In all honesty, I would probably rate this a 2.5 but for the sake of maybe they were having a bad day, I'll round up to 3. Four of us came in for breakfast at about 12:15 on a Sunday. While the restaurant was mostly full, we did not have to wait to be seated. Unfortunately they don't serve breakfast after 12 so only lunch/dinner items were available except for a breakfast buffet which the server advised would be available for only another 45 minutes. I looked at the small buffet menu showing what was available on today's buffet: sausage links, bacon, corned beef, sausage gravy, pastries, fruit, French toast sticks, and ham and cheese omelets and since nothing really appealed to any of us we decided we would pass on the buffet however when the server came to get our drink orders she advised us that if we wanted to order off the menu it would take 50 minutes to an hour to get our food. We asked if we got an appetizer in addition to the food if that would at least come out sooner so we could snack on something while we waited but she said probably not so we all went for the buffet. I so wished I hadn't. The sausage links and bacon were to be expected but the corned beef hash was definitely the canned variety that looks more like cat food than human food and since it wasn't cooked crisp, it was just a soggy mess. The fruit was the standard cantalope and melon but weren't really very flavor able. The sausage gravy was decent and had lots of sausage in it but the biscuits were small, cold, and hard. I'm not an omelette person usually but this one was kind of strange. Instead of small individual omelettes, they were large rolled or possibly folded eggs, with diced ham and melted cheddar then sliced in sections so it kind of resembled a Stromboli bread with eggs instead of bread and judging by by the consistency and texture, the eggs must be pre-mixed eggs in a carton. I was not a fan. The French toast sticks were ok. Nothing great but it the worst item on the Buffett. The one really good item on the buffet was the blueberry muffin. Which was packed full of large, real blueberries. I ate two of those. Service was ok, our server was nice and polite and refilled our drinks when we asked but the cashier had little or no personality. He never asked how our meal was or said have a great day or even said thank you. read more

We chose Rosie's for breakfast based on reviews and location. This is your basic breakfast place with a homey vibe. The menu includes eggs, pancakes, biscuits and gravy and country fried steak. The service was friendly and efficient. The food was decent. I ordered the platter with biscuits and gravy, eggs and potatoes. I asked them to hold the toast that comes with platter. I'm not certain why they offer toast with biscuits and gravy. It seems like a lot of bread. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak. We enjoyed our meals but thought it wasn't a must go to place. If you are in the area and want a country breakfast Rosie's is an option to consider. read more

A random little diner. It was one of the few places open "late" (they're open until 8pm) in Middlebury. Waitress was nice. The small chicken and biscuits was good but a bit soggy. A little bland but it was basically a deconstructed chicken pot pie. The cranberry orange relish really didn't fit in and is super strong. The biscuit was good and made in house. Husband got a "beef on weck" on a normal roll, not the weck roll. Very much a local spot that just happened to work out for us. read more

Overall, I didn't think there was anything wrong with Rosie's. They have plenty of seating on one side and a diner setting on the other. The servers were warm and friendly. Unfortunately, I just didn't find the food really that great. I had ordered the seafood platter and I would've found it better. If it was more of a broiled option instead of fried, I would go again and take my mom because she really enjoyed her meal there and I would just try something different so we'll see. read more

Don't like negative reviews for small businesses, but that was dreadful Chicken parm - barely any cheese and totally flavorless! I loaded it with salt and grated cheese and the only reason I finished it was we hadn't eaten all day! The spaghetti was untouched - total mush. It looked like meatloaf, but it, tasted like nothing! Really good comfort food in a kid friendly atmosphere. I think we may have had the same server as other reviewers because she was amazing. We came in right after a high school football team and so the food was coming out a bit slow, but she checked in on us often and kept us updated. Kids were happy with open faced turkey sandwich and burger. There was also chicken parm and a full thanksgiving turkey dinner. Everything look yummy. I had beef stroganoff, which was delicious but a bit scarce on the beef. They have a full bar and prime rib on the weekends and on a Saturday night the place was packed! read more

We came to Rosie's for breakfast on our way out of a great weekend in Middlebury. Our trip to Rosie's was the cherry on top of our sundae, or should I say the maple syrup on top of our pancakes? We sat outside in the sun and ate a fantastic breakfast. My mom got the eggs Benedict, and I got the Jeep 4x4. The pancakes that accompanied my meal were buttery, fluffy, and the perfect vessel for the local maple syrup that I drizzled on top. The service was great, our coffee cups stayed full. Unfortunately their "seasonal" drinks weren't being offered, even though today's date is December 9th... AND the chicken with dumplings was cold and the change in recipe was AWEFUL! I'm very saddened by tonight's experience because I brought my friend from Venezuela here tonight, promising him a cozy Vermont experience. Rosie's Restaurant is a great place to stop off on the way to Burlington. After driving breakfast sounds good. I love the country feel and the quilts remind me of my many friends and family that love to quilt beautiful blankets. EVERYTHING! They had a Father's Day brunch couldn't order from a menu, just a buffet. Kids little hands were in stuff. The dining room was dirty, food on floor. After seating us and bring juice the waitress never returned except to bring the bill. The bill was $71.90 and they added a 20 percent tip and no one helped us. It was an unpleasant experience and a rip off. There was no ambiance. We were traveling and there was no where else open on route 7 in Middlebury VT. Don't go there. read more

