Loco Moco
Ray M.

A friend recommended Rise Cafe so we came this morning for breakfast. Staff was very nice and asked if it was our 1st time there and explained how to order. We ate upstairs and dogs are allowed which is a big plus for us. We had the loco moco, kamalu bowl, roasted macnut late, & raspberry matcha. Food was very good and filling. Loco moco gravy is top notch, hamburger was good and the egg was sunny side up on cauliflower rice. Kamalu bowl is tasty with the different textures. Thick bacon, not too salty, had boiled egg with everything bagel seasoning, creamy avocado, and salsa.

This morning was the first weekend breakfast out in quite awhile. As we Yelped, we decided to take a healthy route to breakfast and chose to take a drive to Kaimuki and give Rise Cafe a try. There was lots of paid parking available. So important to us because fighting for parking can put a big damper on the experience. The ambience of the cafe made me smile as I felt relaxed and welcomed. It was our first time here and the young lady at the register had a beautiful smile and patiently waited for us to make our menu selections while answering our questions. Seating seemed limited until she shared that there is additional seating upstairs and someone would bring our order to us. Nice! We went upstairs and were able to quickly find a table for two. The wait for our order was reasonable and allowed hubby and me to catch up on our schedules for the upcoming week. Our meals were served with a smile. My better half ordered the Brisket Fried Rice and Drip Coffee. I had the Kamala Bowl and Toasty Matcha. We both enjoyed our meals very much. Personally, I love the fact the it filled me without the typical greasy feel and sluggishness that I normally feel after consuming a savory breakfast. This was great healthy food. If you're looking local kanak-attack portions, you will be disappointed. For me, this was perfect "Hachi-Harabu" servings. Filling without over-eating. I actually feel energized instead of sleepy after a weekend breakfast. Will definitely be back with my girlfriends. I'm glad we decided to give Rise Cafe a try.

I'm not Keto but I've been meaning to try this keto cafe for a while. I had a dentist appointment which is in the area so I decided to go to Rise Cafe after. The cafe is small and is located across Daily Whisk Matcha. You can just park in the lot but I had found street parking that day. I was surprised to see the owner, Dr. Jodi, at the front taking orders. She was friendly and personable. I like following her page for keto meal ideas even though I'm not keto, I like to incorporate lower carb meals. I decided to do a to-go order of the Coconut Wireless espresso drink and the breakfast waffle sandwich. I was worried that I wouldn't like the drink because I am iffy about coconut milk but it was actually really good. I got it sweetened with a little honey and it was delicious. The breakfast waffle sandwich was a generous portion of eggs, bacon, cheese between 2 keto waffles. Basically like a keto version of a McGriddle. The waffles didn't taste keto and tasted like regular waffles. Honestly, so good! I could get used to eating like this lol. I'm looking forward to trying her other items on the menu!

Located in Kaimuki, Rise Cafe is a small-ish cafe with two stories of seating. The bottom floor has the kitchen and counter where we ordered. There are also tables and chairs to sit downstairs. After looking at the menu, we decided to get the chicken and chaffles and kamalu bowl. Everything seemed healthy with limits on the carbs and a lack of sugar. We made our order and sat upstairs, which had a couple seating options. The spaces upstairs and downstairs felt clean and simple. There were some decorations but not an overwhelming amount. All of the food we ordered felt filling. The bowls included a variety of foods such as avocados, eggs, and more. The chicken and chaffles were good! The chicken was not oily and did not taste super fried. The chaffles had more of a grainy texture than usual waffles but were still tasty. The chicken and chaffles were about $18, which we felt was a bit pricey. However, we were full by the end of lunch. We are looking forward to going back and trying some new items, such as the loco moco.

