The sandwich maker was quick, we did not wait long. It was a quiet Sunday. We did take out and found a nice spot by the lake to enjoy a Sunday afternoon picnic. The bread was soft and nicely sliced, the turkey was piled high. The maple mayo mixed well with all the sandwich ingredients. What a treat! We will be back!

I was looking for things to make a Russian New Years celebration feel more at home and they had all sorts of things: like traditional black bread, red caviar, smoked herring, deli meats, pickled mushrooms and more! They had frozen desserts and entrees as well from Poland, Russia and other Eastern European countries. I do wish they had some more prepared pre-made salads that one could purchase by the pound, but the son of the shop owner was very helpful in explaining the products as he worked the register. We bought a take and bake frozen raspberry pie for the next time we have guests over. Mom also got a brownie, which she said was very good as well. The wide selection of pre made salads and sandwiches looked great as well as the large selection of take and bake meals and side dishes. This is my favorite type of a local gem to discover. It's a perfect spot to stop on the way to or from Lake Placid. I actually visited twice in the same day! It's open Friday-Monday (as of when I visited in November'23). I think I'll actually head back to that area next weekend and stop back in to pick up a few gifts and some more baked goods! Update--- We also did end up going back to the shop the following weekend for some more shopping. Customer service could use some improvement. **As I said in my main review, we bought a frozen pie to take and bake. We baked it for Thanksgiving l there was no scent while it baked which was unusual. It wasn't the prettiest looking when it came out of the oven. More unfortunately, no one liked it! My mom said it was the worst she's ever tasted. The crust was so thick and the filling and crust both had a strange aftertaste. This was very disappointing because the treats we had in the store were delicious. If the review was based only on the pie, I'd be a 1/5 stars.

However I have recently started helping Lakeside House clients, who often request stops to this place. They rung up as $5.?? each, for the total to then magically bounce up an unexplained extra $5 for a total of $20. The lady had a plastic bag ready, then decided not to bag them last second. When I asked for it, she told me I should have brought my own bag!! When literally other customers in store were given bags, as were my buddies, no issues given. Worse, they treat their customers like crap across the board indirectly! They refuse to allow *paying* customers to use the Wi-Fi in a *known* dead zone, strangely at this location specifically. They have several different hostile and unwelcoming signs/ messages everywhere outside the building. Just one of them being "10 minute parking only!" So if they take longer than 10 minutes to make your sandwich, they also gonna threaten to tow!!!?? The only reason I imagine people go here is to get stuff no one else in town has, like specialty snacks and beers I've also personally never seen elsewhere. The men have been somewhat nicer, but still can't even get a smile, ever. Someone needs to get rid of miserable rude granny, and while at it get the whole place's behavior to shape up. I'd wager to bet many folks prefer to hike a bit and then eat, so this makes sense to me. Prices were ok for the area. Pricing is reasonable for what you get. I ordered a chili dog which was one of the local upstate brands, so it was stellar. Wish they went lighter on the chili/cheese, but I just removed it and ate with the homemade chips. My son liked his fries, and my wife liked her food too. I wanted to get the trout I see on menus online, but it's no longer on the menu. Got a shake too which hit the spot. I'm eating this place what it deserves, which is not bad at all. What bugged me is that the reviews were off here across different platforms; folks were making this sound like a full blown restaurant, when it's just a family-owned food stop for the trail. We went out of our way so want to guide others, even if it was ok in the end. Keep your expectations in check.
