This was after I moved things around
Miguel R.

I don't even know where to begin with this review. I walked in and noticed that all the tables were dirty. There was just 1 table sitting and a sign that said seat yourself. I decided the counter since tables were dirty. Shortly after several tables walked in and people were told find a clean table. I will say that it appeared as though only 1 person was serving everyone because the other staff member was more back room and also not pleasant. you could tell the server was having a day. But after witnessing what the other person said to them I can understand the frustration. Even as guests began to be ignored the person who seemed to be in back responded you are going to have to wait for food and menus. No explanation no apology. So when it came to ordering as I mentioned the server seemed to have her head somewhere else. I asked about making a simple modification. I wanted sausage gravy on the side. Apparently the gravy is just gravy and sliced sausage on top. So not sausage gravy per say. Then the gravy lacked flavor. But since it's not made with the sausage no rue can be created with the flower and milk. Definitely a water based gravy. When I asked about how the haystack came since it says fried hash brown and side of potatoes I said that's a lot of potatoes can I just do sausage for the potatoes. I wasn't told that the hash brown is decoration on top and not actually as a side. Food was nothing to rave about. So with all that said. I can excuse the service and the wait but the food quality wasn't there for me to say I would come back. It was really 3 strikes Bad service Poor food quality Lack of welcoming atmosphere What's funny is the owners response to review. They say I said I don't get my sausage but I never mentioned that. Also said I got discount never happened. Said I was rude. Wasn't true I was patient the entire time. Others actually complained they had t been helped or food hadn't come out. Also Server told me the manager is picky and rude. The response proves why you should not go back. So many better options. I don't like leaving bad reviews but to many negatives here.

We really wanted to like it but sadly it wasn't very good. The coffee isn't hot, at all. Even after a refill still not hot. The iced tea either wasn't brewed today or it hadn't been stirred. We asked the waitress and she said it was brewed and not instant. This should have been our sign to leave but we went ahead and ordered food. The waitress was polite and attentive. The food had either too much seasoning or no seasoning at all. One bite of nothing but pepper on the squash/potatoes side dish. The chicken on the chicken and waffles was over fried to the point even with a fork and knife it was difficult to cut let alone chew. With so many other breakfast options near here, I would not go back.

A warm welcome & a filling feast! Stopped in and ordered the French toast with berries, chicken & waffles, and the cinnamon pancake platter (which came with eggs and sausage) -- and let me tell you, everything hit the spot. Each dish was hearty, flavorful, and came out hot and fresh. The French toast was perfectly soft with just the right amount of sweetness from the berries. Chicken & waffles? Crispy, tender, and well-balanced. And those cinnamon pancakes? Straight-up comfort food. Beyond the food, the vibe was incredibly welcoming. The owner personally came up to our table, checked in, and made us feel genuinely appreciated. You don't always get that level of hospitality -- it stood out in the best way. If you're looking for friendly service and a satisfying, belly-filling meal, this spot delivers.

The avocado toast and vanilla ice cream matcha are amazing! The restaurant is quiet and great for a relaxing meal. Sydney, my server, is kind and makes the experience even more enjoyable. I would definitely recommend to a friend!

The food selection was broad, but not too busy. I ordered the Oxbow Sourdough Burger. The meat patty was thick, seasoned well, and made to perfection. It had mushrooms, cheese, and bacon. The bacon was thick and crisp. Yum! The French fries were to die for! They have truffle, sweet potato, and garlic. I ordered a mix of sweet potato and garlic. I highly recommend both. The truffles were on top of the fries, if that is how you like them, but the sweet and garlic fries were a HIT! They had a myriad of drinks and sweets and the ambience is so country chic and the restrooms were beautifully decorated AND spotless! Now the best part. The staff was SUPER friendly! You could tell they wanted to be there. We were there for the last hour and they were all so warm and welcoming! One girl even volunteered to take a family pic of us as we were headed out. This is a hidden gem that I will definitely return to! Thank you for the wonderful dining experience!

You can sit in or outside with your fur babies which is a rarity Menu is fresh, albeit a little pricey in my opinion. 2 burgers and a grilled cheese was 76 bucks. Also be careful as they automatically tip at check out and you order inside and they bring the food to you. Thats it. You fill and refill your own drinks and there is no table service. All in all it was a good experience and was pleasant outside on a nice Saturday for brunch. Well definitely be back since they are so dog friendly.

Everything we ordered was delicious. The guacamole tasted super fresh, the queso was flavorful and came in a generous portion, and the salsa had just the right amount of kick without being too spicy. The only small hiccup was the chips situation--they give you big portions of guac, queso, and salsa, but the chips come in a tiny bowl. (Literally 10 chips) very sad for 6 people to fight over so little of chips. Not a huge deal, just a bit surprising. We also tried the margaritas--they had great flavor, though they tasted absent of tequila. Overall, we really enjoyed it and would definitely go back...maybe next time we bring our own chips! :)

If I could give La Fondita Mexican Restaurant six stars, I would legally change the rating system…read morejust to make it happen. Let me set the scene: I walked in expecting a casual meal and maybe a decent taco. What I got instead was a borderline spiritual awakening wrapped in foil and served with rice and beans. First of all -- the giant piña colada. When they say giant, they are not messing around. This thing arrived like it had its own gravitational pull. I'm pretty sure I saw a small family of tourists orbiting it. One sip and I was transported to a beach that doesn't even exist on any map -- coconutty, icy perfection with just enough kick to make me briefly consider texting my boss that I've moved to an island and won't be returning. Then came the beans. Listen carefully: I don't throw this word around lightly -- perfect. These beans were so good I genuinely paused mid-bite and just stared into the middle distance reevaluating my entire life. Creamy, rich, seasoned like someone's abuela whispered ancient secrets into the pot. I would trust these beans with my taxes, my passwords, and honestly my emotional well-being. And the corn tortillas... dear lord, the corn tortillas. I have had tortillas in many places, including at my own abuela's table -- and saying this feels like confessing a sin -- but these might be the best I've ever had besides abuela's. Warm, soft, slightly charred in all the right places, like they were handmade by someone who has been perfecting this craft since before I was born and possibly before electricity was invented. If I could build a house out of these tortillas, I would. I would live there. Happily. And then--just when I thought things couldn't escalate further--the huevos rancheros arrived. Eggs cooked to that perfect sweet spot where the yolk still has a little rebellion left in it, laid over a bed of everything that matters, all tied together with a sauce that refuses to be anything less than unforgettable. It's the kind of breakfast that makes you question why you ever settle for anything less in life. Comforting, bold, and somehow both rustic and wildly impressive at the same time. Everything else on the plate? Outstanding. Rice that actually deserves to be eaten and not just politely ignored. Salsa that sneaks up on you like, "oh this is nice--OH okay there it is." Service? Friendly, fast, and somehow emotionally supportive. Atmosphere? The kind of place where you immediately feel like a regular even if it's your first time. Final verdict: If you are anywhere within a 50-mile radius of Denton and you are not eating at La Fondita Mexican Restaurant, you are making a series of deeply questionable life choices. I came in hungry. I left changed.
