Great cold brew and very cute place! The line was long (almost out the door) when we got there, but they were very efficient behind the counter and got our cold brews right away. Would definitely consider coming back to try some of their food and sit down in there to enjoy the atmosphere.

We were road tripping and in need of a healthy option in Lake Placid. Admittedly there were slim pickings, but Origin was great!! Latte was good - Asked for unsweetened and still got honey which wasn't ideal. Avocado toast was *amazing*! The roasted red pepper spread was remarkable, and the bread was also super yummy. Would recommend highly if you're visiting the first time!!

Open early, I was here for Saturday morning coffee. After finding parking, the place was rather busy with a constant flow of customers. I enjoyed my cortado (excellent!) and worked out a plan of attack for Lake Placid on their wifi. Sitting at the counter is my recommendation so you can see into the kitchen and watch the baristas try to keep up. [Review 1595 of 2024 - 509 in New York - 22618 overall]

What a cute coffee shop! It was busy as we walked in which is a great sign. But the line moved quickly. They have sandwiches to order and baked goods in a case(we got there mid morning so not much left). I opted for their Sweater Weather Latte and got it iced. The drink consisted of local maple syrup, cardamon, cinnamon, espresso and steamed milk. This was a perfect drink for a fall day which it felt like as we left to head home. Friendly and efficient service. I can't wait to head back to try more items when we return next year for our yearly trip.

Coffee was absolutely incredible!! Iced drinks come in these super cute mason jars! We did iced lattes with maple syrup and the maple syrup cold foam! Will absolutely be coming back soon

Origin Coffee helped me start my days off right during a recent conference I attended in Lake Placid. I thought for sure most places would be closed since it's in-between seasons. Thankfully Origin was open bright and early at 7AM. This is an excellent coffee shop/roaster who also offers their coffee VIA Kalita Wave/Pour Over, which is my preferred coffee brewing method. Awesome shop, friendly people and of course great coffee.

A popular cafe right in the middle of the Lake Placid town. It took about 30 mins for us to get to front of the line + get our food and coffee, but you can easily take your coffee to the mirror lake and enjoy it with the view. Ham and cheddar panini is tasty and I especially liked the apple slice that add some freshness to the sandwich.

We were getting a tire changed at the nearby Mobil, and decided to wait here with breakfast and coffee. It was very busy on a Monday afternoon and we waited in line for around 20 minutes but it was definitely worth it! We got their Vietnamese iced coffee and breakfast burritos. We sat at their sidewalk table, and people watched, it felt like small town summer magic. The staff were so friendly, and the space was large and inviting. Hope to return!

Best coffee we had in Lake Placid! We are here for the eclipse and things are CRAZY so we expected the long lines but these guys handled it like pros. The wait time after ordering coffee was quick. I ordered the Orange Mocha Latte which was a special and might be my favorite latte ever.

We stopped in here because it was the only thing open when looking around the museum and were so surprised. What started as an accident turned into the best breakfast I ate all week in Lake Placid. The staff was friendly and did a great job assisting us. My order included a breakfast burrito that was filled with eggs, peppers, cheese, chorizo, sweet potato puree and poblano & tomatillo sauce.

We needed a pick me up brunch before embarking on our big adventure for the day. Decided to stop by Origin Coffee due to the high reviews. I was shocked to see that they had not only Vietnamese coffee, but also banh mi! This surprise was a great addition to the usual expected offerings at a coffee shop. I was also mesmerized by their chocolate chip cookie on display right next to their cash register -- marketing done right. My coffee came out first and after trying it, I wasn't too impressed by it. Growing up with Vietnamese coffee, this was just your standard cold brew basic coffee with a very light flavor of the sweetened condensed milk. Was not met with the bold slow drip taste, but wasn't too let down from that. Once my banh mi came out, I was excited to sink my teeth into my first meal of the day. Boy was I not let down with this first bite! The sour pickled carrots and cucumber really livened my taste buds. Those pungent, crunchy veggies perfectly complemented the soft pulled pork, seasoned mildly but just enough so all the components of the sandwich shined through. There was a generous drizzle of spicy mayo that bind all the ingredients together. I split the sandwich with my boyfriend, who thoroughly enjoyed his half as well. I finished up my meal with the chocolate chip cookie and wow did that hit the spot! I could taste that it was freshly baked that morning. It was THE perfect chocolate chip cookie with a balanced amount of chocolate chips, was slightly crisp on the edges but oh so gooey with every bite. The sprinkle of sea salt on top balanced the sweetness so so well. The five stars definitely came from the cookie alone. Overall, I found my favorite coffee shop in the Lake Placid area.. although the coffee had to have been my least favorite part of the experience. The food and pastries definitely make me want to come back and try their other drinks as well. Great meal to kick off our four hour hike that morning!

The food and drinks are great; in a short visit to Lake Placid with plenty if options for breakfast/lunch, we made a return visit here.

From the welcoming "a place upstate" Adirondack chair out front to the cozy, shingle-sided exterior, this spot perfectly captures that rustic, high-peaks aesthetic. But it's the quality of the brew that truly sets it apart. The Espresso The espresso at Capisce is a masterclass in balance. It's rich and full-bodied with a velvety crema that hints at the care put into every pull. You won't find any bitterness here--just a smooth, complex shot that serves as the perfect foundation for their signature drinks. The Lattes Whether you need to warm up after a chilly morning at the lake or cool down after a mountain bike ride, their lattes are top-tier: Hot Lattes: The milk is steamed to a perfect micro-foam consistency--silky, sweet, and light. It blends beautifully with the espresso, creating a comforting drink that feels as artisanal as the surroundings. Iced Lattes: These are exceptionally refreshing. They manage to keep the espresso flavor front and center without letting the milk or ice wash it out. It's the ideal companion for a sunny afternoon on the patio. The Atmosphere There is something uniquely relaxing about grabbing a drink and sitting among the trees and rocks outside this cabin-style shop. It's clearly a favorite for locals and travelers alike, and for good reason--the "upstate" vibe is genuine, and the coffee is world-class. The service is full of happiness. Final Verdict: If you are in the Lake Placid area and take your caffeine seriously, Capisce is the place to be.

The only reason I'm not leaving 5 stars is because my friend got the savory cheese twist and it tasted stale, dry and not like cheese :( but the quiche was very good he said. We were in the mood for lunch and they were only serving breakfast that Sunday. So, we opted for the most lunch-ish thing available that wasn't too heavy. Bagels and cream cheese.