A week ago, I was visiting my brother in Vermont and he and his wife took me to Rosie's, one of their favorite restaurants to frequent. I chose the Reuben sandwich for lunch and it was absolutely wonderful. It was stacked good with the corned beef, cabbage and Swiss cheese- just right, with a side of fries. I can see why my brother loves this restaurant, it has all the comfort food and the service is very pleasant. read more

The food is fine,I like most of the fired food, their seafood is actually surprisingly good! I went today and the service was amazing even though it was 30 minutes before they closed. Their dessert is always really yummy and their breakfast is good as well! Overall it's fine food and fair prices so if you're in the area I'd give it a try. Been going to Rosie' occasionally off and on for thirty years. took our grandson there for dinner and he ordered kids' meal spaghetti and meatballs. Dinner came and he said he couldn't get his fork in the meatballs. Thought he was being overly dramatic, but he was absolutely right. Hard and burnt looking, I tapped one on the plate and it sounded like tapping with a piece of hardwood. Server did apologize and brought out two fresher looking meatballs but by then grandson had eaten spaghetti and no longer interested in meatballs. No self-respecting "chef" would even put out overcooked meatballs like the first two, but I expect Rosie's is having trouble getting competent kitchen staff like many other places. French fries with a couple orders were not warm. I guess I'm finally done with Rosie's, sadly. read more

The kids chicken tenders were very good - seemed like they hand bread and bake them. They had so many options for kids which we really appreciated. Rosies restaurant is a little unassuming restaurant on the outskirts of Middlebury. Overall it has a very limited fair for vegetarians. But I tried the potato skin appetizer. I ordered it without the bacon and it comes with an serving of horseradish infused dipping sauce. Potatoes were rather small but were topped with an absolutely delightful Cabot white cheddar cheese. The taste especially with the dipping sauce was absolutely divine I only wish there had been a proper amount for the price. For the meal itself we did with the vegetable ravioli with a sun-dried tomato and white sauce. The dish was very flavorful and I was quite pleased with it. All in all Rosie's is a delightful little restaurant I just wish it had more vegetarian options. read more

I ordered my dinner, a meatloaf sandwich with mashed potatoes. 35 minutes after ordering no food. Server tells me the kitchen had prioritized a bigger table before mine but would soon get to mine: 10 minutes later nothing. I had enough and walked out. I wonder if anyone noticed? We went to Rosie's for a "gourmet" dinner accompanying a financial seminar featuring prime rib, salmon, and chicken cordon blue. The seminar was actually quite interesting. The prime rib was a disaster. It had clearly been steamed for at least an hour after roasting. Grey-brown with the texture of stew not quite properly finished, our companions at the table commented Rosie's had ruined a perfectly good piece of meat. I gave one star because the baked potato had a nice flavor and the maple bread pudding was good and sufficiently calorific I didn't feel starved after passing on the shoe leather beef. Four places in town where you can get a good roast, but not Rosie's.BTW the salmon was steamed too. The chicken stuffed with ham and covered with a cheese sauce was passable. read more

My kids and I went camping nearby and spent a few days in the area. Rather than scrounge around a cold and sooty campground in the morning, eating breakfast out of a cooler, we got in the car and headed down the road for some diner fare. Rosies was the closest, and it was fantastic. The service was unparalleled. Wonderful people in the front room and lovely servers at the tables. They were kind and patient to my little ones and were accommodating when we needed things. The breakfast food was good quality. Nothing amazing, just your classic diner fare, but that is what we expected and went there for. Prices were very reasonable. When we gave my kids the option of returning for dinner a few days later they were excited to take us up on it. We later learned that they did this because they remembered the glass case filled with desserts. Dinner was not bad. I had fish and chips and they were very tasty. My daughter had clam strips and they were as good as you can expect that far from the sea. My son had spaghetti and gobbled it down, but he is 3 so what does he know. My dad ordered their steak. He wasn't impressed, but who orders steak at a diner? I think that's on him. The desserts were solid. The fruit crisp was great and the milkshake was too. My chocolate cream pie was only average though. I still give this place 5 stars because it does exactly what you expect from it and has great service. Was in town and decided to try out the breakfast here at Rosie's. I've only been here for their dinner and it wasn't anything spectacular. However, the breakfast was something worth repeating, which is why we came here 2 days in a row. The first day I had gotten their Jeep 4x4, and everything that came with it was great. The second day I got their sausage gravy and biscuits and that was excellent as well. My wife had their french toast with a side of corned beef and hash both days and they were both good. I just know that I am glad I found a new breakfast spot to go to if I were to ever make the drive to Middlebury again. read more

I came here once five years ago and was very disappointed in the food, but we thought we'd try us again for their wing special. It was just as disappointing as I remember, although my husband did say their wings are still great, thus two stars rather than one.
