Coffee!!!
Amy G.

Needed a place to stop for something to eat and drink. This was the closest place and it ended up being a great little stop. We were in the mood for lunch and they were only serving breakfast that Sunday. So, we opted for the most lunch-ish thing available that wasn't too heavy. Bagels and cream cheese. They were perfectly toasted and there was plenty of spreadable cream cheese. It made for a perfect light lunch. I don't eat eggs, so it did limit my options. If you do eat eggs, their breakfast dishes with eggs look amazing. Of course, we tried the coffee. It was very good and we loved the mugs. The place is rustic-charming. The service was good. It's a busy place. We loved the regulars who stopped in and didn't even need to say what they wanted. The servers already knew. The service is good but slow. Not sure if that's because they were busy or if they're just not the type to rush things. The bathrooms are clean. There is an up-charge for credit cards. It's hard to resist buying mugs and coffee to take home. The cookies were so hard to resist we bought some to keep us snack-happy on our travels. Definitely a good place to stop.

ADIRONDACK MOUNTAIN COFFEE! AWESOME!

Adirondack Mountain Coffee House is the perfect way to start the day. The coffee is excellent, always hot, strong, and flowing. Breakfast really hits the spot. Crunchy French toast, fluffy pancakes, and crispy flavorful home fries. The vibe is laid back, the space is cozy and welcoming. Everything you want in a mountain morning!

This place was recommended by the locals of lake placid so we decided to give it a try. Service was a little slow but they were friendly. We both got corned beef hash and poached eggs. My side of bacon was cooked perfectly and the poached eggs were as well. The only complaint was too little meat in the hash, made up with a lot of potatoes.

The full trout breakfast (home fries and apple pie not pictured--so, so much food!)

We love coming for breakfast on our family vacation because - the food is delicious - the portions are enormous - the prices are terrific - the servers are friendly - there is something for everyone Today, I got the sourdough French toast, which was perfectly light and crispy. French toast is so often eggy and dense. This was the best I've ever had--hands down! Their baked goods are fresh and tasty too, especially the strawberry muffins. Several family members always order the trout breakfast with trout, toast, home fries, eggs, and apple pie. Not only do they love it, they always have leftovers to take home! Just one little note: Be prepared for a bit of a wait when you go. The place is popular, the food is made with love, and the small wait staff is moving as fast as they can. I promise it's worth the wait!

The western omelet with rye bread on the side

I come to this place to eat a hearty breakfast almost every time I'm in the Adirondacks. The staff and waitresses are all so friendly and attentive. The food portions are huge and the food is always delicious. On the weekends, they only serve their breakfast menus from opening until closing at 2pm. I have gotten their blueberry pancakes with fresh blueberries, their veggie omelets, western omelet (without cheese), trout platter. The omelet dish can easily feed 2 people. The pancakes are the size of my face (no joke) and really satisfy a craving. The only thing that I have a critique on is their coffee. I know they brew large amounts at a time to feed many customers, but it is so watered down. I wish there was a a stronger brew to go along with my hearty breakfast.

Blueberry stuffed French Toast.

Great blueberry stuffed French toast for brunch. Fabulous service. Excellent coffee. Nice roofed outdoor patio to sit and eat on a beautiful Sunday morning.

My wife and I had just dropped our kids off at the base of a trail and were looking for a coffee…read moreshop when we happened upon Capisce. What a find! It's a charming local spot with a few nice seating options both inside and out. The coffee here is excellent. My wife ordered a blueberry scone that was incredibly fresh and tasty, and I absolutely loved my croissant. We ended up returning several times before leaving Lake Placid! **A few quick notes:** * It's located just out of town, making it a great stop on your way to or from outdoor activities. * The parking lot is unpaved and on the smaller side, so keep that in mind when pulling in. Highly recommended if you're in the area!

The inside is quite small and tight but there is additional seating outside. Tables are for dining in only. Luckily the outdoor tables had umbrellas because it was slightly drizzling. My matcha came out in about eight minutes, while our food came out maybe 15 minutes later. The strawberries and cream matcha came out beautifully, with layers of fresh strawberries, matcha, milk, and even topped with a fresh strawberry! Pretty decent matcha. I enjoyed their strawberry sauce as it did not taste too sweet or artificial. The actual matcha was okay, they premixed it so it wasn't freshly whisked. Our sandwiches came out on cute tea plates and shaped like hearts, also with some berries included. They were massive! We could've split one sandwich had we known how big they were. The egg scramble was clearly made from real cracked eggs and were so fluffy and hot. The ciabatta was light and not dense at all, with a nice crisp to the outside. The breakfast definitely gave us full bellies as we prepare for our drive to a climbing gym before we head home. In total, two breakfast sandwiches, a strawberries and cream matcha, and a bottle of orange juice costed around $40. Steep but at least it was good.

I loved that each item had the simple ingredients listed with it on the name-- this made it easy for needing to ask if you have food allergies, but also terrific to see that the treats are made with basic ingredients like you'd use at home! I tried a snickerdoodle whoopie pie with cream cheese icing inside. The cookies were perfect and the frosting was a bit on the super sweet side but that's how I like my frosting so it was delicious! My mom got a slice of pie- the flavor was pretty good but since it was kept in the fridge, the crust lost a bit of the crunch/flakiness. We bought a take and bake frozen raspberry pie for the next time we have guests over. Mom also got a brownie, which she said was very good as well. The wide selection of pre made salads and sandwiches looked great as well as the large selection of take and bake meals and side dishes. This is my favorite type of a local gem to discover. It's a perfect spot to stop on the way to or from Lake Placid. I actually visited twice in the same day! It's open Friday-Monday (as of when I visited in November'23). I think I'll actually head back to that area next weekend and stop back in to pick up a few gifts and some more baked goods! Update--- We also did end up going back to the shop the following weekend for some more shopping. Customer service could use some improvement. **As I said in my main review, we bought a frozen pie to take and bake. We baked it for Thanksgiving l there was no scent while it baked which was unusual. It wasn't the prettiest looking when it came out of the oven. More unfortunately, no one liked it! My mom said it was the worst she's ever tasted. The crust was so thick and the filling and crust both had a strange aftertaste. This was very disappointing because the treats we had in the store were delicious. If the review was based only on the pie, I'd be a 1/5 stars.

Let me bring this place a bit back to earth…read more River View is a food stall in the store you walk through before going into High Falls Gorge. There's a cashier you order from, you grab a table, and then they call out your # to grab you food in to go containers. I'd wager to bet many folks prefer to hike a bit and then eat, so this makes sense to me. Prices were ok for the area. Pricing is reasonable for what you get. I ordered a chili dog which was one of the local upstate brands, so it was stellar. Wish they went lighter on the chili/cheese, but I just removed it and ate with the homemade chips. My son liked his fries, and my wife liked her food too. I wanted to get the trout I see on menus online, but it's no longer on the menu. Got a shake too which hit the spot. I'm eating this place what it deserves, which is not bad at all. What bugged me is that the reviews were off here across different platforms; folks were making this sound like a full blown restaurant, when it's just a family-owned food stop for the trail. We went out of our way so want to guide others, even if it was ok in the end. Keep your expectations in check.
