving food. My husband and I shared: - Noon Mark's Famous Club Sandwich - Breakfast Sandwich - Side of Corned Beef Hash - Raspberry Crumb, Strawberry Rhubarb Crumb, and Raspberry Rhubarb Pie Slices The club sandwich really hit the spot. The breakfast sandwich was good, but the bread was too big for the amount of egg/sausage they give you. I'd highly recommend getting some pie too!

Stopped in for some late breakfast at this Adirondacks land mark! Easy parking in the lot in front of the restaurant but can be a cluster during high time. We were lucky to get a a spot at the bar and had friendly service. Took a while to get our foos but they were pretty busy. Pancakes were decent and the eggs with rye toast was very good. Toast came with strawberry jam!

A great stop en route to Lake Placid. Service is quick, and personal. Great place for families, hikers and everyone in between. This is a place where locals come in and are known by first name! They have gluten free options and have a dedicated fryer. Kiddo enjoyed gf chicken tenders and shoestring fries. They also have gluten free frozen whole pies/cookies and baked goods. Tried the gf apple crumb slice and it was just a tad too sweet. Those who aren't gf also enjoyed the food!

This diner has great breakfast options and large portions. The corn beef hash was really good. The pancakes, omelettes and breakfast meat options are great too. Stopping here for brunch if you're in Keene or making your way through is a must. The service is fast and it has your typical small town diner ambiance.

This review is sad to write because this place had so much potential! We had been eyeing it even before we got into town, and we were staying right across the street at the Roostercomb Inn. We only went once, and I usually like to go at least twice before writing a bad review, so bare that in mind. My husband went at 10:30am to order a couple of sandwiches for us to take on our hike. We had a reservation at 11am to hike Indian Head and Rainbow Falls. They told him it would take 10 mins. He waited there and after 10 mins he inquired about his order, and they told him it wasn't ready and that he was the 7th ticket in line. So he went back to pick me up and we ran to the market down the street for some water. The trail head is only 5 mins away, so we figured we had time. At 11:10am I ran in to grab our food and they still didn't have our sandwiches ready, but said we were the next ticket. I told my husband and he was pretty upset. So I told him to go in, since he placed the order. About 5 minutes later he comes out with the food, and we check it. He ordered a toasted ham & cheese sandwich and I ordered their "world famous" club sandwich. His sandwich was not toasted and was literally two slices of bread with cold ham and cheese and a bag of lay's chips. One of the waitresses could've literally thrown that thing together faster. He went back in to have it toasted as he had ordered it, and I followed to ask for our sandwiches to be wrapped so we could hike them out. It took another 10 mins or so for this to happen. We were encroaching rapidly on the 1 hr mark since ordering. There were many tables that were visibly upset from not getting their food as well. One customer told me there was an iron man down the street affecting their wait times. Another said that the waitresses all were off that day and the staff was new. I'm not really sure what was the issue, but a little communication would've gone a long way. Also, after that bad of an experience, it would've been nice to either be offered a discount or a complimentary item to make up for it. Maybe one of their pieces of "famous" pie, or a muffin, idk. But not just ignoring the situation and moving on. We probably would've eaten there multiple times during the week we were in town, but we couldn't be bothered to waste our time or our money again. His sandwich was $7.25 and my club was a whopping $12.45. It wasn't until I hiked up to Indian head and sat down for lunch that I realized they hadn't put any ham and it was about 4 inches of turkey! Picture attached. There was bacon, a slice of tomato, and a piece of lettuce. It DEFINITELY wasn't the "world famous club sandwich" they boasted about on their menu. I hope this review helps other Yelpers make an informed decision about where they eat! Check out my reviews to see the other spots I ate at in Keane Valley, a few which deserved 5 stars all around!

If you are coming here after hiking for the day(s) and not having a 5-star experience there is something wrong... and it's not with this diner. A gem of the Adirondacks with the history, friendly staff and an amazing menu with legendary pies! It's so good people come in for the pie as their breakfast. I had the eggs Benedict & a Reuben sandwich after a grueling 30 mile hike the day prior. My friend got the lasagna & an omelette. This was like waking up in heaven after brutalizing our bodies on the trails yesterday. The attentiveness and welcoming energy of the staff makes you feel right at home.

