I went here for lunch because I had a training nearby. They weren't too busy. The service was attentive. The menu wasn't too big, but everything sounded great! I ended up with the club and onion rings. It was really good, and I only ate half! Small town feel for sure! read more

We came here maybe a year ago and it was awesome. The food was tasty, service was quick... but something that remained the same that I had forgotten is that you cannot go to the bathroom without being assaulted by intense cigarette smoke. Really you cannot smell it from the front dining area but there were literally people smoking in the back dining area and the smell lingered to the front. Did you know second and third hand smoking is actually more dangerous than smoking?! And this time around, we waited a really long time for our food. We ordered the chicken fried steak, hash browns and biscuit - the steak was yuck, the hashbrowns were mushy... maybe the biscuit was okay but subpar. The kids had breakfast taco and the eggs were just a weird texture. The bacon part was great nice and crispy and the tortilla was surprisingly decent. Then the second worse part was paying.. I was the second person in line as someone was finishing out.. another server had to come add something to a table while a long line had formed... then the gal let some other guy ring up before me even though I was clearly standing there. It was a terrible and long experience. The smoking itself will be a reason we never return. read more

Let's face it unfortunately there's not a lot of options for breakfast in Justin. Unfortunately the only option you have is the spur, one thing you can count on at this place is you will rarely get your breakfast the away you ordered it especially eggs unless you order scrambled, my last visit there ordered two eggs over easy. I got one egg over hard the other over medium I ordered dry hashbrowns. There was enough oil in them to change the oil in my truck. read more

Fairly good country food. Dishes are a hit or miss. It just depends on whether they are made from scratch or dumped out of a can. You will definitely know when you try it. We really like the Turkey and dressing and chicken fried steak. They also have daily specials and alternate their menu. It's so nice to see that option and is why we are repeat customers. We have loved breakfast here for several years. This week, we tried lunch (right at 11:00 when they started serving) and were disappointed. My burger was like a prefab frozen patty with little flavor. The fries were already cold and not many on the plate. A disappointment for $11. My husband's chicken fried steak was so tough he couldn't eat it. Maybe it was an off day but we will stick to breakfast there from now on. read more

My wife & i found this place by accident, & thought at first it was a good restaurant. In fact, the food is good. People seem friendly too. BUT, don't go eat there on a weekend. Service takes a dive on a saturday morning, for example. In our case, the waitress was more interested in paying attention to her boyfriend rather than wait on us. They're not rude, mind u. They just suck at waitressing. read more

Cannot say how being away makes all things better. :) Moved to Utah and don't have what I call "Meat & Three" - basically meat choice with veggies on a chalkboard that changes every day - like Lonesome Spur. Good 'ol fashion country cooking and a quaint hole-in-the-wall type restaurant on Justin, TX. Casual kitschy country decor that suits the feel of the restaurant well. The building seems to be an old auto shop of sorts based on some tale tale clues like old roll up doors. They have a ton of space inside, with places that could work well for private parties or groups. The food is down home grub and its yummy! We came for breakfast and I ordered the pecan waffle, which was pretty big and darn tasty. Others at the table ordered chicken fried steak with eggs and hashbrowns and toast. Eggs were cooked perfect. Toast was a bit overdone. Hash browns were just right. The chicken fried steak was big on size and flavor. The batter was well seasoned but not overpowering. Friendly staff and who kept the coffee coming...which is just how I like it. Definitely a great place to get some good old fashion home style country food in Justin, Tx. Breakfast was great. Love this place, Tracy is awesome. I get a cup of coffee and a Justin scramble with grilled jalapeños and onions with bacon. Lunch/dinner I always get the turkey dinner with the broccoli and cheesy rice when it's on the specials board. The next time I ordered, I paid attention to the process, and sure enough, and to my unbelief, out came (great value brand half and half). I informed the barista, that I am not able to drink that, and I had to switch to something else, because I can't stomach that nasty half an half. I hope they discontinue this practice or I'll have to find another coffee place. To continue producing a quality product, you must use quality ingredients. To cut corners and use substandard ingredients, may save the owner a few bucks, but will cost them more in the long run, by losing customers.

There were several open tables but it seems they take reservations or were allowing people to call-in to get on the list. We only ended up waiting 8 minutes which allowed us time to review the menu and decide what we wanted. Big wooden tables with comfortable wide chairs. Looked like a table sturdy enough for a bunch of Cowboys with chicken fried steak plates. Lol. They have a couple iced coffee drink specials. They even had a sign on the table for a special Valentines Dinner they're opening that evening for reservations only - $45/person. A few tables were getting a cinnamon roll to share as a starter. Looked yummy! We got HONEY BUTTER BISCUIT W/BREAKFAST POTATOES (8.99). Sooooooo good! Warm honey - we ordered our honey on the side instead of poured all over. 5/5 CHICKEN BISCUIT DELUXE (14.99) 5/5 One biscuit with cream gravy topped with fried chicken sprinkled with a little cheddar cheese topped with 2 eggs (your way) served with 2 strips bacon. It was really good and filling. Had nearly half leftover. Could have taken a nap after eating. Decaf coffee kept me warm on a cold morning. I want to go back to try their cinnamon roll, famous chicken fried steak, & other delicious sounding menu items! They had a tv scrolling pictures of their food which looked really good. My dad got the cowboy without a pancake, which he also described as being good. Despite the large size of the group and the amount of food ordered it arrived swiftly bringing joy to the whole group. Our server was very polite, friendly, and social. Almost no mistakes were made in the order except them forgetting to bring the gravy to the table for someone's dish. The environment of the restaurant was very traditional western inspired with a 3d wooden sign of the restaurant's logo on the wall as well as the word howdy spelt and made with horse shoes being hung above the kitchen door. I would definitely recommend this location and will be coming back.

Food was mediocre and would probably return due to it being close to our home, however I wouldn't necessarily recommend it as a place you "have to try". Overall, good spot if you're looking to dine quickly and have decent breakfast.
