I was expecting it to be a dive (I do love a good dive bar!), but Stingy Alley is beautiful and classy, with an amazing cocktail menu and small bites as well. I loved the dark wood decor, the low lighting throughout the establishment, and the accent lights at the bar are so pretty. There are many different types of seating - bar, high top tables, benches, regular tables, and a cute and comfy corner booth with throw pillows, which is where we opted to sit. Service was excellent. I was expecting to have to order at the bar, but Stingy Alley has table service. My husband ordered the espresso martini and I went with the Dubai chocolate martini. Both were outstanding - I could easily have tried a few more of the dessert cocktails, but alas we had a 40 minute drive home so that will have to wait for another visit. Will definitely come back to Stingy Alley - thanks for a lovely end to our night!

From the same folx that brought fan faves Square Peg and Amy's, they have done it again. I love the banquetts they have installed around the perimeter for seating. The holiday decor was lovely and the service was great. They have limited food options, but there are a couple choices if you want a snack while enjoying a libation.

I've been here twice now. The first time was for an event (perhaps fundraiser? I'm not sure as I…read moredidn't purchase the required in advance tickets) where dinner options were Portuguese steak or baked stuffed lobster. What I find really odd about this is that ticket cost was the same regardless of what you ordered. I don't care for lobster so I assumed that I would get some type of upgrade that would make the steak option comparable in cost but that didn't occur. So to be it makes me wonder how logical the manager/owner is based on something as simple as this oddity. Let me start at the beginning. This particular area can be a little tough to find parking in as you'll have to park on the street. But I'm familiar with this area so I'm used to it but for anyone that's not from here I figure this will be helpful info. As you walk in, the place has a cool tiled wall with their name on it. Makes for some nice picture opportunities.... but there is a weird smell. It's like the cheap bathroom air freshener smell. That's the best way I can describe it. And I have a poor sense of smell so for me to notice it, it must be overwhelming for others. There's also a strange window front placement of chairs in the display window that doesn't make much sense to me. I guess if you want to pretend to be a window mannequin it would be fun. You have the option to walk in the restaurant on the left or bar on the right. For the event, we went into the restaurant area. For my second visit, we went to the bar on the right. The event had many attendees. There was the food and a DJ. The above mentioned steak was just OK. I wasn't wowed by it. The lobster appeared overcooked and dry but I didn't have any so I'm just basing this on appearance but it didn't look good at all. Servers were friendly and had no issue with any of the wait staff. The second visit was with two other people so I was able to take bites of their food. I ordered baked stuffed fish with rice, the others in my party ordered Portuguese steak and chicken Mozambique. The steak was cooked perfectly to how it was asked to be prepared but the taste was strange. Almost like it absorbed the taste of propane/gas used to cook it, if that makes sense. It wasn't prepared on a grill though so as to how that flavor came about is a mystery. The sauce for the steak was just OK. I wasn't impressed. The mashed potatoes that came with it were good. My fish was just OK. Nothing that I couldn't have made myself and for the price, I was hoping it would be a little better. It wasn't outrageously expensive but in Fall River you can get better for less. I don't mind paying more but make it worth my while. The chicken Mozambique was the table favorite and we enjoyed that. However.... again.... while I'm saying it was our favorite... it was just OK. We were the only ones there so it was a really slow night. I am used to waiting awhile for food as most Portuguese food takes a while to prepare. My largest complaint though and the reason why I wouldn't go back there again is that the soda is flat and gross tasting. We mentioned it to our server (who was also the bartender) and she said the owner came out to look at it and reported it was working. Perhaps they don't purchase Coke/Pepsi products and it's some no-name brand that tastes gross? I couldn't tell you but if soda makes or breaks you then this place remains broken.....

