Just as we were about to sit down, the owner told us that those seats had been reserved for someone else. We went back to speak with the maître d', but the interaction and attitude at that point were unpleasant enough that we decided to leave. To his credit, the owner ultimately offered us a table outside, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, by then, the overall experience had already left us feeling unwelcome, and we decided it wasn't worth staying. I'm sure the food may very well be excellent, and perhaps we simply caught the restaurant on an off night. But a great dining experience starts well before the food reaches the table. There are plenty of restaurants where I'm happy to spend my money, and I don't expect special treatment--just basic courtesy and hospitality. Hopefully others have a better experience, but based on ours, we won't be returning.

During our visit this time, we started off with the wings and for our entrees we had the steak and chicken milanese which were absolutely amazing. The salad was one of our favorite parts of the meal as it was rich with mixed flavors which complemented the chicken.

They also have a market section where you can purchase meats, cheeses, pastas, and other little goodies. This place is truly a one-stop-shop. You can find an inexpensive bottle to enjoy, or you can find a big, special occasion bottle. Jim G helped us locate several of the wines we were on a mission to find. He spent nearly 30 minutes with us and ensured we found everything we wanted. He also offered some great recommendations based upon our favorites. We so appreciated his passion and expertise! Maybe it's better we don't live close to this place because we'd spent way too much money way too often!

I had to drop my car off at DeFalco's Auto Body Shop to fix a nasty scratch, so while we were in the area, we decided to hunt down some good food and a cold beer. That's how we stumbled upon River Grille, and with the great reviews, we figured it was worth a try. Spoiler alert: it did not disappoint! We started with the French onion soup, which arrived hot and bubbling with a golden blanket of melted cheese over a rich, flavorful broth. Next, we had the crab cake, perfectly crisp on the outside and brimming with sweet, tender crab meat inside, served over a bed of creamy risotto that was so good it could have been a meal on its own. For the main event, we split their signature cheesesteak, and wow--now I understand why it's their bestseller. The roll was soft yet sturdy, the steak juicy and flavorful, and the cheese tied everything together beautifully. The service was warm and efficient, striking that perfect balance between friendly and unobtrusive. The bar's bodice-themed decor adds a quirky, rustic charm that makes the place feel both relaxed and inviting. Given how much we enjoyed everything, I think a second visit is definitely on the agenda when I head back to pick up my car. The Chatham River Grille has come a long long way since its humble beginnings as Flynn's Tavern. I went there recently after the grand opening in April and the changes and upgrades have left this place unrecognizable from its previous persona. The new owner and head chef Eric Moody, has a real knack for producing satisfying grub, that will leave all types pleased. Killer salads (made the GF happy) to steaks, burgers, pastas and pub fare. The last time I visited I had the french dip with beer battered onion rings (Im a sucker for roast beef) accompanied by a pint of Guinness. You come for the food but the super friendly staff, TVs, good beers and strong drinks keep you at the bar chatting with the group next to you and feeling a little like you are in the cast of "Cheers" (did I just date myself? :) ) Definitely recommend the place for a good time, and some great food. read more

I have to tell you, my husband and I were always hesitant to come here. We only live 2 miles away and typically go to Madison or Summit for our "night out". We saw in the paper that this place was under new ownership with a new menu so we stopped in. It was happy hour so there was a mixed bag at the bar. We had a drink and were getting ready to leave. The bartender asked us if we wanted menus and we said we were probably just going to have a drink or 2. He (his name is Rich- he is GREAT) gave us some backround on the new chef and we decided to look at a menu. He recommended the muscles. I have to tell you...they were to die for!! After another cocktail, we had a burger and the Baked Penne.....SO GOOD. They even bought us a cocktail as a "welcome to the new river grille". Excellent beer selection, friendly service and an atmosphere where everyone is comfortable - construction workers, Chatham moms, guys after golf and families - something for everyone. A fun variety of stuff at night - live music, open mic, karaoke. A great place to watch games. But most importantly, this is some of the best food I've found around so far. The (white wine & garlic) mussels are perfection. The burgers and sliders are all solid. The cheesesteak will fill you up - but for some reason is better at night than at lunch. The beer on tap is extremely fresh tasting which usually means the lines are well maintained and there is good turnover. The burger is HUGE and tastes great, it's so big it barely fits on the bun, which some may not like but I do. It was basically two meals of meat, and cooked perfectly. The fries are probably the best I've ever had no kitting nice and seasoned and crispy not undercooked like happens at many places. Crab cake appetizer has an amazing amount of crabmeat. Great place with a great new atmosphere. It's certainly changed from the old vibe of the Town Tavern to now. It's now a family friendly place during the dining hours and I enjoy being able to bring my kids there. The staff is friendly and energetic and the place offers something for everyone on their menu. It's also a fun place to hang out with just the friends to hear some good live music and be well taken care of by the bar staff. Recently I tried this summer's menu and the halibut was extremely good, one of the best seafood dishes I've had, paired with fries it was a lovely meal. I love the mocktails, salads, and of course the spicy lamb meatballs which I hope they NEVER take off the menu as it's the reason I fell in love with his place many years ago.

The dish came with guacamole and potatoes (with sauce) and it was a magnificent medley of flavors. We were a party of 12 and I sampled several dishes including the beet and carrot salad, salmon club sandwich and a hamburger. All was good (though I like my steak and eggs the best). This is a relatively small restaurant and it was rather loud when we went on a Sunday morning. It was ,however, well-worth visiting.

The staff here is a big part of what made it fun - from the bartenders to management (thanks Steven) everyone went above and beyond to make sure the wedding after-party was as special as the event itself. The restaurant and its next door steakhouse were packed...and am guessing that this affected the flatbread pizzas (undercooked) we ordered for sharing. The burger and calamari were spot on. What's neat is that the steakhouse bar is steps away and both share a deep and varied wine list - 1/2 bottles and large format as well. Fun night! Great hangout spot for locals!

First of all, $16.50 plus $1.50 for mushrooms, even with sales tax, doesn't equal $20.88. I was told my balance was 88 cents. I was also told that if I paid the balance in cash, it would cost $1.00 because they don't give change. I could have used my card for the 88 cents. Seriously? I get the no penny issue, but not giving change? That has to be all kinds of illegal. I should say I don't give change, and should have walked away. So I get to my room, open the box, and it isn't even a pizza - it's a flatbread!!! I definitely won't be back!!!!
