Love it here! This is such a staple in Keene. Every time I'm here I visit this diner. I ordered the coffee, OJ, omelette and got boxes of pastries to go. This place used to be the best. Unfortunately the vibe has changed. The employees don't give a shit and they certainly don't know how to multitask. There's absolutely zero hustle. Tables go unbussed for long periods of time while a line backs up at the door. And while you stand there you're warned about how backed up the kitchen is. It's as if they don't want people sitting down. I know Covid was hard on this place; it was hard to find people to cook and serve but the attitude from that era has lingered and it's destroyed what this place once was; a chill diner with a great menu and great service. Cute little diner type place! We stopped in for breakfast/brunch. You can tell everything's (or close to everything) is homemade. A great stop en route to Lake Placid. Service is quick, and personal. Great place for families, hikers and everyone in between. This is a place where locals come in and are known by first name! They have gluten free options and have a dedicated fryer. Kiddo enjoyed gf chicken tenders and shoestring fries. They also have gluten free frozen whole pies/cookies and baked goods. This review is sad to write because this place had so much potential! We had been eyeing it even before we got into town, and we were staying right across the street at the Roostercomb Inn. We only went once, and I usually like to go at least twice before writing a bad review, so bare that in mind. My husband went at 10:30am to order a couple of sandwiches for us to take on our hike. We had a reservation at 11am to hike Indian Head and Rainbow Falls. They told him it would take 10 mins. He waited there and after 10 mins he inquired about his order, and they told him it wasn't ready and that he was the 7th ticket in line. So he went back to pick me up and we ran to the market down the street for some water. The trail head is only 5 mins away, so we figured we had time. At 11:10am I ran in to grab our food and they still didn't have our sandwiches ready, but said we were the next ticket. I told my husband and he was pretty upset. So I told him to go in, since he placed the order. About 5 minutes later he comes out with the food, and we check it. He ordered a toasted ham & cheese sandwich and I ordered their "world famous" club sandwich. His sandwich was not toasted and was literally two slices of bread with cold ham and cheese and a bag of lay's chips. One of the waitresses could've literally thrown that thing together faster. He went back in to have it toasted as he had ordered it, and I followed to ask for our sandwiches to be wrapped so we could hike them out. It took another 10 mins or so for this to happen. We were encroaching rapidly on the 1 hr mark since ordering. There were many tables that were visibly upset from not getting their food as well. One customer told me there was an iron man down the street affecting their wait times. Another said that the waitresses all were off that day and the staff was new. I'm not really sure what was the issue, but a little communication would've gone a long way. Also, after that bad of an experience, it would've been nice to either be offered a discount or a complimentary item to make up for it. Maybe one of their pieces of "famous" pie, or a muffin, idk. But not just ignoring the situation and moving on. We probably would've eaten there multiple times during the week we were in town, but we couldn't be bothered to waste our time or our money again. His sandwich was $7.25 and my club was a whopping $12.45. It wasn't until I hiked up to Indian head and sat down for lunch that I realized they hadn't put any ham and it was about 4 inches of turkey! Picture attached. There was bacon, a slice of tomato, and a piece of lettuce. It DEFINITELY wasn't the "world famous club sandwich" they boasted about on their menu. A gem of the Adirondacks with the history, friendly staff and an amazing menu with legendary pies! It's so good people come in for the pie as their breakfast. I had the eggs Benedict & a Reuben sandwich after a grueling 30 mile hike the day prior. My friend got the lasagna & an omelette. This was like waking up in heaven after brutalizing our bodies on the trails yesterday. The attentiveness and welcoming energy of the staff makes you feel right at home. read more

This place tried to make things right but ended up making it worse. We came in with nine and split between two tables which is always ok with us. Kids (5) and adults (4). We ordered and the kids were done before we ever saw our meals. Other tables were filled and fed before us as well. I asked about the delay with our table and they apologized and offered to give the kids ice cream. Nice gesture, so we thought. So our food finally comes and I ordered the $16 (only comes with chips too) "famous club sandwich" based on the photos. I look at the sandwich received and said this can't be the same sandwich. The waitress even said "you are right, this looks way too skimpy." I was told a story about the weight of the meats and this was what turkey looked like, and then showed her the pictures online of the turkey version...speechless. Ok. She brought me more turkey. Thank you, very nice, just disappointing. Was tasty. We get the check and it had a locals discount of 10% to make up for the delays and my lack luster club. Guess what was on the check? The ice cream! Are you kidding me?! The manager was the one that offered the ice cream to make up for it and our waitress said even she thought it was a comp. When I asked the manager, she acted like we ordered this ice cream deliberately. What?! Since my wife is very non-confrontational and I was actually just having a rationale discussion with the waitress, she was uncomfortable, so I paid it. The waitress brought us a complimentary fresh baked small pie which this place sells a lot of. Thanks again waitress. She gets it. The manager reminded me she gave me a locals discount (-$12.86) as she walked away. Thanks. The ice cream you offered the kids was over $20. The waitress got the full 20% gratuity that was already on the check. I'm glad for that but I must mention that the diner actually told us they were ran as two tickets when they were scrambling to explain the long delay between meals so the auto gratuity actually shouldn't have been applied, on their own admission, so Yelpers beware. Funny but not funny for me moment before leaving, the table beside us got a club and it was 3 times the size as mine. The waitress even said "yup, this looks better". Hindsight, we should have waited a few more minutes at Forty Six in Keene, just four miles down the road. read more

