I love the Texas decor. They have a spacious dining area. Parking was also very easy since it's in a private lot shared with other businesses. The kiddos had a great time running around Jungle Castle next door, and then eating brunch right after. They had enough high chairs to accommodate our three toddlers. We came in around 11am; and were provided both a breakfast and lunch menu. The portions were generous and price was affordable. I enjoyed my classic benedict. My son enjoyed the fries that were super crunchy. The side of fruits could use a little more strawberries. Everyone was chowing down without any issues. We appreciate that they were able to split the group bill readily. I'll drop a few suggested improvements. I called around 7:30am to make a reservation for a party of 8. When we arrived at the reserved time, they seemed surprise to see us and had to quickly assemble the tables/chairs together - luckily there were plenty of room to make a quick last minute arrangement. My friend and I also ordered a side of fries, but instead received double fruits as our sides. Overall, this place is a great restaurant to dine in and have a hearty meal. I'll be back if I'm around the area again.

Came by for breakfast again... 7x now since they opened. Ordered AARON'S BURRITO, Jumbo flour tortilla stuffed with two eggs, three veggies of your choice and two meats. Served with one lunch side. Burrito was really big and surprisingly not as dry as most burritos can be depending on how you cook it. It was very tasty. I'd order it again. As well as, Harvest Omelet. Everything was freshly made. Waitress came by multiple times to check on us and refill our drinks.

Harvest Omelette

When you are looking for a great Texas breakfast or lunch, this is the place. I've been here twice and gotten the Harvest Omelette each time - hold the tomatoes and slap down some jalapeños. The omelettes have been impressive- both in quantity and quality. The sides are also delicious. The service is good and the coffee is hot! And you can take your picture on a throne in the corner. Don't ask me why it's there - but sometimes you just have to taken advantage of life's unexpected opportunities.

Service was very slow from the start. When I arrived, there was a customer ahead of me waiting to order takeout. From his expression, he was waiting for a while. After several minutes, a waitress finally came to the front to take his order and sit me. Initially, she wanted to sit me at a small table closest to the front. Due to the cold, windy morning, I requested to be seated elsewhere. I was okay being seated at the far corner. It took sometime to get my coffee. That allowed me to leisurely browse the menu. Because coffee was bolder than what other restaurants serve, it had more flavor. There were grinds on the bottom of the cup. As expected, I did not get a refill until my food was served. I ended up ordering a classic waffle. In the past, an order of a waffle would be served with butter and syrup. This waffle was served only with syrup. I did not expect maple syrup, but the concoction had an unappealing sticky look. The waffle itself was light, fluffy and very fulfilling. Being served with two eggs and sausage patties was too much food. Unlike their pancake combos, there was no option to get only one egg and patty.

I can't believe this hidden gem was right around the corner! The service was exceptional, the pumpkin caramel and butter pecan lattes were amazing (thank you, Kaitlin), the food was amazing, and the prices were very reasonable. I ordered the Western omelet with grits - some of the best grits I've ever eaten, which is saying a lot for a Southern girl. My husband had the Wagon Wheel and there are no words to describe how good that cinnamon roll was. We will definitely be back!

The cinnamon French toast is EXCELLENT ! Great texture, perfectly adorned with powdered sugar and fruit. It's served with 2 eggs, meat, and a side. This cafe is a gem !

Stopped in for breakfast around 9:30 am on a weekday. Wasn't very crowded and the service was much better than what I've read in other reviews. Very prompt and attentive. I had the basic scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast breakfast. The quality of the food was good and the quantity was what I expected. Price for the meal, coffee and tip was $20, which I guess is normal these days. I'll be back.

Omelette, crispy hashbrowns & your choice of side!

We went on a Saturday morning about 11:30 and they were fairly busy I guess maybe early lunch. But Empty Tables everywhere and our service took forever. It's more of a friendly, chatty place. All young servers that are college kids and family, and that's okay cuz now we know. But being really hungry and going in and watching people pass you and stand around and chat was a little Annoying our first visit. It is however, good food, good family and a nice place.

Parking is free and spaces are abundant in both the hotel's lot and the nearby parking garage. The lobby and lounge areas are clean and inviting, decorated in soothing earth tones with modern furnishings. There is also a massive ballroom, ideal for weddings or business functions (I'm unsure of the exact capacity though). Full disclosure - I have NOT stayed in any of their rooms. I have only come here to attend special events. Therefore, I can only speak about those experiences which include the food, drinks and the serving crew. The food they provide is tasty although not particularly fancy or gourmet. It's about what you'd expect from a casual 3.5 star restaurant. The servers are good about keeping the containers topped up so everything is fresh and hot. They also waste no time clearing away empty/dirty dishes. I had to purchase my own drinks from the small hotel bar since alcohol was not included in the banquets I attended. While the selection is limited at least some basics are available. Of course nothing is cheap! If you aren't attending a catered event here, there are far better options to get food and drinks by venturing out to one of the nearby restaurants. Several are even within walking distance.

