My kids identify this as one of the best splash pads in the area, second only to Oak Hills Park in Carrollton (which they love because of the slides). It is HUGE - definitely the largest splash pad I've seen in terms of sheer size. It is designed so that the water spouts at the top of the splash pad form a small river that flows down to the lower area, where there are more spouts, plus rocks to climb on and grassy (turf) hills to roll down. My kids like bringing small toys and racing them down the river. The real star here is the shaded observation area for the mamas, though. There is no other park that treats us so well, providing expansive shade tents all the way around the park. There are picnic tables, but for the most part it's BYOC (bring your own chair) - or blanket - and set up shop on the turf, under the shade, in an elevated spot so you can keep an eye on the littles playing below. The bathrooms are new and usually pretty clean, although sometimes they do still smell like a porta potty. The splash pad hours are kind of a bummer, with the water not turning on until 10am. In the peak heat of the summer, we would be there waiting right at 10, but by 12:30 or so the water already felt like bath water - not refreshing and honestly kind of gross. I wish it opened at 8am so we could enjoy it for longer. Now that summer is over, the splash pad is only open on the weekends. They have a super helpful and very clear calendar which posts the hours here: https://www.highlandvillage.org/calendar.aspx?CID=31&showPastEvents=false There is a traditional playground directly adjacent to the splash pad, but it's unremarkable - certainly nothing you'd drive out of your way for. The rest of the park is BEAUTIFUL and well landscaped. I'm not sure what they use that massive pavilion for, but honestly I think it makes a case for a good wedding venue! If you're looking for a splash pad to add to your summer rotation, put this one on the list. read more

Wonderful park with walking trails, a lovely little playground and covered areas for picnics! The kids and their cousins had a wonderful time. Something to keep in mind if you play soccer - the soccer fields have signs posted prominently that no unauthorized practice or games are permitted. read more

Very nice park area and green space. Props to Highland Village for making this what it is instead of developing it. I stopped by this place first to scope it as an event venue. It was such a beautiful day and I only got a glimpse of the whole place, so I came back with the kids later. First impressions: - It's nestled right into suburbia. - The parking lot is HUGE. I'd love to know its capacity. Much larger than expected. - It's brand new. They're still working on it, although the main paved path is complete. - Lot of green space. Some of this may contain other stuff later, but there's a lot of open grass for now. The first things you really see are a farmhouse-style building and a large pavilion. I believe both are available to rent for activities. While the pavilion looks huge, it actually doesn't have that many tables under it. You'd have to rent more tables and chairs to seat a large group under it. Next there are multiple paths leading away from the building and pavilion. A large pond with a large fountain serve as the centerpiece of the park. Behind the building is a splash pad, so that'll be super fun in the warmer months. Metal picnic tables are around the building (covered with overhead fans) and the splash pad (not covered). I mapped the paved loop around the pond and it's close to 0.4 miles (0.37-ish). More picnic tables are here and there, and they're clearly still installing stuff. There are lights around much of the path but not all yet. There's also a stash of youth soccer goals behind the pond, so I assume some small soccer fields will take up some of the green space. But who knows - maybe they're destined for another location. From 3 to 4 pm on a Monday, this place was pretty dead. But it won't last. I'll bet it's betta local hotspot soon! Very nice. Only need, and it seems like an obvious one: a playground. My son was very disappointed about that shortcoming. So... 4.5 stars. It'll be interesting to see the finishing touches and final product in a few months. read more

Nice, clean, lots of space and a great walking trail! Dogs aren't allowed in the splash area but this place has lots of trees and nature abounds for your walks around a park! read more

Visited this park for the first time today - it is beautiful! Lots of large oak trees and pine trees, nicely landscaped with native flora, and a large pond with aerator... lots of good spots all along the bank to fish as well as a large pier (looks to be a rgood fish habitat). Lots of open areas for activities as well as fenced splash/fountain area and very large pavilion. Also nice hike/bike trails (leading to new footbridge going across the lake) - several picnic tables along the trail with grills. read more

We just moved into the neighborhood 1 1/2 years ago and we come all the time for bike rides, stroller walks, fishing, and of course the splash pad in the summer! Have 3 young kiddos so it's perfect for them. Very clean! Splash pad can get crowded on the weekends and mostly from 10-12. Says no running but kids always do and it's not slippery. Stays open til 8pm. The turf grass can get really hot! The concessions are hardly ever open. They just added lots of shaded areas for the splash pad which made a HUGE difference! The playground is almost done so now we have everything here! read more