I was escorted to my table and was soon greeted by my waiter Ethan who brought bread and the menus. Bread was just mini white loafs, exceptional only for its absolute freshness. So many places have done away with table bread so this was very much appreciated, but it was way too much for a single diner. The mostly Portuguese menu had much to choose from. I got the Pasteis de Bacalhau appetizer (codfish cakes). The 8 small-sized cakes had a subtly crisp golden brown exterior and a filling that was light in both texture and flavor - less salt cod than in some others would be my guess. This was served with banana peppers and black olives over a bit of lettuce. I liked them but felt a sauce of some sort would have elevated them. I used Red Hot from the table. The entree section was very heavy on the meats, particularly steaks of which there were 8, sirloin, shish ka bob, filet, and t-bone, prepared in a variety of ways. I didn't want a steak and, being in a Portuguese restaurant I wanted something more obviously Portuguese. So I went to the seafood section which was also extensive and found Swordfish Alhinho Style. I asked Ethan about it who replied confidently and correctly that it was a lemony sauce made with a lot of garlic and it is served over the fish which is grilled. Which was exactly correct. He was a great waiter in all respects. The dish was the swordfish, boiled halved potatoes, and broccoli. The fish was generously covered with the lemony garlicky gravy, the garlic in large chunks making up maybe 1/2 of the volume. There was plenty enough left over for the potatoes, which I liked for being just boiled and sliced, not mashed. The only flaw was the broccoli. I'm not sure but it tasted frozen, not fresh. That's a shame because there was a lot of it but it wasn't worth eating. So both the appetizer and entree were very good, and representative of Portuguese cuisine. Not innovative or special in any way but this isn't that kind of restaurant. It's upscale but not "fine dining". You can see that in the table settings too: the napkins are white cloth but the placemats are the paper kind with advertisements on them. But it was a nice atmosphere in spite of the Keno machine and many televisions, and the noise level was moderate. The cocktails used mostly standard brands like Bacardi and Stoli, with a few unusual liqueurs added in. I had a Portuguese Cha Frio (Iced Tea) made with Stoli Citron, Licor Beirao (a Portuguese liqueur), unsweetened tea, and lemon. I liked it and it seemed strong enough. The wine list included a few Portuguese ones by the glass. I didn't think my wine very good but I wanted to stick to the Portuguese theme as much as possible. I liked that it was brought in a carafe that still had some left over after Ethan poured my first glass. The espresso was perfect. No disagreeable sour notes, just pleasantly and slightly bitter, an aroma slightly fruity. As for desserts, I don't think they are made in house, and they aren't particularly Portuguese. My cheesecake (was it Crème Brûlée flavor?) was good, with a semi-dry texture, a layer of caramel on top, and a drizzle of something underneath. So overall I was pretty satisfied with Nuno's. 4.5 stars really. To get that 5th star from me they'd only have to improve the broccoli and add ethnic desserts made in house.

There are little details everywhere you look and it feels fun, warm and intentionally designed without trying too hard. It is such a great space for a gathering. The food was delicious. I tried the weekly deviled eggs, a selection of charcuterie and cheeses, and the whipped feta dip with fresh cut veggies. Everything was fresh, flavorful and perfect for grazing during a cocktail-style event. The winter cranberry spritz was basically all of my favorite flavors in one glass. So so good. Their cocktail and mocktail menu really shines and I cannot wait to go back and try more. As someone with food intolerances, I asked plenty of questions and everyone was friendly, patient and helpful with both menu guidance and cocktail suggestions. That always makes such a difference. There was even parking, which is a huge bonus. This is the perfect spot for a winter cocktail party or a fun night out. I will definitely be gathering my girls and heading back soon.

If you like thick clam chowder, this is it. For meals we opted to split the honey, hot chicken sandwich and a buffalo chicken pizza. Not gonna lie, the bowl of chowder was pretty big, and I was pretty full by the time I was done with it. The honey hot chicken sandwich is more like a honey mustard chicken. It was still pretty good, but if you are expecting hot honey, this is not it. I opted to have the blue cheese on the side with the pizza, because my husband doesn't like blue cheese. The buffalo chicken pizza was actually really delicious. It was like a bar pizza that you would get from the south shore. You really can't find this pizza in Rhode Island or in Southern MA, so this was a great find. Staff were friendly and attentive. I didn't get any alcoholic drinks cause it was pretty early and not much of a day drinker, but it had a really good vibe and I'm sure it's a lot of fun at night. The drink menu looked really good so I'll likely come back for drinks and apps. There's a cute outdoor seating area. It was pretty hot so we sat inside, but I'm sure this is a great place to sit at night time once the sun goes down and it cools off.