Always a guaranteed good breakfast at Noon Mark. When in Keene Valley, we go to the Noon Mark for breakfast, for many years now. My husband enjoys their fresh baked goods. This weekend I enjoyed their homemade corn beef hash with poached eggs. I got hash to go to take home! Sometimes we get the homemade pies to take home. Always good friendly service. I'll be honest, there aren't a lot of options in Keen, but that doesn't mean the primary option is an "only resort" but rather an excellent only option. We didn't eat pie on this occasion, but they LOOK delicious and people come all over for the pie. It's worth the trip if you're nearby. We were there for breakfast after staying nearby overnight and before heading out for our retreat on Saranac Lake. We got to sit outside which was perfect in the late August cool sunshine the Adirondacks are known for. I think we all got the Hikers Plate which is a standard diner egg breakfast. It was served quickly, the eggs were cooked perfectly and the real determiner: the hash browns were flavorful and amazing! I am usually only upstate once a year but I'd come back for sure. read more

My wife and I have been meaning to try Noon Mark for awhile. Today was the day. I put in an order with the young dark haired waitress at the register: meat lasagna with rye toast and mushroom soup, and mushroom soup for my wife. The soup came pretty fast, and it was delicious. The rye bread that came with the soup was good, but 100% not toasted. I mentioned this to the waitress and she immediately replied "they only toast it lightly." OK- the bread had never been inside a toaster, but I'm not going to argue. Eventually the lasagna came, and I immediately saw it was spinach lasagna, not meat. (BTW the rye bread that came with it was nicely toasted, so so much for that lie.) I showed my lasagna to the waitress- no meat, only spinach. She looked me in the eye and said- "it's meat, I saw them make it." I really wanted to like Noon Mark, but someone in management should talk to this rapid fire liar of a waitress. Maybe she thinks people who are not local, who are passing through with kayaks on their car, are just stupid, and don't know the difference between spinach and meat. She recommended the lasagna and I specifically asked for meat- I hate spinach. When I showed her it was only spinach she should have replaced it. Too bad I had already tipped her at the register when I paid. She didn't deserve a tip- she deserves to be fired. read more

I called Noon Mark on a Monday - so many restaurants here are closed on Monday and though the website said open I have seen them have to randomly close for various reasons and I've watched people drive in and try their door thinking they were open when for some reason they weren't so I called before I made the 20 minute drive one way. Some woman answered and when said I was calling to make sure they were open for lunch today she said "No Honey I just stand here waiting to answer your call to tell you we aren't open." I am trying to find anywhere for lunch so that my sister-in-law who is visiting can spend some time with my mother who has Alzheimer's. I am trying to make sure we don't drive all the way over there and have them be disappointed. Everything is a struggle right now with my mom and this wasn't a kind thing to say to me. A diner with gluten free options - HECK YES! AND majority of the items are home made - DOUBLE HECK YES! The owner has celiac - which means they understand about the need for a dedicated fryer for items to be gluten free. The entire back page of the menu is dedicated to gluten free options for typical diner fare - breakfast items, sandwiches, but some surprises like chicken tenders or fried calamari are also on the menu PLUS desserts - that can also be dairy free. I ordered the NOONMARK CLUB - and ordered with with turkey - it was a triple decker sandwich - the kind I used to LOVE to order before my diagnosis. I ordered sweet potato waffle french fries which were hand cut and cooked to perfection! Down side - I stated I had Celiac Disease, and asked that my husband order gluten free french fries as well - they came out on his plate with a gluten bun - I should have specified they be plated separately, but assumed the waitress would know not to let them cross contaminate - and when we stated I couldn't eat them, the waitress seemed a bit confused, and I rephrased that they needed to be separate to avoid cross contamination - we had to wait a few minutes for a new order to come out, but they were worth the wait. We were still charged a second order of fries..in the grand scheme of things not a big deal BUT important to always note that JUST BECAUSE there is a gluten free menu it does NOT mean that all wait staff understands the severity and precautions needed to be taken. Walked in with a party of 8. The place was not entirely busy we got our order in and coffee juices quickly. Hour later we go to the manager and ask if we are going to get out food soon. Waitress comes over and says it will be another 20 minutes kitchen is busy. I am sorry but a party of 8 walks in and gets a table everyone that walked in after us for 40 minutes got a table you are not too busy to cook up breakfast in less than an hour and 20 minutes. No apologies. We got up and left, put money on the table for our drinks. Then they all say have a good day as we are leaving not apologizing for a thing. After a few strenuous hikes in the mountains, there's nothing like a diner breakfast. This is a popular spot in this small town. Be prepared for it to be busy during prime dining hours. They're open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Service can be a little slow at times so hopefully you're not in a rush. Get a seat outside if you can, the view of the mountains is lovely. We've come strictly for breakfast. The "Ed" breakfast sandwich or two eggs over-easy with sausage and toast are my go-to options. The bacon on the breakfast sandwich is perfectly crisp and a solid portion for the roll. Just what I wanted in a BEC after a long hike the day beforehand. Sausage links are also tasty. Plus, they have real maple syrup for their pancakes/french toast, and a sweet homemade raspberry/strawberry jam that pairs wonderfully with their homemade breads. Lots of gluten free options as well! Plus, pie! They have a whole host of baked goods. We saw several people pop in to pick up to-go orders. There's also an ice cream window. One of our favorite stops in Keene Valley.
