    Chocolate pancakes

Eight months later, the restaurant continues to have service problems. A minute after I was seated, a senior staff asked if I had been waited on. When she returned to where the waitstaff were mingling, no one did come to my table at that time. Of course, I did not expect anyone to come by so soon. Eventually, a waitress did come to take my order. Sometime later, an employee placed a large tray with various plates by my table. As he was to serve me those plates, another waitress stopped him and said they were for her table. There were two plates which she could not recognize. I said yes when she asked me if I had ordered those items. Rather than serving me my items, the employee returned the plates to the kitchen. Several minutes later, my waitress came by with those plates. Since it was the Saturday before Christmas, I decided to order the chocolate pancakes listed on their featured chalkboard. When my waitress asked if I wanted two or three, I opted for two. I also ordered sausage. Unfortunately, due to the taste and light color, the patties may have been chicken. After one bite, I decided just to finish the pancakes. Non-beef sausage must be the norm nowadays because, in the past, I would have been warned.

It has been about 2 years since Northlake Cafe opened near my neighborhood. We still enjoy going there for breakfast & lunch. I have tried many items on their menu, but this was the first time I noticed they had eggs Benedict with crabmeat. I got it and really liked it. I thought the Hollandaise was a little heavy, but still tasty. It is pretty large. It comes with 2; English muffin, which you can switch out, crabmeat, avocado and a perfect poached egg. I took one home and it was perfect the next morning for breakfast. And, the hollandaise sauce was also perfect, being in the refrigerator over night made it a little lighter. I like the Cafe' feel of the restaurant. It gives it the right ambiance. Service is usually very good. We have only had to wait a couple of times.

The skimpy "T" on my BLT.

Our server was great. My granddaughters' lunches were very good. Kids chicken tender meal and banana Nutella pancakes. My meal, however, left so much to be desired. The side salad was filled with a large clump of rotten, slimy lettuce hidden under the top tin layer of lettuce. Our server offered to replace it but I didn't trust the kitchen at that point and that rotten clump of lettuce actually left me nauseous. My BLT consisted of a LOT of lettuce, a decent amount of bacon and one paper thin sliver of Roma tomato. The slice of tomato on my rotten salad was more substantial than the sliver on my BLT.

We have loved this restaurant for breakfast for several years. They have a large variety of offerings on their menu but do a great job with everything we have tried. Their food is consistently good and arrives to the table quickly. Our favorites are the TexMex Skillet which is loaded with goodness, the Migas and the oatmeal. I know, oatmeal? Yes! It is the best we've had and loaded with fruit. It's a local favorite with a nice home town feel and a waitstaff that is friendly, efficient and so accommodating. Love Love (If you stop by, say Hi to Judy)

Although a small breakfast/lunch cafe, they seem to be busy the entire time they're open. Coffee is hot and flavorful, food is delicious cafe-fair, and service was awesome. We'll be back to this corner cafe for sure!

    Nice menu cover.

Good morning Yelpmates. Made the drive north of Fort Worth to Justin and Northlake house hunting. Hunger struck hard. Came here to you guys for the heads up on brunch. You lead me here, let's hope you're not pulling my leg. So far service is awesome, and the place is spacious, new, well-lit, nice cafe feel. Coffee came out in a sippy cup. Tiny. The coffee is weak. I'm adding an expresso shot, but the coffee is so far from coffee, it's closer to brown water. The shot placed it at a normal level. This is a miss. 1st world or not, coffees are universal. I ordered Country fried steak. Was fork tender. Eggs are a perfect over med. Potatoes were just barely cooked. No browning. Looked boiled then skillet tossed, but not browned. Service checked on the table maybe 6 times. Service made this 4 a 5 star. I do not doubt if I asked for the spuds to be browned they would have corrected, so I didn't bother. I felt confident they care, that's worth 5 stars. This was a winner. Would return were it on my trail. This is out of town though. Take care of yourselves.

This was our First Visit!! Great atmosphere bright and cheery.. the menu offered a lot of variety. The food well It was Not too bad .. but not the best .. I didn't like that the toast is served dry with cold butter on the side by request :( no fun putting cold butter on dry toast. Service was okay .. drinks were not filled and syrup/cream etc was not brought until it was almost too late - pancakes were great except again I love hot whipped butter melting on my pancakes and they serve cold little butter packets .. :( Omelet was decent .. not oversized by any means. Nothing fancy. Hashed browns .. hmm same, you could that tell they were not fresh grated potatoes - but they were fine, I would have preferred less grease.. chicken friend steak tasted good.. Nice little spot for breakfast though and I'll probably give them another shot and order some other items and see how it goes!!

Tres leches French toast. So good!!!! No syrup needed.

