Maybe I'm biased because I grew up in town, but even after living away for 30 years, this place is always great to come back to. The people are friendly, the food is solid, and the prices very reasonable. Took my sister-in-law today who had never been there and she is still talking about the "best patty melt I ever had!" Small town diner. I wasn't expecting to be "wowed" (and I was so right). Decor consisted of old tables (wobbly) and chairs. Food was over priced (more on this later) and pretty much tasteless. My companions order a single pancake with their dish and was charged for a full order of three. When quizzed, waitress said. "That's right." $17 for two small pancakes!!! Almost a complete ripoff. Hubby and I waited for 15-20 minutes due to this being the only place in town that serves breakfast on Sunday morning?! All the wait staff were very busy but not that efficient. We have now finished breakfast and people are waiting and there are 4 tables right around us that need to be cleared. There is a rolling cart with bins for dirty dishes but instead of rolling to cart out so that all these tables could be cleared at once the waitresses are clearing them one at a time going back and forth wasting time and steps! When we finally got out breakfast it was just as ordered and fresh, hubby had an omelet which was tasty and I had an egg with biscuit (way too big?!) and gravy with sliced tomatoes also very good. Very pleasantly surprised by this little diner! Older dining room, but very good food. My Reuben sandwich was exceptional, you could taste all the spices in the pastrami, and the sauerkraut was fresh and crunchy. The burger with onions, cheese, and BBQ sauce was also delicious, very juicy and flavorful. Fair prices, good looking desserts, though we were too full to get any. Fast, friendly service. Parking out front. Very sensitive to my food allergy. I have a severe shellfish allergy, and there were plenty of things I could eat that hadn't been fried with shrimp. We had an okay experience at Hot Biscuit. We were camping at Rogers Rock so it was convenient to come here for breakfast. We were seated around around a 20 minute wait and then seen around 15 minutes after being seated. We got our drink order and food order and weren't seen again until our food got there 45 minutes later. They must have been understaffed which I completely understand but we were not really checked on after the food was dropped. We also had to go up to the counter to pay. All of the staff was very nice though! The food was good. The biscuits were soft and the gravy was pretty good! The home fries were yummy. The ambiance is very homey and country feeling. Overall, pretty average experience but not bad. read more

Craig was our chef and the owner of this quaint local diner. Besides being happy to prepare the food to order (if you have allergies or other preferences) if he isn't too busy he can easily be approached with any questions about the amazing wealth of authentic farm and cultural artifacts on display. Almost everything you see has a story that he will happily share. This place was his mother's dream and she collected most of what you will see here. As for the food, the omelette and 2 eggs over easy, both with home fries with onions were very well prepared. The waitress/cashier was pleasant and attentive. The service was impeccable & the portions were huge. Most of the food was very very tasty. But overall it was okay. Chicken tenders were straight outta the frozen food bag. As was the seafood. The biscuits were super tasty and the biscuit gravy was delicious. But my fried vegetable app, while advertised with mushrooms on the menu FIRST, contained no mushrooms. The side of brown gravy was bland. The side of baked beans was flavorful and pretty to look at. I'd say maybe this is more of a breakfast place. read more

Went here for breakfast after camping up north for the weekend. We had a large group of us (15 people) so they sat us in the back room which was perfect. The food prices are very reasonable. The decor is what you would expect for a place in the Adirondack's with its country theme. The flavor of the food was good. The pancakes were fluffy and had a great taste. Where do I begin? This place was a disaster from the time our motorcycle riding group walked through the door. We were told to sit anywhere we wished, and within 5 minutes of sitting down, we were forced to another location because there were an extra couple of chairs, which were to be used for a larger group. The server who demanded we move was not even pleasant but she was quite rude and arrogant. Our server was also quite unpleasant, no smile and extremely curt. The hamburgers were raw when we asked for medium and finally there was notveven one coffee refill. Once the surely waitress served the undercooked meals she completely disappeared. Very nice Diner , a hidden Jewell in the Adirondack park a little jaunt north of Lake George Village! The staff is very friendly especially our wonderful and appreciative waitress. She was very attentive, drinks were always filled, and the food was delicious! Burgers are excellent but make sure to save room fro the wondrous homemade Pies Cakes and that Strawberry Shortcake on a Hot Biscuit is to die for!! UPDATE: PAST REVIEW LISTED BELOW* My girlfriend and I went back and got our usual omelettes, except it took 40 minutes and we were literally within minutes of walking out. We are the meal and we were both completely underwhelmed with what we ate, even the biscuit wasn't that good. It was all just beyond disappointing. On top of this, our waitress never gave us updates on the order, never refilled our water until I ASKED for a refill (unacceptable). Then when she finally brought everything out, there was no butter for the biscuit and we had to ask for that as well. We both walked out angrier than we went in, and we both wish we just went to Amatos for breakfast. I give this updated experience 0.5 dry biscuits out of 10. *PAST REVIEW, WAS 4/5 STARS* I've been coming to the Hot Biscuit Diner for the past couple years. So that's about once a year, maybe 2. What's been consistent is the possibility of not getting your water refilled, having decently long wait times for food, and possibly having it crowded in there. But, there's a reason for it; the food is consistently delicious. I get the omelette, hash browns, and biscuit meal (don't you dare come to "Hot Biscuit" and not get a biscuit!) It's never disappointed me! The biscuit is absolutely fantastic, probably the best biscuit I've stuck in my mouth. This time around, we also tried the bagel with butter and cream cheese, and the Belgian waffle with whipped cream. The bagel with butter and cream cheese is self explanatory, yet it was very tasty. But, definitely not for the health conscious people out there as my hand was covered in melted butter after. The Belgian waffle was delicious, though a little bit on the pricey side ($6.80 I believe, or close to it) for one big waffle. Even though I would rank that waffle in my top 5, I don't think I will be getting it again. Our waitress was Abigail and she did a nice job and was a sweetie. I've had some not-so-friendly waitresses there in the past so it was nice to have generally happier waitress. If you can get passed the wait times, and having to ask for a refill, the food is delicious and you'll leave completely satisfied. I wish I could give 3.5 stars, because 3 feels too low and 4 feels too high for some of the cons I listed. But, I do continue to come every year, so I'll rate it a 4/5 stars. If I didn't have Abigail as a waitress today, it would've been a 3. If their service changes and improves in the coming years, I will update my review. If it gets worse next time, I will update. As of now, it's 4 I rate this experience 7 of the hottest biscuits ever out of 10. read more

