Stopped in here while traveling through, glad we did. It's open seating so sit where you like, this place feels welcoming and warm when you walk in, has nice custom paintings on the wall (painted by the owners mother and are for sale), tables were custom made by owners father, coffee coasters made by the grandmother. Staff is polite, it's busy so be patient, the best is yet to come. The food is delicious, we had breakfast. Wife had the bacon burrito which was delicious, said just needed her green chile lol. I have visited this restautant a few times, but just realized I haven't made a review. On Sunday, after waking up on time for church, but not getting out the house on time because my "precious angels" decided that it was the day to ignore every single instuction and instead wrestle for 2 hours so we missed church. I was so frustrated and on top of that the whole house was starving!! I knew that I had no energy to grocery shop and cook so we headed to Rising Sun. Good food and affordable prices. I've been here with my youngest son, but this was the first visit for my hubby and oldest son. They were very impressed. They are big eaters and were both full! (That itself earns this establishment 5 stars). I expected a long wait since it was Sunday after church time, but we were greeted and seated right away (BONUS STARS). I ordered 2 egg breakfast w/ Sausage, hubby ordered breakfast burrito W/ side of hash browns, oldest ordered veggie scramble and youngest ordered pancakes w/side of bacon and scrambled egg (you have to order sides separately when ordering pancakes. It was odd at first, but it was still only $6 so it was ok). Our food came out in a timely manner and was hot and fresh and correct. We all ate our food without any complaints and the best part of it all was our family of 4 ate for under $30. This was a steal. Even if I went to the store, I would have spent more than that. Molly was our server and she was great. Kept our drinks full, cleared our tables and was very pleasant. This was the perfect cure for my rough morning. So to Rising Sun, Thank you! I have to start off by saying the people who work here are so friendly :) The unique feature is the drive thru option. It's not a fast food restaurant so I was surprised to see that. The bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit I ordered was tasty. Unlike many other breakfast places I've been to in the area, they actually melted all of the cheese! They get four stars instead of five because the poboy doughnuts were a hot mess. I appreciate the fact that they weren't stale but they were way too sweet. There was a thick sugar coating on each one. There was actually more sugar than there was dough therefore making them hard instead of crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. This review is based on the service, and hashbrowns! Lol. I went in on a Sunday and placed a to go order for mi Padre. The gentleman assisting me was very nice, helpful and patient after having to call my father a couple of times to confirm his order when I was presented with options. We ended up getting the 3 egg combo and I stole a piece of hashbrown and liked the crunchiness to it. The gentleman gave me a menu with their number on it to take with me and stated they had a drive through option for both regular and to go orders, and I thought that was neat (and yes, its an actual restaurant). Oh Yelp, you've done your matchmaking again! My stomach thanks you. I would have never known about Rising Sun, but came across some of its good reviews on here and decided to give it a try for Friday brunch. Major success! If I'm in Unicorn Lake I typically visit Sidewalk Cafe, which I still love, but can see some perks to Rising Sun. They're very affordable, have a to go window, and the menu is limited enough that my head doesn't want to blow up from decision making. I accidentally ended up here two days in a row after forgetting my credit card, but had no problem finding something delicious each time. I've tried the pulled pork bfast burrito (add onions, mushrooms, jalapeños!), bacon-egg-cheese bfast sandwich on a homemade English muffin, poboy donuts (come with bfast sammies), coffee, and the mushroom Swiss burger with onion rings. Every damn thing was delicious and worth repeating. The pulled pork stole the spotlight, though, with lots of flavor. Weird preference, but I love that the ingredients are well mixed before nestled in the tortilla. Makes each bite better than the last with perfect flavor balance! Friday lunch the place was DEAD, but I was happy to see it busy on Saturday. I'll definitely be back, perhaps to take advantage of their to go window or try out their dinner delights. Breakfast was great. They can customize anything and nearly everything. Very accommodating. My kiddos shared the short stack of the cinnamon roll pancakes. They were amazing. The pancakes they have here are probably some of my favorites. The short stack us three pancakes and they're decent size so it was great for my two toddlers to split. We are traveling with our dog and the server gave her a dog treat. We ordered a Sausage Burrito, Veggie Burrito and a side order of scrambled eggs. All were cooked to perfection. Rising Sun Cafe is one of the greatest brunch cafes I've ever been to. You can expect your classic eggs, hash browns, and pancakes made to order on top of the breakfast burritos, onion rings, sirloin, and even sandwiches. The hash browns were particularly well seasoned and the pancakes were fluffy and full of chocolate chips. You can tell the food was fresh and made with (cheesy, but true) love. The service was a huge part of the experience and I couldn't have been happier. The waiter was attentive, patient, and kind. To be honest, I find it difficult to have great service in such a big, beautiful and popular brunch cafe, especially since we came at a crowded time. But Rising Sun Cafe had the whole package. About a year ago my husband and I were driving around and discovered this place by accident. We pulled up to their window, which turned out to be a pick up window, but the owner's father was soooo sweet and let us place an order and hang out while they made it. This allowed a lot of time for observation and we could tell this was a small, family operated place and really liked the vibe we were getting. We ordered off the lunch menu and it all smelled so good that we couldn't make it home. We pulled over to a parking lot and enjoyed pork tenderloin, pulled pork, fries and tots- all of which was freshly made and really yummy! It's a really nice memory. A few months later we dined in during the breakfast rush on a day they were really short handed. My husband had a salad that he said was good and I ordered a very cheap breakfast sandwich that was not to my taste preference. It was pulled pork and Swiss and it really came down to it not being the kind of thing I would enjoy so I don't know why I ordered it. This place had been 3 1/2 stars in my mind from the two visits and I really had been meaning to give them another try. There is just so much to choose from in the area and I can't believe we had not returned sooner. We were in the area because I was expecting a call from my dealership any minute to pick up my vehicle and I wanted to be close by when we got the call. We arrived a little after 2:30pm on Saturday and noticed we were the only customers. We sat down and Brittany brought us our menus. I saw on the menu that they close at 3pm on the weekends and I felt bad we came so close to their closing time but they were very welcoming to us. Dining inside is really nice. There are a lot of windows, the tables are beautiful wood and there is a lot of art and decorative items around. It's a tasteful and pleasant vibe. My husband decided it was time to try their hamburger that comes with their house made chips for $8.99. I remember their pork tenderloin being good and frankly I tend to order pork where I can get it since it's weirdly hard to find in the south, so I got the pork tenderloin sandwich with tater tots for $9.24. Before I dive into the food, I need to talk about the service. Brittany checked on us frequently and offered us a lot that we didn't even need, she was so sweet and eager to help, just a great impression of the place. The owner and chef, Adam, stopped by to introduce himself. Really nice guy, really young, talked about some of the items we ordered and encouraged us to not feel rushed since they still had cleaning to do. Service was 6 stars yesterday! Okay, back to the food. Tater tots have been freshly served on each visit and never overdone, will continue to order them. The house made chips were thick and crispy and an interesting offering. My husband finished every single bite of that burger and said it was good. To understand what I am going to say about the pork tenderloin will require looking at the pictures and to be perfectly honest I wanted to take more pictures since I know my words wouldn't do it justice but I was afraid more pictures would be borderline crazy. The portion is enormous, just ridiculously large, The pork tenderloin is easily 2 1/2 or 3 meals worth from what they served. The size elicited exclamations of surprise and awe from us as we took pictures, I cannot do justice to the serving size of pork tenderloin and what is easily 2 portions of tater tots for $9.24, I couldn't even appropriately express my shock and awe to the owner. If you look at the picture of my plate from above, it looks like a large portion. If you look at the side view, this thing is crazy big! I realized I couldn't fit that in my mouth and needed an empty plate to work with. I pulled the pork tenderloin off the bread with the intention of cutting it in half and when it was spread out, it took up an entire plate!!! I cut off the sides for the sandwich and the rest to go. Adam is certainly generous with his portions here, it's amazing. There is some fat on the pork tenderloin but most of it is pounded out. I enjoyed the pork tenderloin, both the meat and the crispy breading were delicious, and had a very heavy to go container with two more meals in it when I left. I recommend you either order it when you know you are going home so you can put your left overs in the fridge or that two people share this plate- you will not be able to finish this is in one sitting. I genuinely feel this place is 4 1/2 stars and I feel torn because they are better than 4 stars (and other places rated 4 stars) but I haven't been in and tried enough variety for my normal comfort level on a 5 star rating. Normally I have dined in on multiple occasions and have had at least a third of the menu when I confidently rate a place that high but I am just too impressed with the service and owner to hold out on this place. I definitely plan on coming back and trying more so I can prove my gut feeling about this place right!:) read more