Best kept secret. It's not every day that you find a restaurant who's owners who care about supporting local farmers, providing the best and highest quality ingredients, and grow their own herbs etc. With a diverse menu you offering, won't be disappointed. They neglect to tell you that many many things are locally sourced, farm fresh and many are even organic. The back of the menu does hint at the special blue water that is complementary to every table and the fact that it is alkaline. If you're not familiar with the value of alkaline water for our bodies look it up! This is a great offering and I am so proud that they offer this here without hesitation or added cost. I wish the staff were more forthcoming about the quality ingredients in the food and the local sourcing. I think that the certainly should be celebrated. We've eaten here a couple of times now and have not had a bad meal. The staff are very attentive. Things move fairly quickly because they use handheld ordering devices and that also helps to expedite exiting because you can pay right at the table with the waiters device. We have enjoyed salads, eggs Benedict, steak and eggs, French toast, crêpes... Oh and mimosas!!!! they offer all of their French toast and a gluten-free offering, aside from the cinnamon roll one, and so far everything we've tried has been amazing. my very favorite though are the hashbrowns. I'm not even a big hashbrowns person but these are... Hands-down... The very best I have ever had. everyone at our table agreed.

I love Northlake Cafe! We usually go on Sunday's after church and I love their Gluten Free pancakes and waffles! Today I went for lunch and decided to try a sandwich on GF toast. It was good, but I'll be going back for pancakes and mimosa again soon! They have lots of Gluten Free options!

It has been a few years since I last visited this place. I was seated by a booth near the entrance,…read morewhich meant I was exposed to a chilly breeze whenever the door opened. Fortunately, it did not occur too often. The half and half in my coffee had leaked into the bottom of the nearly empty container. My waitress promptly replaced it with a container from a nearby booth. While sipping my coffee, I noticed an unusual texture on the rim. The mug had a slight chip, but I managed to overlook it. Instead of taking my food order when she served my coffee, she immediately left to attend to other tables. This unexpected delay gave me a chance to admire the muffins displayed in the case. When I spotted a Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip muffin, I decided to order a light breakfast and went with the Chorizo Tacos. Holding the tortilla prevent the toppings from falling out was a bit of a challenge. The red salsa lacked heat, while the green salsa provided a pleasant kick. Both salsas had softened the tortillas, making them unable to hold the ingredients securely. My hash browns were my favorite style--crispy on top and moist on the inside. If I had not planned on ordering a muffin, I would have easily enjoyed more than a couple bites. For someone who enjoys the combination of chocolate and peanut butter, the Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip muffin was delicious. Most of the chocolate chips were placed on top, with a smaller amount mixed into the batter. If I wanted a less chocolatey experience, I could simply skip the muffin top. But why would I do that?

Apparently pretty much all of their syrups are made in-house. They have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating options that are great for hosting larger get togethers. We had "Sandy Beaches", "Coco Loco", a cappuccino, a blueberry scone, and ordered some sandwiches to go. I think we liked the Sandy Beaches the best of the drinks. Coco Loco really needs to be shaken or stirred, but is excellent when the flavors are fully incorporated. (You gotta remember that the in-house syrups work a little differently than the highly processed stuff. If it tastes a little strong of coffee and not much of syrup... that means you need to try shaking or stirring.)

At that point I gave up and left without ever getting my order. It was a holiday weekend, so being busy wasn't surprising but the shop clearly was not staffed appropriately to handle the crowd. They only had ONE person working the espresso machine, which created a massive bottleneck while the line kept growing longer and longer. I understand rushes happen, but customers shouldn't be stuck waiting nearly an hour for coffee with no realistic end in sight. Management seriously needs to plan staffing better during peak times. Total waste of time.

I stopped by this afternoon and ordered several food items, a coffee, and one of their amazing candles. At the drive-thru, they handed me my food and let me know they'd bring the candle out separately. When I got home, I realized they had accidentally given me two candles, one was tucked inside my food bag and another had been brought out separately. I called to let them know because I wanted to pay for the extra candle (I absolutely love their candles and wanted to keep it!). The sweet lady I spoke with on the phone was incredibly kind and told me not to worry about it, they wanted me to enjoy the second candle on them. That level of customer service is so rare these days. Everyone was friendly, appreciative, and genuinely cared about making the experience a great one. Between the delicious food, fantastic coffee, and outstanding customer service, Marty B's continues to be one of my favorite places. And if you haven't tried their candles yet, you're missing out! I also liked the setup of the area with Marty's To-Go and Marty's Ice Cream right next door, it makes it feel like there's a lot going on around you. The coffee shop itself also has a bar, food options, and plenty of outdoor seating. The outdoor space with the fireplace looked so cozy, and I can already imagine how nice it would be there in winter with hot chocolate. I was already full, so I only stopped in for coffee this time, but definitely want to come back and try more. I got the iced lavender oat latte and really liked it. It was creamy, not too sweet, and the lavender flavor was subtle but still came through nicely. Really balanced and easy to drink. I also tried an off-menu salted caramel mocha, and that one was a miss for me. It was way too sweet, didn't really taste like salted caramel mocha, and wasn't creamy at all. It honestly gave me a headache after. Overall, 5 stars for the space, 3 for the lavender oat latte, and 0 for the salted caramel mocha.