Got a high blood sugar? Eat at Rise Cafe! On a low-carb diet? Eat at Rise Cafe! Just want to eat healthier? Eat at Rise Cafe! Rise Cafe located in the Kaimukī, along 11th Ave., right next to Carte Blanche and Subway. There's a couple of dedicated parking spots out front, or in the paid parking lot. This place serves up breakfast items and coffee/tea drinks and follows a Ketogenic diet with its ingredients. Inside is small and cozy with two levels of sitting areas. You just order at the front and they'll bring everything to your table. The Bulletproof Coffee was okay. I would have preferred the butter to be blended in with the coffee and cream instead of on the top. The Americano was good. Solid flavor. Steak and Eggs. Simple. The chimichurri sauce was delicious! Tasty and bright. The steak was a bit overcooked to my medium requested with about half tender, half toothsome. The steak might've sat under cool air because it was not warm when it arrived, and the pieces were mostly room temperature with some chilled cold. Not sure if that is the intention. The eggs, also requested medium, were over easy. The Chicken and Chaffles were very good, especially the chicken! Give me a basket of that! The chicken was so moist, juicy, tender, and flavorful. Nicely battered and fried. The chaffles were more like regular (healthy) waffles than cheesy or eggy. Overall, an all right experience. Enjoyed the atmosphere of this place. Comfortable and cozy. Food and drinks were fine. Maybe some adjustments for my preference. Chicken was amazing though! Service was okay. Can't say it was the most friendly or upbeat. Some coffee spillage on floor and table when arrived, but only wiped the floor.. Not a big deal since we have napkins. Maybe I'll come back to try other things. Rise Cafe is truly a health conscious place with better attention to details that's not just fruits and vegetables.

Kamalu Bowl x Iced Mac Nut Latte
Tyler I.

I initially found out about Rise Cafe from their episode on KHON2 x Living 808. I always appreciate restaurants and establishments that focus on clean eating, especially for me, that hates feeling "sluggish" after eating foods that are made up of a lot of seed oils. Today (July 31, 2026) was my first time ordering food and drinks from here, but for first impressions, 10/10. I ordered a Kamalu Bowl ($16) and a 12 oz. iced roasted mac nut latte ($6.75) For parking, there are a few stalls in front (but are limited) or there is a parking lot behind with fairly low rates. I will be a returning customer as I am a student at UH Manoa, which is not even that far from here :)

Love this place! Just popped in and had the breakfast sandwich and matcha latte. Wow the sandwich exceeded my expectations! Full of flavor and filled me up! Delicious! I try to get a different drink each time I come and it's always so good. I also love looking at the sugar display that shows how much sugar is in the common foods that we tend to eat. Super informative And there's WiFi if you need it. Highly recommend!

Came after early hot yoga and loved the calm vibe, pretty plants, amazing wi-fi speed, good coffee, tasty latte, and satisfying keto breakfast. There are a lot of options right in the area but definitely check this place out. Food is pretty reasonably priced and I like that they are taking a keto route as I try to avoid gluten most days.

The experience was lovely. It's a super cute cafe. The ladies running it were very nice. The food quality was very high. Bacon and egg croffle was tasty. Tried the Mac nut latte, which was good. I prefer a little more espresso but I drank the whole latte. I was stuffed. Will go back again.

This is a hidden gem! We ordered the Chicken and Chaffles, Pistachio Latte, and Coconut Latte. Everything was delicious. The service was super friendly and fast. The food here is all very healthy and light. It's a great way to start the day.

I was excited to see a new cafe open up in the neighborhood. It looks very appealing from the outside and seeing the phrase, "food = medicine" in the front window made me even more curious. I was thinking just how good healthy, nutritious food could be. Well, it was excellent! I started off with a hot mocha, which had a light, sweet flavor with a hint of mocha; very nice. It was not as sweet and syrupy as other cafes. Then I had the loco moco, good choice. The wagyu patty was very tasty topped off with an egg and keto gravy. All blended together nicely and very flavorful. Unlike most times I have a loco moco, this one leaves you feeling good and not stuffed. Seeing the healthy make up of this loco moco, I was extremely surprised and happy with how good it was! My son had the chicken and chaffles, which I had to try after tasting my loco moco. It was also very good and something I would have the next time. Overall, a superb breakfast and lunch spot that I would highly recommend. The service was great, the atmosphere very nice and comfortable. Best tasting "medicine" I've ever had!