Gravy was very tasty. The staff was very friendly. The diner itself could use a little cleaning. There were a few flies bugging us the whole meal and it's November. This place is going down hill fast. We ate there yesterday and both of us had fried chicken and fries. Chicken was no better than the frozen dinners you get from store and fries were greasy. Consistently good breakfast and friendly people. A lot of people from the Star Trek thing in town come here. They waitstaff is always patient with the plethora of out of towners. As an example, I remember one of those Star Trek people from a few years ago. Older guy, very full of himself. He was super into the biscuits and kept insisting they address him as LORD GARTH OF THE BISCUITS. They were nice about it and even gave him a bag to go. Really, I've never seen someone so into biscuits. He was like, "I love this place and will never forget it. If people ask me about biscuits I'm telling them they need to make the trip here!" Had an egg salad on soft rye bread sandwich with kettle cooked potato chips and pickles on the side. I was surprised at the nice thickness of the bread. The sandwich was very satisfying. I would definitely recommend. The atmosphere is very retro and quaint. There was even music from the 20s to the 40s playing in the background. The waitress was very attentive. The hash left a little to be desired and the biscuits were a little dry (and not hot!) but everything else was exactly what we were hoping for in a diner. We were camping at Putnam Pond and in town for the Star Trek Set Tour. We went to have breakfast at 11 a.m. and told we could not be seated for 30 minutes, as they were transitioning from breakfast to lunch. They were closed on Monday, and the only other restaurant in town had a 45 minute wait. We were VERY hungry, and disgusted that out-of-town visitors with tourist money to spend were treated so badly by one of the only two restaurants that even exists in the town. I cannot comment on the food, because we did not get any. I'm sure the decor would have been cute, if we were able to get a seat and get some service in that ridiculous excuse for a historic tourist town. I do not recommend Ticonderoga, in general, if you're hungry and from out of town. read more

Haven't been in awhile and probably won't again for awhile. We went on a Saturday around 9:30am The place was less then half full. Great! We beat the morning rush.... think again.. .. for starters ordered 2 hot chocolates not mixed, it was all clumped at the bottom, but food came out fairly quickly which was nice. However i feel like it may have been left over from the morning rush. My oatmeal was balls of rubber is all i can think of to describe it. Bacon there has always been fanonminal, today cold and rubbery. All our food was cold pretty much, barely Luke warm. We would have let the waitress know However we were not checked on since our meal was put down. 2 eggs, 2pc french toast, 2 very small orders of home fries (cold), 2 orders bacon, 1 oatmeal, 2 hot chocolate and 2 orange juice was $50 ! For breakfast!!! Used to run us around $35 To top it off went to the ladies room which was disgusting! Looked like pooped smeared (i don't know if it was but that's what it looked like) on the wall near the floor next to the baby changing table which i wouldn't lay my dog on. The matt/pad was yellow with age had crumbs & crud in the seams, the light switches were black with dirt, sink faucets couldn't even tell it was chrome. When we checked out the spot for the tip is now 15% or higher no where to allocate anything less then 15%. Just an overall disappointment. This place used to be great and always looked so nice, cute and clean when the Dixon parents had it. Sad to see how far down hill its gone. Just a reminder why rarely eat out anymore :( read more

Love the historic town of Ticonderoga. Love the people who are nice and friendly. That said, the food at the Hot Biscuit Diner left little to be desired. The chicken fried steak was tough and gravy was lumpy. The biscuit was underbaked and doughy. The waitress was nice, but the way she "cleaned" our table was scary. The same rag that just graced a few dirty tables before us made a hasty whoosh on our table to knock the crumbs on our chairs and the floor, but the table top was still wet with a mixture of former guests spilled beverages.