This is our 2nd time here and the service was excellent (thank you Nadine). I got the 2 egg plate, and the eggs and hash browns were very good. The eggs had more flavor than most places and the hash browns were nice and crispy. We found out they deep fry their hash browns instead of cooking them in a skillet or flat top grill. So many places you go they are either over cooked and almost burnt or they are almost soggy and you can taste all of the butter or oil they cooked them in. Gross! The Rising Sun makes them just right and I enjoyed them. I also had a Vanilla Latte which was very good. The only thing I was disappointed in was the bacon. It was very greasy, very fatty and small. Next time I will try the sausage. Overall it was very good and we will return. read more

I would like to try lunch for sure. My 3 star is simply because I ordered coffee with cream and sugar. I only had two small creams and there was no sugar so I didn't drink my coffee. We have eaten here at least 6 times with friends over the last few months. Generally our table of friends is happy with the food and service. But I have not been so lucky. I have not written a review until today, even though I've been tempted, but today was too much. Not only was my food the last to be served, but the pancakes were cold, the syrup cold and the bacon barely cooked. Really? I sent the bacon back, but didn't bother with the rest. How can a restaurant not serve hot pancakes or if not hot, at least give me hot syrup to make up for it. I told my table today was my last time there. I'm tired of being served a bad meal. read more

Not bad for a little cafe. The atmosphere is nice; clean, plus there is interesting art on the walls. The menu is small, which is surprisingly refreshing. They have board games to play while you wait, so our kids were kept entertained and happy. They don't give much meat with the "2 eggs, meat, toast, and hash brown breakfast" (only one sausage patty given), but it was pretty good. The kids liked the breakfast. Our teenager ordered the grilled chicken sandwich, which came with interesting homemade looking potato chips. The sausage breakfast burrito was very flavorful. The service was friendly and inviting. For a family consisting of Mom, Dad, teen, and toddler (whose meal was shared with Mom), the cost was right at $30. We felt it was a touch on the pricy side, which is why we only gave 4 stars.
