My experience here was truly 5 stars. Besides the food being delectable, the experience was definitely worth while. I had the butter chicken, and the food quite literally melted in my mouth. We also ordered the mutton curry, and I have not had such amazing mutton curry before (even though I live in Edison area). The variety of food on the menu all looked equally appetizing, and I guarantee anything ordered from the menu would have tasted equally delicious. From the cultural cooking to the amazing people, Frontier Town Gateway is a place worth visiting. To top it all, the owner, Ahmed is such a warm person and made us feel at home. Don't be fooled by the weird exterior or unusual - but cool! - selection of tourist merchandise. This place has absolutely terrific Pakistani/North Indian food. We stopped here to charge our car - the chargers are convenient and fast - and wandered into the store looking for chips and a soda. This building has a long weird history including being a theme park and being what had to be the world's most strangely decorated McDonalds (there is still some McD's logo stuff around, it's fun to see how much of it you can find) and - what a wonderful surprise - now it's a gift shop, event space, and a restaurant serving Pakistani food (which was great as noted above) and some other stuff including pizza. What a find! We'll be making this a stop on every trip through the Adirondacks from now on. read more

Stopped in on our way north for the eclipse. Was planning to use the bathroom and get some food. They actually blocked off the bathrooms making them inaccessible and had a sign directing people across street to the gas station (which has a single bathroom). Needless to say, we left without buying anything and won't return. Really obnoxious to close the bathrooms. read more

Calling this a restaurant is a complete overstatement. We come here for the convenience, since they mostly have camping gear and its the closest place to Blue Ridge Campground. Basically a gas station set up- the ice cream is good. Expect fried Indian food. Don't come here for luxury. read more

Being local people , my husband and I are thrilled that Frontier Town Gateway is just around the corner. Unfortunately up to this point they are not open all year round but as soon as they turn the lights on I am there picking up pizza. Andis the pizza ever delicious. We have tried their chicken wings which are also very tasty. Tonight we had our usual pizza order and to get a little crazy we tried an Indian dish as well. Butter chicken over bed of rice. We came here to charge the car going on a paddle around Saranac Lake. Amazing place to charge the car, super fast chargers. Grabbed some coffee and snack for the road. Paratha and kebab and spicy sandwiches are a nice break from the usual road side food. They also make pizza, did not see anyone trying it. There are some souvenirs and some camping Knick-knacks. The staff and owners are very nice, service was relatively quick. read more

The food was so good! I had the lamb gyro and it was great. My husband had the butter chicken and enjoyed it. My daughter had the chicken tikka masala and she liked it but it was a tad spicy. The people are always so friendly at Frontier Town Gateway. So when you go in it is a bit confusing because it is a store as well as the restaurant. You order at the counter and then they call you when your order is ready. It is a very relaxed place -perfect for a stop in to get great food before your next adventure in the Adirondacks. read more

Stopped for supercharger and ended up having a delicious lunch! The Lahori Chana was soooo delicious - perfect, complex spices. Quite an extensive list of vegetarian and gluten free options. My husband and our child had a pepperoni pizza that looked delicious, which they gobbled up. Clean bathrooms on site as well as a cute shop area with competitive prices. The staff was kind and very attentive, and our food was fresh but didn't take too long at all. Great option right off the northway. read more

Piqued interest on the way back from Canada. Lahore food in the middle of trees and stuff? We thought we'd try the sampler and got the pizza, but when the appetizers delighted we got a couple other items to go - butter chicken and Paneer. The rice was piping hot but the main stars were cold, but that didn't matter since they were to go. (I devoured the paneer the next day). The pizza could have benefited from a little more time in the oven, but was still tasty. If it wasn't 5 hours away i would give this another go. We stopped here to charge our EV and were pleasantly surprised to find this hidden gem. The place is family owned and offers homemade Indian and Pakistani food (plus western staples like pizza, wings and sandwiches, waffles, etc.) The dishes we had were very good - samosas with yummy dipping sauce, chicken kebab, palak paneer, chicken gyro. Smoothies were refreshing and tasty. A good selection of drinks, deserts, smoothies and shakes. The place has a little convenience store and a clean bathroom. The food was prepared very fast despite the fact that it is not a fast food location. Across from a gas station 1/2 hour from another eatery, we ventured in to this new looking, clean and tidy wooden lodge and wound up enjoying chaat and palak paneer. What is this place? Giant parking lot leads into a giant building/food hall/souvenir shop?? This building is huge but it was empty and confusing as we thought it might be an actual sit down restaurant from their website but it was more like a snack bar at a bowling alley. We wandered around the building looking for some signs of the old Frontier Town but the vast building was mostly empty. On a surprise side it looked newly renovated but not sure for what purpose. The place was cavernous and could host a wedding. As if the layout wasn't confusing enough we were never asked if we could be helped or if we wanted anything and only saw a couple of people who maybe worked there. The "souvenir shop" was just in the same room with the food and ice cream counters and I think maybe if we wanted to buy something we would've paid at the food counter??? Very odd. This was a cute little place off the highway and we really wanted to like it. Especially post COVID, we are understanding that there are staff shortages but this was something that should have been shared with us if this was the case. We waited in line for almost ten minutes just to order, while one young man was running around trying to do everything - seemingly on his own. We ordered 2 bagels with eggs and 1 bagel with cream cheese. It took 40 minutes to get our food.. and there was barely any cream cheese on the bagel. This was a surprise find just off 1-87 driving down-state just before the Lake George set of exits. Brand new and sprawling with great food and service. The reasonably priced low on spice, high on flavor, Indian-Pakistani food just blew our mind . Impressive place. The burger was seared on the outside, juicy on the inside. Fried were crispy. For dessert they had a special pie the cooked in their pizza oven. The crust was excellent. Really surprisingly excellent Indian food - chickpea curry and delicious chicken. Seems like a family operated place. Good food and good energy. Spacious. Quick service. This is such a great addition to the local community. They've got a great cafe with tasty coffee and espresso. The menu offers a little of something for everyone and everything I've tried it great! Their soups are always a great option, as well as their Italian hoagies and breakfast sandwiches. On top of all that, in the evenings they offer a unique "bollywood" menu with a limited variety of classic Indian foods- what a relief to have an ethnic food option in the area! I've had two meals here so far and both have been great. The building has been redone, and there is a coffee counter and another for the food options, as well as a gift shop area with things you might need if you are camping or are looking for Adirondack souvenirs. I was there first for lunch - I had a delicious grilled turkey sandwich, with cheese and grilled onions. A step above your average roadside fare. And tonight we were there for the first Bollywood Thursday Night. Indian food at exit 29! We had Butter Chicken and Lamb Curry. Delicious again. And the place looks great. Definitely worth a stop if you are looking for a quick bite as you are tooling up the Northway. read more