It is HUGE - definitely the largest splash pad I've seen in terms of sheer size. It is designed so that the water spouts at the top of the splash pad form a small river that flows down to the lower area, where there are more spouts, plus rocks to climb on and grassy (turf) hills to roll down. My kids like bringing small toys and racing them down the river. The real star here is the shaded observation area for the mamas, though. There is no other park that treats us so well, providing expansive shade tents all the way around the park. There are picnic tables, but for the most part it's BYOC (bring your own chair) - or blanket - and set up shop on the turf, under the shade, in an elevated spot so you can keep an eye on the littles playing below. The bathrooms are new and usually pretty clean, although sometimes they do still smell like a porta potty. The splash pad hours are kind of a bummer, with the water not turning on until 10am. In the peak heat of the summer, we would be there waiting right at 10, but by 12:30 or so the water already felt like bath water - not refreshing and honestly kind of gross. I wish it opened at 8am so we could enjoy it for longer. Now that summer is over, the splash pad is only open on the weekends. They have a super helpful and very clear calendar which posts the hours here: https://www.highlandvillage.org/calendar.aspx?CID=31&showPastEvents=false There is a traditional playground directly adjacent to the splash pad, but it's unremarkable - certainly nothing you'd drive out of your way for. The rest of the park is BEAUTIFUL and well landscaped. I'm not sure what they use that massive pavilion for, but honestly I think it makes a case for a good wedding venue! If you're looking for a splash pad to add to your summer rotation, put this one on the list.

This sprawling estate is able to accommodate lots of guests (vehicles included) for all different types of functions. Everything about the property is ostentatiously southern, which might seem kitschy to non Texans, but for locals it just feels comfortable and familiar. Since I was there for a banquet, the first thing I have to talk about is the food. It seemed only appropriate that barbecue was on the menu with things like brisket, smoked sausage and baked beans, all served buffet style. While it was respectable enough, the quality was closer to Dickey's or Spring Creek than more authentic Texas barbecue. I thought the bread pudding they had for dessert was a good choice since I don't see that very often, plus it was very tasty. This place also has several built in bars because at social events people need their adult libations! There were only a handful of options available, but frozen margaritas was one of them, so that totally made up for the small selection. In addition to special events and private parties they also host market days open to the public. For that they have local vendors selling their goods along with other family friendly activities, such as pony rides, a petting zoo and rodeo. I met with David in July 2024, and even though my wedding wasn't until April 2026, he made himself incredibly available throughout that entire time. Whether it was meeting in person, texting, or chatting over the phone, David was always there to answer the many questions that arose during our extensive wedding planning. He was so easy to work with, exceptionally thorough with information, and even provided great suggestions along the way. Additionally, Irene's Bakery--the bakery the venue partners with--was fantastic! The cake was delicious and delivered right on time. We also worked with DJ Ivan, who did an amazing job! He executed our timeline perfectly and played exactly the songs I had requested. On the day of the wedding, our reception went incredibly smoothly. The room was set up exactly according to the floor plan we had discussed. There was plenty of staff on hand, ensuring that both the head table and every guest table were well taken care of. Everyone was attentive and brought a wonderful, positive energy to the evening. As both the bride and the planner of my own wedding, I intentionally tried to keep things relatively simple--and even so, everything turned out absolutely beautifully. I didn't have to stress or worry about a single thing on our big day. I highly recommend Royal Affairs Ballroom for a wedding or any other milestone event. I wish I had taken a picture of the Dr. Pepper bottles on the bar. Still makes me smile when I think about it. Our last wedding was on December 14, 2024. I was nervous about this time frame due to private parties and other weddings. With this date, and other special events happening at Royal Affairs, I was concerned with setup time as I, mother of the bride, was the setup team. David worked with the schedule of other parties, as well as our availability, and made it possible for us to setup before the wedding rehearsal. We got the much-needed rehearsal, and my daughter got a first look at the decorated venue. She was very VERY happy. The day of the event, everything was perfect when we walked in. We were able to get into the Ballroom early for dressing, pictures, etc. Timing was never an issue as, we spoke with David beforehand and he made everything come together for us. We chose the vendor package, which included the in-house photographer, and DJ among other things. While the convenience was appealing, several issues occurred throughout the day. To start, our centerpieces only covered 8 of the 10 tables. This may have been an oversight on my part, so I'm not placing blame on the venue for that. The ceremony itself was beautiful, but there was an issue with the music for my entrance. I chose the same song for both my bridesmaids and myself because there was a specific part of the song I wanted to walk down the aisle to. I had previously asked the wedding planner if the music could be looped if timing ran long, and she assured me it could. However, while waiting in the bridal suite with my dad, I heard the part of the song I was supposed to walk into come and go. I was later told that my niece and nephews took longer walking down the aisle. I completely understand that kids will be kids, but this was something we had discussed beforehand to prevent exactly this situation. Our photographer did a good job overall, though we are still waiting on the final photos. However, he forgot about the "first touch" moment I had planned with my husband until one of my bridesmaids reminded him. At the reception, there were multiple issues with the DJ. He switched the entrance songs for my husband, myself, and the bridal party. We used the provided app to carefully create our playlist, but it seemed like it was not followed closely. He also did not fade out the songs for our first dance or for my father-daughter dance as requested. Once open dancing started, he began playing songs that were not on our playlist and that many of our guests did not recognize. Overall, he seemed unprepared. As for the wedding planner, she was helpful during the planning process but did not seem organized on the actual wedding day. We had arranged for a coffee cart during cocktail hour. When the barista finished for the evening, he prepared a bag with coffee items for my husband and me for the next day and said he would give it to the wedding planner. However, the wedding planner left once dancing began. When we were leaving, we remembered the coffee and asked my mom to retrieve it, but she couldn't find the coordinator to ask about it. If one or two small things had gone wrong, it would have been easier to overlook. But the number of mistakes throughout the day left a very disappointing impression for both my husband and me. If you are looking strictly for a beautiful venue, Aristide is stunning. However, based on our experience, I would not recommend purchasing the vendor package, as we did not feel that our plans were executed with the attention to detail we expected.
