Sad avacado on overcooked eggs for my Skillet
    Ralph B.

I Really like that this is not a chain restaurant. It seems like chains dominate breakfast. The restaurant is quite small and has a nice feel about it. Also seems like all of the servers are high school kids, or perhaps early college, and they are trying so very hard to please, which I respect. Service was fast. For the price, however, I thought the food was just average. My wife had the Parisian, which is two slices of French toast, two eggs any style, two strips of bacon or two sausage patties. Nothing special here, and the Ewing' toast looked kind of like something from the freezer case at Kroger. I had the Sante Fe Skillet, which is chorizo sausage, jalapeño peppers, onions, tomatoes and topped with fresh avocado. One of the smaller skillet meals I have had, and not really in a skillet at all. The eggs were a bit overdone and as you can see the "topped with fresh avocado" was very very sad. I just can't recommend it. Perhaps the chains are the way to go.

Decided to stop In and grab breakfast before church. To my surprise this place is fire. The service was amazing. Entire staff from front to back of house. Everyone I interacted with was friendly and smiling. The food came out fast and was more than I could have expected. Eggs fluffy, flavor in the gravy. Awesome homemade hot sauce. Everything about this place was on point entire experience was perfect.

Our server was so nice and friendly. She handled my father in laws sarcasm and gave it right back to him! I wish I could remember her name, but she was awesome! My pancakes were soo delicious. If you have a sweet tooth, I highly recommend. It is a cute little breakfast place.

    Turkey & Avocado Wrap w/Okra

We have been coming here for years - not sure what has changed (ownership? Manager?) but it's been a steady decline. What might be considered typical substitutions on plates (i.e. jalapeños instead of green peppers or toast instead of tortillas) are all up-charged separately. Additionally, the attached photo was my turkey and avocado wrap with okra for $12. Tasted okay, but pretty sad looking plate. Things are going to have to change otherwise there are way too many other brunch places in the area to choose from.

Chicken fried steak with gravy, soft scrambled eggs and hash browns

Went for a late breakfast (around 10:30). I was afraid there would be a wait, and with my fiancé being diabetic,I had concerns. We had apparently just missed the rush so we were seated immediately. I went in with the plan to order the Avocado Benedict, but when we entered the restaurant, we were overwhelmed with the wonderful scent of syrup. Thus, my plans changed. I ordered the chicken fried steak breakfast. Soft scrambled eggs - perfect. Chicken fried steak - perfect. Gravy - perfect. Hash browns - not only perfect, but was asked if I wanted them crispy. I did not, and had never been asked that before, but was appreciative of the question. My stepfather only wants hash browns if they are crispy, so he would have been happy too. Pancakes with that wonderful syrup - perfect! We hadn't been to The Golden Egg for quite some time, but am so glad we decided to go this morning!

    This is what we left!

The food selection was broad, but not too busy. I ordered the Oxbow Sourdough Burger. The meat patty was thick, seasoned well, and made to perfection. It had mushrooms, cheese, and bacon. The truffles were on top of the fries, if that is how you like them, but the sweet and garlic fries were a HIT! They had a myriad of drinks and sweets and the ambience is so country chic and the restrooms were beautifully decorated AND spotless! Now the best part. The staff was SUPER friendly! You could tell they wanted to be there. We were there for the last hour and they were all so warm and welcoming! One girl even volunteered to take a family pic of us as we were headed out. Between the beautiful blue aesthetic and the calming ocean scenes playing on the TVs, the entire environment feels like a peaceful escape. It is incredibly clean, cute, and has such a welcoming vibe. It's rare to find a spot that feels both stylish and genuinely relaxing. Whether you're there for a quick caffeine fix or a slow morning, the "coastal calm" is real. Bringing a toddler to a coffee house can be a challenge (#iykyk!), and there's only so much you can do to keep things under control. I am so grateful to the staff here; they were incredibly kind, patient, and showed us so much grace. It makes such a difference for parents! I ordered the Blueberry Lemonade, and it was refreshing and delicious. My friend loved her Honey Lavender Latte, and her daughter clearly approved of the Cinnamon Roll--she polished off every bit of the cream cheese frosting! They have full breakfast and lunch menus along with a great selection of baked goods. Everything in the case looked amazing. The shop is tucked into a smaller shopping area. Great service, funky little joint, beloved by the neighborhood…read more Prices in person are really high. You only get the online prices if you order before noon the day before. A dozen bagels and a rub of cream cheese will set you back $31. Ordering the day before it'll be $24 Einstein's is $19.75 for 13 bagels and 2 tubs of cream cheese and I didn't taste much of a difference. The lox and fresh veggie options are good but they don't have breakfast sandwiches here. James Beard Award and DDD visits are great but not sure that justifies a $5 price tag for a bagel & schmear and jumping through hoops to order so they know what kind of bagels to make and how many staff they need

Reposting my review that I also just made on Google…read more I'll be honest, I was shocked to see as many 1--3 star reviews for this place. I get it - it's a little pricy outside of waiting for the $1 bagels between 12pm-1pm - but holy schikies the quality is amazing. The bagels themselves - all 10/10. The schmears are insanely good - the basil schmear literally blew my mind. I didn't know a schmear could taste that refreshing. The cucumber sandwich - incredible - never would have thought bagel, with cream cheese and cucumber could be THAT good. Sure - it's a bit pricy pre-12pm (but what placing selling real food with real ingredients isn't these days!) spent $40 on a sandwich, bagel with butter and bagel with the fermented jalapeno schmear - but sorry not sorry - still worth it. All these cry babies in these lower reviews complaining about how the bagel they wanted was no available - it's because they are that good. Sorry - you snooze you lose. Get up earlier, preorder if you want it that bad. To the owners of Starship Bagel - hope you guys never sell out (well keep selling our of product so you stay in business yes) but you know not sell out to big mega food corps, and keep doing what you're doing. People need more food establishments making food out of actual real ingredients - not the slop bucket artificial BS that 99% of any other chain bagel shop is going to use. Just look up what Einstein puts in their highly processed schmere's, it's trash and it tastes like it too. Zero chance if they put out a basil schmere that it wouldn't be chock full of artificial junk - just look up the their strawberry schmere on Instacart - ingredients include: Maltodextrin (filler, usually corn based), Modified Food Starch (likely where the bioengineered junk is coming from as noted under the ingredients), Natural Flavor (God only knows where the hell that came from), Guar Gum (a soluble fiber derived from the ground endosperm of guar beans - not something I want in my schmere), Color (almost get a pass except they state they use Caramel which is usually an artificial / petrol base colorant that is not good for you), Carob Bean Gum (plant-based thickening agent and stabilizer - still don't want it), Xantham Gum (produced by fermenting sugar with the bacteria Xanthomonas campestris), and then lastly Natamycin (natural antifungal preservative produced by bacteria -Streptomyces natalensis - something you really want to eat much of?). I'm tired of fake food, that tastes like cardboard. That lacks any nutritional value. We should celebrate when new companies come out like this - and not only that - but they offer their bagels at $1 if they have any left over after 12pm. These people deserve a block party in their honor for producing such high quality products - that yes - those unwilling to wait till 12pm whose selections might be more limited - will have to pay a bit more. People who recognize quality and hard working people will continue to come here. Last note, if you're trying to avoid seed oils, soybean lecithin / soybean oil - this is also a great place for you - and its one of the few places my wife can actually eat at since 99% of places in the USA these days, even the ones you think are higher quality - use trash ingredients with soy as a base - these guys do not. For that I say thank you again - to the owners of Starship Bagel. You guys rock - don't listen to the winey cry baby haters.
