The hostess at the front needs to be friendly and helpful. God Forbid you ask either one to do anything for you. Our server was an absolute doll, but the lunches came out sooooo slow and we were the FIRST table in there. Smoked Fish dip app was really good, but I found it odd that they just put a pile of unseasoned chopped tomatoes there and not a pico do gallo. It came with tortilla chips and was good, but the unseasoned diced tomatoes were crying for help. I would also think for $27 for seafood Mac n Cheese they could give several shrimp. I think there were 5 in the whole dish and the rest was tiny Bay Scallops. 10 shrimp for a dish like this should be status quo! Overall a cheap dish to prepare, but SUPER overpriced. The zucchini served as a side were over cooked and over salted. Nothing is more disgusting that limp zucchini. The burger with seafood stuffing was really good, but the side of black beans and yellow rice had more raves than the burger. So good job on the sides. Again to summarize... SERVICE = 5 stars. Kitchen speed = 2.8 Hostess = 1 Please train your hostesses to smile! I saw people walk in and were told to see the hostess to be seated, but she was no where to be found so they left. I had the seafood Mac n cheese and fish tacos for lunch. I feel the scallops in the Mac n cheese needed to be cooked a little longer. To me the Mac n cheese dish needed to be seasoned. I was not impressed. The fish tacos were good but there was so much juice from the salsa that it made the shell soggy. The fries needed to be cooked a little longer. I feel the kitchen was rushed but it was around 1 and only about half of the tables were occupied. Our server was great. I expected the decor to be like the ocean themed since it is the Riptide. We have been on vacation for a week and this was hands-down the worst meal we have ordered. First, you can't substitute sides (not even an option for an up-charge). You pay a fortune for a handful of crab legs and must take the fries and slaw that come with it. The fries and hush puppies were completely soggy as they were on the tray with the crab legs. We visited Riptides for the first time on our last trip to Ormond Beach but I doubt it will be our last. We were looking for a place with fresh seafood and Riptides delivered. There were so many options on the menu including all you can eat crab. Our table order different dishes including shrimp, crab, lobster and the seafood mac and cheese. All the food was delicious, hot and incredibly fresh. We also ordered mixed drinks and beers that we enjoyed while listening to the live music outside on the large patio. Worst service I've ever gotten, I don't typically ask for a manager unless the service was excellent or garbage. And this time is was garbage. We came as a party of ten, so we didn't expect anything super quick, we just wanted good food and to enjoy each others company. Our food came out so sporadically, that half our party didn't even have their meals or appetizers before to go boxes were brought. That's right. The server checked on us so few times he didn't realize half of us had no food, half of us had the wrong food, none of us had drinks (so we would have to go to the bar to order drinks). It was truly unbelievable. I asked to speak with the manager after our checks and boxes were brought. 4 people still haven't gotten any food. Appetizers I ordered twice (because they were never brought the first time) were never brought. Finally our last 4 were brought their meals, only one was missing part of the seafood that comes with the combo. As the manager brings back checks with 10% off, they deliver the final bit of food (with the exception of the appetizer that never came). Needless to say, it's was 2.5 hours of pure surprise and not in the good way. They won't make it far under current management because the service on all ends was horrible. read more

Our appetizer was delicious so it hyped us up that the shrimp poboy and the seafood mac n cheese would be just as good. Unfortunately, the poboy was super salty and our pasta was cold and could've used some seasoning. Again, our appetizer was super flavorful and the sauce on the poboy was so good and it was close to closing time so we gave them the benefit of the doubt. The wait is long. Expect to wait. The place is busy, and there aren't enough staff to tend to the level of patronage they have. So expect to wait once inside as well. I don't want to talk poorly about the staff as I'm sure they are doing all they can given what's going on currently. Don't expect to come and pay a good low price and eat all you can eat crab legs. You're going to pay for it. $75 at the time we visited. Per person. So we opted for 1.5lb instead. The crab was pretty good. I wouldn't come back and pay $75 for all you could eat, but I might pay $27 for 1.5 lbs again. We also got raw oysters and they were good and fresh. Shrimp tacos were my absolute favorite thing we ate. Overall the experience was ok. We would probably not come back, but we aren't sorry we came. It's an experience. read more

Good luck finding a parking spot. The do have a concierge parking area that no one seems to know about in advance. Good luck figuring out how to get to the front to be seated. They have a few side doors you can easily find. Make your way to what will eventually be the front. Then enjoy waiting in the sun in a space for 4 people with parties of people waiting. We have been there a few times and really like this place. Parking is on the side by the beach or on the street. If that's full, next store has valet parking. They have 2 bars, outside patio seating and inside seating. The seafood has always been good. On weekend they have someone playing music. The service has always been great, very friendly people. This was their $35 dollar stuffed grouper, it was supposed to be stuffed with crab, scallops and shrimp......if you look closely, you will find 2 shrimp, when I picked it apart looking for the crab, shrimp, and scallops, and only found 2 shrimp, I called the waiter over and he showed me this flat piece of food that was identified as the stuffing it was I would easily say, a tablespoon of this bread stuffing, with liquified in a blender the seafood they claimed was in there!!!! Totally unacceptable and should be pulled from the menu!! I had the rum glazed tuna and I cannot say enough good things about it. I would love to have the recipe but I know I could never duplicate it!
