Second visit to the Rip Tide. I had a craving for scollops. My 1st choice was closed for renovations‍. This was near by. 1st visit was very good. Small quaint bar area. Everyone seems to know each other. Gets a little loud. Good TV views Small one room / unisex bathroom ‍. Food is good and $$. Drinks were a little weak today. One bartender handling it ALL. We were at a side table, bar was full. She came over. No napkins. Took our order. All came over. Asked if we were all set. She FORGOT to put my scollops in. WHAT???!! Only reason we ended up there . Our 2nd time here. They, hands down, have the best fish and chips, and also onion rings. I love onion rings and these hit every mark. The breading is very tasty and when you bite into the ring, the onion doesnt come out leaving you with just breading left. My husband got the fish and chips, I got rhe seafood platter. We shared the whole belly, shrinp and scallops. All cooked to perfection. Hardy servings-I took a whole piece of fish hime as leftovers. Service was fair. We sat and it took some timei to get menus and be acknowledged. It then took about 15 minutes to have our drinks served and order taken. Once in, it was a quick to recieve the food. There was one bartender who was in charge of the bar and the restaurant. She was quite busy, so you have to take that into consideration. The vibe is sport bar with a twist. It was welcoming. If I could give one word for this restaurant it would be LOUSY. The service was awful, the food was terrible and the cocktails were lousy too! First off, the kitchen didn't send the food out correctly in 2 out of 3 plates, so when that food came back out it was already cold. The Shrimp Mozambique was slimy/mushy and had a bad taste to it. I asked for rice instead of fries, but I was served fries... The Pork and Little Necks were awful. The pork was SO dry you could hardly bite into it and the little necks were chewy as heck! The Seafood Platter came out looking nice, but it wasn't very good! The clams and scallops were very wet and greasy, the fish was overcooked and it lacked flavor! As far as the cocktails go, the bartender evidently needed a lesson in pouring... Over the top on the booze, so strong they tasted awful! Yuck. Won't be back! read more

Went here on a recommendation, we liked it so much we returned the following week. The waitress we had both times was wonderful, the food was good, prepared the way I asked for, and cooked as ordered. The atmosphere here is relaxed, and they have music on the weekends. Started with wings. They were fresh and juicy with a nice spicy buffalo sauce. The fish and chips was a health portion. The fish was lightly battered and cooked just right. My friend had the Texas burger which looked good as well. The Cole slaw came in a covered portion control cup (Which I do not like) but it was tasty and advertised as in house made. I don't know what happened here? When they first opened their food was great! I went yesterday and it was just down right awful! The stuffed Quahog was ice cold and they served it to me that way with a square of butter on it that had not melted! Hello! The chowder was disgusting and that is putting it nicely! The fish was not fresh and should not have been served at all! What is wrong with people who open restaurants and expect to cut back and not serve quality food? I really wanted to like this place. The restaurant that was in this location before had been closed for several years. It had great Portuguese food a seedy dive bar called the Brisa do Mar. Locals referred to as "the breeze of the shit" due to its proximity to the sewage plant. My Family and I went when it first reopened as Riptide. They did an amazing job remodeling it but, the food and drinks were meh. I hadn't been back until last night. We gave it another go because my Dad had seen that they had a clam boil advertised. Three of is got the clam boil. The clams came out separately several minutes after the rest of the boil. When the clams got there they were undercooked, closed and falling apart when we were opening and peeling the necks. The bartender took them back and had the cook put them in longer. Apparently, clams are like microwave popcorn and they need to be timed right from the beginning or it just doesn't work. My Father and Step Mother threw in the towel on theirs about a 1/4 through and told the bartender to take it away. I thought they were difficult to eat and not worth the entree price so, I allowed mine be taken as well. I would have kept trying to eat the necks and runny bellies separately if I known that the owner was going to charge full price and compensate us with a round of $2.50 draft beers. Cheap beer is a highlight. However, our bill was $100 before the tip. We left hungry and went to The Atlantic for consistently good food and service. read more

Wow! This place is clean and bright inside with food as good as it gets! Decided to try the RipTide Sports Grille as it was recommended by a friend. There were 3 of us for dinner; me, my husband and his brother. Cozy and nicely decorated with a casual atmosphere. There is a dining side and a bar side. Our waitress, Christine, was sweet and attentive. The food was great! We started with the fried calamari, light airy little pieces of freshness. My brother in law had the bowl of clam chowder. He liked it but thought could have been a little creamier. Yet he said he loved the flavor. I had the fried scallops, huge and plentiful, which were coated in a light batter, cooked to perfection and a 10 out of 10. Gordon Ramsey would have been proud! Hubby had the pork and little necks, and said he gives it an 9 out of 10. My brother in law had the Portuguese Steak and said the steak was tender and flavors were good, giving it a 9 out of 10. Portions were large so you won't go home hungry! I think we found a new little favorite spot. Definitely recommend! read more

We had gotten food right after restaurants were allowed to open up again and the hubby got a Portuguese steak that he enjoyed. Went again today a little over a month from the first time and the steak was like shoe leather, I got the fish and chips, the fish was overcooked and dry. More than likely won't be back. Went in on a Saturday night to see local band. Sat at the bar had a few drinks while watching them play. Tried the "Riptide" tasted phenomenal. Ordered the seafood platter, was great not over fried which is what most places tend to do but they hit it spot on. Will definitely be coming back in the near future. read more
