Texas Star Cafe - Wise pancake and hashed browns - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Flower Mound, Texas

Terrible! Orders a skillet with no onion or peppers, came out with both! Sent it back, returned with a pile of mush; looks like hash browns are actually mash potatoes, very little gravy and COLD. Also ordered avocado toast on sour dough, came out cold with barely toasted wheat bread; they argued that it was sour dough! Avoid like the plague!!! Won't allow zero stars so they had to get one.... read more

I love the Texas decor. They have a spacious dining area. Parking was also very easy since it's in a private lot shared with other businesses. The kiddos had a great time running around Jungle Castle next door, and then eating brunch right after. They had enough high chairs to accommodate our three toddlers. We came in around 11am; and were provided both a breakfast and lunch menu. The portions were generous and price was affordable. I enjoyed my classic benedict. My son enjoyed the fries that were super crunchy. The side of fruits could use a little more strawberries. Everyone was chowing down without any issues. We appreciate that they were able to split the group bill readily. I'll drop a few suggested improvements. I called around 7:30am to make a reservation for a party of 8. When we arrived at the reserved time, they seemed surprise to see us and had to quickly assemble the tables/chairs together - luckily there were plenty of room to make a quick last minute arrangement. My friend and I also ordered a side of fries, but instead received double fruits as our sides. Overall, this place is a great restaurant to dine in and have a hearty meal. I'll be back if I'm around the area again. read more

Came by for breakfast again... 7x now since they opened. Ordered AARON'S BURRITO, Jumbo flour tortilla stuffed with two eggs, three veggies of your choice and two meats. Served with one lunch side. Burrito was really big and surprisingly not as dry as most burritos can be depending on how you cook it. It was very tasty. I'd order it again. As well as, Harvest Omelet. Everything was freshly made. Waitress came by multiple times to check on us and refill our drinks. read more

When you are looking for a great Texas breakfast or lunch, this is the place. I've been here twice and gotten the Harvest Omelette each time - hold the tomatoes and slap down some jalapeños. The omelettes have been impressive- both in quantity and quality. The sides are also delicious. The service is good and the coffee is hot! And you can take your picture on a throne in the corner. Don't ask me why it's there - but sometimes you just have to taken advantage of life's unexpected opportunities. read more

The food is ok-typical café food. The service is very slow and quite honestly frustrating. Tried it twice to give it another chance and was disappointed both times. read more

Great breakfast. Sons have had French toast and chicken and waffles. Don't sleep on the Mexican dishes. Ask for the house salsa. Great service. Outstanding coffee. Iced vanilla. Great service. read more

The food is soooo good and homemade! I love the Texas ambiance and the mom and pop vibe it gives!

Service was very slow from the start. When I arrived, there was a customer ahead of me waiting to order takeout. From his expression, he was waiting for a while. After several minutes, a waitress finally came to the front to take his order and sit me. Initially, she wanted to sit me at a small table closest to the front. Due to the cold, windy morning, I requested to be seated elsewhere. I was okay being seated at the far corner. It took sometime to get my coffee. That allowed me to leisurely browse the menu. Because coffee was bolder than what other restaurants serve, it had more flavor. There were grinds on the bottom of the cup. As expected, I did not get a refill until my food was served. I ended up ordering a classic waffle. In the past, an order of a waffle would be served with butter and syrup. This waffle was served only with syrup. I did not expect maple syrup, but the concoction had an unappealing sticky look. The waffle itself was light, fluffy and very fulfilling. Being served with two eggs and sausage patties was too much food. Unlike their pancake combos, there was no option to get only one egg and patty. read more

I can't believe this hidden gem was right around the corner! The service was exceptional, the pumpkin caramel and butter pecan lattes were amazing (thank you, Kaitlin), the food was amazing, and the prices were very reasonable. I ordered the Western omelet with grits - some of the best grits I've ever eaten, which is saying a lot for a Southern girl. My husband had the Wagon Wheel and there are no words to describe how good that cinnamon roll was. We will definitely be back! read more

Unbelievable bad everything. I had made a reservation for 12 people, and the only good news I can share is that they did have a table set up for us. Then everything went downhill. The waitress was trying so hard but frankly she should be waiting on a table of one - that was her limit on remembering things. She would take an order for a glass of water, leave, return with the water - and now repeat this 12 times. She would even offer a curt "I'll get to you later" if someone attempted to interrupt her with a request that bothered her. We sat, and sat, and sat. She had disappeared. I finally located a manager and asked her to please find our waitress. The waitress finally reappeared and 15 minutes later she had 12 food orders entered into her order pad. OMG. Then 30 minutes go by before the first dish arrives, followed by 11 more straggling one at a time. One order was missing. The waitress seemed flummoxed. Back to the kitchen and 10 minutes later the last plate comes out. When the last plate did arrive our waitress simply disappeared. Getting our bills was painful. We all sat there another 15 minutes before our waitress appeared and handing out the bills. Then two at a time she would leave and ring them up - now repeat this 6 more times. So far bad everything (sorry, no matter how good the food was, it was offset by the bad service and attitude of the waitress. What realllllllllllllllllllllllly irked us was that when a manager was informed of how bad this was, our message was met with a shrug of the shoulders - no apology. "It happens" was the reply. And to rub salt into the wound they had the audacity to tack on 20% gratuity. If you have a choice of breakfast places, run far, far away from this place. They used to be so good, and are now at the bottom of the well. read more

Stopped in for breakfast around 9:30 am on a weekday. Wasn't very crowded and the service was much better than what I've read in other reviews. Very prompt and attentive. I had the basic scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast breakfast. The quality of the food was good and the quantity was what I expected. Price for the meal, coffee and tip was $20, which I guess is normal these days. I'll be back. read more

Try the pumpkin pancakes before they stop making them! The best I have ever had! Delicious & big!

