This place is super cute, very clean, and the shop owner is incredibly friendly! They have a great variety of donuts to choose from, plus some delicious savory options, which I love. The ham, cheese, jalapeño croissant was amazing! The shop itself is small and quaint, and when I arrived, there were quite a few regulars coming in. The owner greeted everyone warmly and made the whole place feel welcoming. She could tell I wasn't from the area, chatted with me for a moment, and then rang me up for my three dozen donuts. LOVE THIS PLACE! Delicious! Me and my fiancé come here all of the time. It's awesome that they have a drive thru sometimes we're in such a rush we wouldn't be able to stop by if it wasn't for the drive thru. We always see the same person, I'm guessing she's the owner. I love it when I find a donut store that covers all the options. Numerous choices of donuts, kolaches, croissant sandwiches, tea and coffee. This place also benefits from the fact that it is in a strip center right next-door to ACC. Inside they have six small tables to sit at and lots of drinks in a cooler off to the side. They are open 5 AM to 1 PM seven days a week which is great if you're an early commuter. Unfortunately, I arrived after noon and the case held very slim pickens. I can only assume this place does a lot of business in the early morning hours with the students. The lady behind the counter was nice enough to throw in an extra donut for free. Definitely a place I would frequent if only it was closer to home. The tip screen will be waiting when you run your credit card, but at least the gratuity is reasonable. read more

I stopped here based on the reviews, but would not had anyone mentioned how dirty the place is. I though maybe just the windows, but inside was equally as dingy. Oddly the glass cases looked very clean so I opted to get few donuts because I did not want to have to make another stop, but the came out the credit card machine and I knew that I should have skipped it. Hands down the best donuts we have had in Austin. They melt in your mouth so soft and airy but not soggy or stale at all. The perfect amount of icing and it doesnt flake off and make a huge mess or melt as you are eating it. I came in at 10am on a Monday and there was noone else there but they had a good amount of fresh donuts! Its clean and simple inside. They have breakfast tacos and croissant sandwiches as well. We ordered a blueberry cake donut, chocolate frosted and a traditional glaze, as well as a mocha cooler for a drink. I literally dream about their glazed donut, it's one of the best I've ever had. Melts in your mouth. I've only ever had their donuts but they also sell breakfast tacos and kolaches. The young lady that works behind the counter is always so friendly. Highly recommend! Their prices are very reasonable but just remember to bring cash because there is a 3 dollar minimum for card. The best donuts around here! So so so good!!! We ordered croissant sandwiches (ham egg cheese) and kolache made out of croissant dough. We also ordered cake donuts, an eclair, and an apple fritter. The cake donuts were perfectly airy and the best I've had! The croissant sammie was delicious. The croissant kolache was really good as well (sausage cheese). The eclair and apple fritter were great in size and decadent in flavor. They threw in extra donut holes- quite a few!! We loved every minute of this breakfast. While I understand we are in the middle of a public health crisis and that many businesses are not accepting cash I forgot my wallet at home and only had a $20 bill that was in my car. Turns out my $20 bill did not meet their standards. I tried to order 3 donuts and they told me they didn't have change. This is completely understandable so I offered to buy an additional dozen donuts (total of 15 donuts now) and told them to just keep the change and accept it as a tip. They turned away for a minute and came back and said that my $20 bill was "too old" and that they would not accept it. I didn't have my wallet on me, which is my mistake, and only had that $20. Still, they would not accept it and told me that it was too old and they won't take it. I really hate to complain but it's really hard to grasp the idea of a restaurant in this economic climate turning away guests because their money is too old. I've attached a picture for reference. It's also completely legal tender and not counterfeit. I live in the area and was looking for a new place to get coffee and donuts. River City Donut genuinely has the most delicious donuts/kolaches/breakfast tacos I've had in years... Maybe EVER! I've been on a donut kick the last few months and have tried a lot of local spots around Austin. These surpass any others I've tried by far. Also, the business owner is honest and generous! She rang up all my items, and it was a reasonable (if not a little overpriced) $20 for everything (mixed donuts, kolaches, BF taco, large chocolate milk). As I was about to enter my card, she stopped me and said she must have rang up the items wrong... "It's way too much; let me see." She realized she'd double-charged my kolaches and fixed it, and the price came down to $14, which felt like a steal at that point! Some may say, "Big deal, she charged you what you were supposed to pay in the first place, " but honest business goes a long way to me, especially in a small business like a family donut shop. She could have easily not noticed the price and accidentally overcharged me, or she could have noticed but not gone through the trouble to stop me... My card was already out. Instead, she was honest AND aware. It's almost been two weeks since I stopped in, and I'm still so pleased with the whole experience I came back to write this review. Bacon egg and cheese taco was terrible at best The lighting in this place reminds me of a creepy movie. The brown icing is not chocolate flavored... The croissant kola he with jalapeño and cheese was soggy and flavorless Chocolate muffin was pretty thick... Ive had stomach problems all day...intense pain that comes and goes... Came here for a quicky breakfast on a Saturday I had to work. I came in around 10am, so it looked like a lot of their bfast sandwich selection was gone as I got the last of the bacon egg, cheese, croissants. I also got an americano and a choc donut w/sprinkles. Everything was just kinda OK. The Americano was not as strong as I would have liked and the sandwich was warmed in a micro, so it was not that great either and the donut was just so so, but everything for $6 wasn't too bad either. I don't know that I would go out of my way to come back here unless it is "close to work and need a quick bfast fix" situation again. read more

Finally an independent donut shop that delivers something more than the standard fare. Their Chocolate Honey Glazed donut is incredible. They have many more varieties but be warned on some days if they have a run, you may be limited on what you can get. The Other offerings; Coffee, BFKST Croissant Sandwiches and BFKST Tacos are there for those who dont want a donut or pastry. The Croissants are better in quality over the taco. I like the Sausage Egg and Cheese Croissant on off donut days. The standard brew coffee is avg at best, which is what you get with most donut places. I would recommend that they get some Starbucks brew to help improve. The Cappuccino, Mocha and other extended coffee drinks are really good, they are hand made , not a machine powder substitute like most. The owner and staff symbolize the american dream. Own your own business, and deliver a fine quality product. I will be stopping there anytime I have the donuts urge. Drive Thru Window, good prices and open till 1pm each day. Exceptional service! The lady who runs the place is incredibly nice. She remember what you order as well. Second visit, she asked if I needed a smoothie (which is what I ordered a few days earlier on my first visit). Today, I ordered a smoothie and approximately a week and a half later she remembered I didn't want whipped cream on it. Pretty impressive. Breakfast tacos are nothing special, but will satisfy your hunger. The donuts, on the other hand, are exceptionally good. Possibly the best blueberry cake donut I've ever eaten. Sadly, since it was already past noon on a Sunday, there was not much selection left. We tried a couple of donut holes (the lady was nice enough to throw extra in the bag for us, probably because leftovers would get tossed anyway), which were decent. The breakfast tacos were surprisingly good. The bacon egg & cheese was tasty, but the potato & egg was shockingly delicious. You get a little cup of salsa with each taco and it's a very nice combination. We're from out of town, but if we lived closer I would have liked to come earlier in the day to try the donuts and kolaches. They also have a drive-thru.
