This place was recommended by the locals of lake placid so we decided to give it a try. Service was a little slow but they were friendly. We both got corned beef hash and poached eggs. My side of bacon was cooked perfectly and the poached eggs were as well. The only complaint was too little meat in the hash, made up with a lot of potatoes.

The full trout breakfast (home fries and apple pie not pictured--so, so much food!)

We love coming for breakfast on our family vacation because - the food is delicious - the portions are enormous - the prices are terrific - the servers are friendly - there is something for everyone Today, I got the sourdough French toast, which was perfectly light and crispy. French toast is so often eggy and dense. This was the best I've ever had--hands down! Their baked goods are fresh and tasty too, especially the strawberry muffins. Several family members always order the trout breakfast with trout, toast, home fries, eggs, and apple pie. Not only do they love it, they always have leftovers to take home! Just one little note: Be prepared for a bit of a wait when you go. The place is popular, the food is made with love, and the small wait staff is moving as fast as they can. I promise it's worth the wait!

Great blueberry stuffed French toast for brunch. Fabulous service. Excellent coffee. Nice roofed outdoor patio to sit and eat on a beautiful Sunday morning.

The western omelet with rye bread on the side

I come to this place to eat a hearty breakfast almost every time I'm in the Adirondacks. The staff and waitresses are all so friendly and attentive. The food portions are huge and the food is always delicious. On the weekends, they only serve their breakfast menus from opening until closing at 2pm. I have gotten their blueberry pancakes with fresh blueberries, their veggie omelets, western omelet (without cheese), trout platter. The omelet dish can easily feed 2 people. The pancakes are the size of my face (no joke) and really satisfy a craving. The only thing that I have a critique on is their coffee. I know they brew large amounts at a time to feed many customers, but it is so watered down. I wish there was a a stronger brew to go along with my hearty breakfast.

We had an amazing breakfast today! Absolutely loved this homey, warm cafe. The staff is great! The menu is interesting. The food is yummy! I had the trout breakfast platter and loved it-From the perfectly fried trout to the apple pie. Even the bread was yummy. Pancakes and French toast are served with real maple syrup. I can't say enough about this place.

The Adirondack Mountain Coffee Cafe is a must for a phenomenal breakfast and attentive wait staff. The Blueberry French Toast stuffed with cream cheese special was out of this world. Great coffee and beautiful location.

We enjoyed several lunches at this cafe while in Upper Jay. I enjoyed a very fresh large chef salad, of which I could only eat half. My husband enjoyed his take out fresh turkey sandwich on homemade sour dough, when he got to the bottom of Jay trailhead. The fudge is delicious. In the afternoon, we enjoyed the fudge with wine while sitting on the edge of the Ausable River bed. Our lunch the next day did not disappoint - fresh tuna salad sandwich on homemade sour dough and medium rare hamburger served on homemade gluten free bread with homemade coleslaw. Service was excellent for both visits. We'll be back!

Capisce Coffee & Espresso Bar - Hot latte

Capisce Coffee & Espresso Bar

Capisce Coffee & Espresso Bar: A Lake Placid Essential…read more If you're looking for a coffee experience that matches the beauty of the Adirondacks, Capisce Coffee & Espresso Bar is a must-visit. From the welcoming "a place upstate" Adirondack chair out front to the cozy, shingle-sided exterior, this spot perfectly captures that rustic, high-peaks aesthetic. But it's the quality of the brew that truly sets it apart. The Espresso The espresso at Capisce is a masterclass in balance. It's rich and full-bodied with a velvety crema that hints at the care put into every pull. You won't find any bitterness here--just a smooth, complex shot that serves as the perfect foundation for their signature drinks. The Lattes Whether you need to warm up after a chilly morning at the lake or cool down after a mountain bike ride, their lattes are top-tier: Hot Lattes: The milk is steamed to a perfect micro-foam consistency--silky, sweet, and light. It blends beautifully with the espresso, creating a comforting drink that feels as artisanal as the surroundings. Iced Lattes: These are exceptionally refreshing. They manage to keep the espresso flavor front and center without letting the milk or ice wash it out. It's the ideal companion for a sunny afternoon on the patio. The Atmosphere There is something uniquely relaxing about grabbing a drink and sitting among the trees and rocks outside this cabin-style shop. It's clearly a favorite for locals and travelers alike, and for good reason--the "upstate" vibe is genuine, and the coffee is world-class. The service is full of happiness. Final Verdict: If you are in the Lake Placid area and take your caffeine seriously, Capisce is the place to be.

The employees were friendly, and our stuff came out fast. I got an iced latte with maple syrup and soy milk, my boyfriend got a salted caramel iced latte with vanilla cold foam, and my friend got a drip coffee. The coffee was so good! The only reason I'm not leaving 5 stars is because my friend got the savory cheese twist and it tasted stale, dry and not like cheese :( but the quiche was very good he said. Overall I'd definitely come back for more lattes! I'm happy to have tried this on a trip to Lake Placid.

This is literally looks like a small building, similar to a roadside shack. I got some of their maple syrup in a mason jar, along with some maple tea. The maple syrup was definitely of high quality, which I had on some pancakes and the maple tea hit the spot. What makes this place unique is that typically nobody is here. All the items are just on tables and it is an honor system to pay. People just place cash on the table in a specified area and you take change (hopefully there is the exact change you need!). You can also pay by credit card, but since nobody is normally present, there is a piece of paper where you write down the info, put it in a secure container, and apparently they will process the payment in the next day or two (with email confirmation). I suggest making sure you have cash so you do not need to provide this sensitive info. Coming back from the Saranac Lake/Lake Placid area going south, you should pass by this establishment along the way, so take little time to come by and see what they have to offer! The maple syrup is a definitely must!

I loved that each item had the simple ingredients listed with it on the name-- this made it easy for needing to ask if you have food allergies, but also terrific to see that the treats are made with basic ingredients like you'd use at home! I tried a snickerdoodle whoopie pie with cream cheese icing inside. The cookies were perfect and the frosting was a bit on the super sweet side but that's how I like my frosting so it was delicious! My mom got a slice of pie- the flavor was pretty good but since it was kept in the fridge, the crust lost a bit of the crunch/flakiness. We bought a take and bake frozen raspberry pie for the next time we have guests over. Mom also got a brownie, which she said was very good as well. The wide selection of pre made salads and sandwiches looked great as well as the large selection of take and bake meals and side dishes. This is my favorite type of a local gem to discover. It's a perfect spot to stop on the way to or from Lake Placid. I actually visited twice in the same day! It's open Friday-Monday (as of when I visited in November'23). I think I'll actually head back to that area next weekend and stop back in to pick up a few gifts and some more baked goods! Update--- We also did end up going back to the shop the following weekend for some more shopping. Customer service could use some improvement. **As I said in my main review, we bought a frozen pie to take and bake. We baked it for Thanksgiving l there was no scent while it baked which was unusual. It wasn't the prettiest looking when it came out of the oven. More unfortunately, no one liked it! My mom said it was the worst she's ever tasted. The crust was so thick and the filling and crust both had a strange aftertaste. This was very disappointing because the treats we had in the store were delicious. If the review was based only on the pie, I'd be a 1/5 stars.

Best of all, I could race in and find the perfect lunch; I actually had a tough time choosing as the tempeh also looked delish. The only tough part is walking past the amazing desserts.