It was fantastic from the greeting, the service and the food. Especially, the salsa. We brought containers of it home...‼

We ordered the fish and chips for lunch. The fish was burnt to a crisp. When the waitress picked up the order she should have seen that it was overcooked. This is the first time that I have had a bad entree at this restaurant. And yes we returned it and yes we were comped for it and the waitress asked if wanted anything else from the menu but we were turned off so we didn't order anything else. I hope that the cook was aware of this and it doesn't happen again. This is how you lose customers. read more

We went on a Saturday morning about 11:30 and they were fairly busy I guess maybe early lunch. But Empty Tables everywhere and our service took forever. It's more of a friendly, chatty place. All young servers that are college kids and family, and that's okay cuz now we know. But being really hungry and going in and watching people pass you and stand around and chat was a little Annoying our first visit. It is however, good food, good family and a nice place. read more

IF YOU LIVE IN FLOWER MOUND, YOU MUST COME HERE AT LEAST ONCE IN YOUR LIFETIME. Y'all. The food was absolutely smashing. The portions were WAY more than we were expecting. The scramble bowl can easily feed two people. I got the breaded chicken with a side, and it was so good. Service was fast and efficient, and the server was very nice, and helped us make a choice. The ambiance was good: plenty of decorations, a coffee bar, and good temperature. WILL BE BACK!!! read more

Whenever I see eggs Benedict on a menu I'm nervous. But when the waitress asked how I like my poached eggs, I was impressed. I ordered the regular eggs Benedict and it was good. Eggs poached well, good hollandaise sauce, big slice of juicy ham and... cheese? Cheese isn't usually on a Benedict but I've never been one to complain about cheese so I won't. I went at 9 am on a Tuesday so it was empty and service was great. read more

We went in for brunch and ordered coffees, and some breakfast. Nothing fancy or complicated. We waited over 45min and our food still hadn't come out. And our server never came to refill our coffee or waters. We put a few bucks for the coffee on the table and left. It was slightly busy...but no one was scrambling around and there were plenty of open tables. Very disappointed. read more

We had a mediocre experience. TSC recently opened so we decided to try them out. What we liked: (1) Nearby location. A lot of parking. (2) pancakes were huge! Couldn't finish our blueberry pancake. We liked their crispy potato wedges. (3) Price is reasonable and comparable to other cafes. What we didn't like: (1) Hot in restaurant. Started to lightly sweat while eating and sitting. (2) Waitress wasn't available when we needed our final bill. I had to stand for them to make eye contact with me. (3) Booth wasn't comfortable. Seats were too low or the table was too high. (4) Turkey bacon is not the same as pork bacon. Would I try them again? Yes, but in a few months while they work out their operations. 3 stars because I prefer an eating establishment instead of a gas station or nail salon. read more

Not good. Would not recommend. Service: Slow to seat. Slow Service. Order was incorrect. The place was less than half full on Labor Day morning. Food: Eggs were rubbery. Biscuits from a can. Pre-shredded bagged cheese. Pre-cooked frozen chicken. Overpriced. The atmosphere is good. Someone clearly put some money into this place. It's a shame. I don't see this place making it. You have to have good food and service to survive given the competition. There are so many other, better places to go nearby. Or just cook at home. read more

Was very surprised. Please do not believe everything that read about a restaurant in social media. It is very hard to open a restaurant and maybe even more so in Flower Mound. This restaurant is doing well with challenges that are currently facing the hospitality industry. The food and service was great. Takes a bit of time to get things working and it looks like they are doing well. We had Alec and he was great. Made us feel very welcome. He did great. Are food was good. It was seasoned, served hot on a warm plate. Things that are simple, but important. We will come back and try a couple other items. I was excited to try out some good breakfast place. I'm a sucker for a good eggs Benedict and hollandaise sauce. But this time I craved biscuits and pancakes. I visited here with my brother and niece and nephew. So four of us got seated in a few minutes. So that's good, the good part kind of ends there. Waiter gives us menus and asks for drinks order and is gone for the next 12-15 minutes. For just coffee and water, you kind of expect this to be quick. We ordered 4 different menu items, it took them a good 20 minutes to get us the food. Again breakfast places are way faster, especially considering we were there around 9:30 and the breakfast crowd was dwindling down. The food was mediocre. We had to ask for a refill of creamer, our waitress disappeared with the bowl and never got back, had to flag another waitress down to get it. Ambiance is alright for a breakfast place. Pretty bright and lit up! When the bill came we were surprised with a service charge for a table of 4 (of which 2 were kids). read more

Ok, first the biscuits are great, the sausage gravy is great, the veggie omelette is great BUT, the price has gotten out of control, way too expensive for what you get. I'm sorry but I will not return as long as the way-over-priced food is offered. The service is ok but Chick-fil-A next door is a much better deal and the coffee for seniors is free.