We were in the mood for lunch and they were only serving breakfast that Sunday. So, we opted for the most lunch-ish thing available that wasn't too heavy. Bagels and cream cheese. They were perfectly toasted and there was plenty of spreadable cream cheese. It made for a perfect light lunch. I don't eat eggs, so it did limit my options. If you do eat eggs, their breakfast dishes with eggs look amazing. Of course, we tried the coffee. It was very good and we loved the mugs. The place is rustic-charming. The service was good. It's a busy place. We loved the regulars who stopped in and didn't even need to say what they wanted. The servers already knew. The service is good but slow. Not sure if that's because they were busy or if they're just not the type to rush things. The bathrooms are clean. There is an up-charge for credit cards. It's hard to resist buying mugs and coffee to take home. The cookies were so hard to resist we bought some to keep us snack-happy on our travels. Definitely a good place to stop.

While I haven't had the opportunity to try the entire menu just yet, I can say confidently the home fries live up to the hype. I understand why they're called home fries because they reminded me of home. It looks like they're doing some renovation on the second floor, I wonder if that'll result in even more seating. If that's the case then it'll take this cafe to the next level.

I loved that each item had the simple ingredients listed with it on the name-- this made it easy for needing to ask if you have food allergies, but also terrific to see that the treats are made with basic ingredients like you'd use at home! I tried a snickerdoodle whoopie pie with cream cheese icing inside. The cookies were perfect and the frosting was a bit on the super sweet side but that's how I like my frosting so it was delicious! My mom got a slice of pie- the flavor was pretty good but since it was kept in the fridge, the crust lost a bit of the crunch/flakiness. We bought a take and bake frozen raspberry pie for the next time we have guests over. Mom also got a brownie, which she said was very good as well. The wide selection of pre made salads and sandwiches looked great as well as the large selection of take and bake meals and side dishes. This is my favorite type of a local gem to discover. It's a perfect spot to stop on the way to or from Lake Placid. I actually visited twice in the same day! It's open Friday-Monday (as of when I visited in November'23). I think I'll actually head back to that area next weekend and stop back in to pick up a few gifts and some more baked goods! Update--- We also did end up going back to the shop the following weekend for some more shopping. Customer service could use some improvement. **As I said in my main review, we bought a frozen pie to take and bake. We baked it for Thanksgiving l there was no scent while it baked which was unusual. It wasn't the prettiest looking when it came out of the oven. More unfortunately, no one liked it! My mom said it was the worst she's ever tasted. The crust was so thick and the filling and crust both had a strange aftertaste. This was very disappointing because the treats we had in the store were delicious. If the review was based only on the pie, I'd be a 1/5 stars.

Cavu was at the top of their list! And with their description of planes taking off and landing nearby, we thought it would be the perfect spot to bring our toddler. To access the restaurant, you have to walk into the airport. I've never been in such a tiny airport before! The cafe space overlooks the tarmac, but we were a little bummed that we only saw one plane takeoff while we were eating. We aren't locals and assumed there would be more! But that wasn't an issue. Plus, once my toddler started to get fussy, the staff whipped out a coloring book and some crayons. It was so so kind of them and nice that they were prepared. The food was excellent as well. My husband got the hash and eggs and was very pleased with the big hunks of corned beef throughout the hash. I tried his homefries and they were also delicious! From the welcoming "a place upstate" Adirondack chair out front to the cozy, shingle-sided exterior, this spot perfectly captures that rustic, high-peaks aesthetic. But it's the quality of the brew that truly sets it apart. The Espresso The espresso at Capisce is a masterclass in balance. It's rich and full-bodied with a velvety crema that hints at the care put into every pull. You won't find any bitterness here--just a smooth, complex shot that serves as the perfect foundation for their signature drinks. The Lattes Whether you need to warm up after a chilly morning at the lake or cool down after a mountain bike ride, their lattes are top-tier: Hot Lattes: The milk is steamed to a perfect micro-foam consistency--silky, sweet, and light. It blends beautifully with the espresso, creating a comforting drink that feels as artisanal as the surroundings. Iced Lattes: These are exceptionally refreshing. They manage to keep the espresso flavor front and center without letting the milk or ice wash it out. It's the ideal companion for a sunny afternoon on the patio. The Atmosphere There is something uniquely relaxing about grabbing a drink and sitting among the trees and rocks outside this cabin-style shop. It's clearly a favorite for locals and travelers alike, and for good reason--the "upstate" vibe is genuine, and the coffee is world-class. The service is full of happiness.