It was the first time for me at this little quaint Cafe. It was very busy at the time and it was a Saturday. We ordered two plates mine was the brisket with fried rice and hers was the Kamalu Bowl. We had the order to go. When we got to the destination and opened up both plates mine didn't look too appetizing but hers did. After gobbling up my food I sort of enjoyed it but I definitely had better brisket. But to my surprise hers tasted really good especially the cauliflower risotto! I definitely order that next time. I'm not too much of a health food fanatic but I'll eat anything. One thing I notice is the service in this place was excellent the servers were very attentive and always asked if I needed help. The lady at the counter was more than willing to make me understand what's in the plates I love that kind of service. If you're looking for a great place to hang out especially in the morning this is the place to come they serve all kinds of drinks yogurt drinks and different coffees. Sorry I didn't take the time to take a picture of all those menus because it was busy. I know this a lot of college age customers enjoying the time at this Cafe. Even some that are on my age which is great to see.

Kamalu bowl

Work lunch Wednesday was ordered from Rise Cafe. I got the kamalu bowl which was interesting. The cauliflower rice had great flavor and I surprised myself by eating it all. The pickled onions brightened up the dish. My least favorite was the bacon because it wasn't crunchy and tough to chew. Give me a vegetarian option and I'd gladly order it. We didn't have to park but there is the kanji municipal lot on the backside that accepts credit cards. There is also metered stalls along waialae ave. The shop is small but I guess there are stairs to an upstairs with more seating but we didn't go up there. Interior is cute and comfy.

Do you have vegan options?

Hello Mei-Li. Vegan options are limited here, but we can do avocado toast (toasted with EVOO not butter) and our yogurt parfait. Thank you so much for inquiring.

We have 4 golden retrievers ourselves and LOVE dogs! Our recommendation when you come to Rise is to “read the room.” If the other guests dining inside seem dog friendly then by all means, Yes. If someone is giving you those unhappy, disgusted looks,…

Are the waffles gluten-free at rise Café?

Yes they are. We use a small amount of almond flour, but no wheat flour or wheat products. If you are severely gluten intolerant, please be sure to let our staff know so that extra precautions can be taken. Mahalo!

Is this a good place to study?

Hi, Joshua, yes it is! Upstairs is much quieter and we have extremely fast WiFi. People have tested it!

I ordered Dorie Greenspan's Chocolate Cake with ice cream. The sauce contained alcohol, so I asked for it on the side, which they were happy to do. I ended up enjoying the chocolate cake with the ice cream, and it was really good. My husband ordered the Rocky Road, which I know is a popular dessert there, but we both thought it was just okay. The restaurant itself is really cute and had a great atmosphere. It was pretty busy when we went, which definitely gave it a lively feel. Overall, I'm glad I got to try Fête, but based on the pastas and desserts I've had elsewhere, it wasn't a personal favorite. The chocolate cake was definitely the standout for me!

It's the table and space is very spacious that you don't have be afraid of been squished with other people. Besides that, they have a pretty good selection too! Price is reasonable with the portion of the food is serve. Miso Butter Fish 5/5: I will never be tried of eating & ordering the miso butter fish. It's definitely one of the best butter fish in a non-Japanese restaurant. It's buttery, with the perfect level of the miso flavor that's not salty or blend/no miso flavor. The fish it's cooked into perfection that's not overcooked. Although it's pricery compare to other dishes, but it's worth it; especially the butter fish is a pretty big size that comes w/ salad and rice. Grilled Garlic Chicken 4.5/5: The garlic chicken is not the same as a regular garlic chicken that you get from a barbecue restaurant; it doesn't have that barbecue sauce flavor. However, it's still taste pretty good. The garlic flavor is there, but not so strong that over power the taste of the chicken. More importantly, chicken is not overcooked as some restaurants can overcook the chicken. However, it comes w/ gravy on top of the chicken. If you eat it w/ the gravy, you probably will it be able to taste the garlic. Mac Nut Waffard 4.5/5 This is not the regular waffles. This "waffard" it's the Mac nut waffle that comes with their iconic custard, fruits and whipped cream. The waffle is super soft & fluffy with a crispy outside edges. Also, the waffle is not mushy, rather, it has a slightly mochi/chewy texture. The waffle is also not over sweet that actually can be pair with their famous custard fillings. Pancakes 5/5 I normally not a pancake person because I am afraid that it can be over sweet or very bland that has no taste but a flour flavor. But I fall in love with the pancake at first try because it's soooo fluffy and soft! More importantly, it's not sweet that actually can be paired with syrup and butter. However, it's also not bland that can be just eaten by itself without syrup or butter. Hands down on it! Plus, the size of the pancake is actually pretty big.
