Had the vegetable salad to make a healthy choice but it was drenched in dressing which detracted from any health benefits and I definitely wouldn't order it again.

For dinner we ate at the upstairs patio with a great view of the water. For starters we had the bread service which was excellent. The warm bread was served with an avocado butter which was so good. For our entrees I had the prime cut of steak which was cooked perfectly and served over carrots and a truffle purée of potatoes. It was absolutely delicious!! And a lot of them are underage college kids whose fake IDs got called out for what they were. In all? Black Duck is NOT a place you go for a birthday or a "great burger." Never has been, never even pretended to be, and the idiots who wrote that in just tried to use that cinch to justify their negative reviews after being denied underage drinking. Black Duck has always been, is and always will be a train station crowd dive bar. Their burgers were always very "ok." And the fries came in all shapes and crisp levels. But they are and remain the quick and cheap stop on thousand's customers trip back home after work in the city. And the food isn't the "75 hour sweated virgin French onion soup from virginally harvested French onions." But it's good and simple American fare at very reasonable prices. Talk about last minute birthday decisions! So last year on my birthday I had a friend order…read moretakeout and we had it at their house. This year for my 35th, I was on my own for dinner this time around. That being said, I think I found a winner here to celebrate my 35th birthday. Say hello to Lazy Sister, located in the heart of South Norwalk where the restaurant scene comes alive! Because I was a single coming in, I was seated right away, no reservation needed. They were even kind enough to place my bag in the atrium so that I wouldn't have it in the way. I was seated at a table set for two, but it's a good thing I guess that I came on my own. First thing I notice upon coming in is that it is a very classy restaurant, not your typical dim sum joint. It's also not a big space, but that's fine by me. Honestly, this would make a great date night spot for anyone going out on a date. Funny enough, I was actually suggested this place by my friend the night I went to Jacob's Pickles. For reasons I am about to get to, I am glad I decided not to come here until a later date. So why would I say that? Well, because tonight, my order consisted of two Junmai Genshu "Little Sumo" sakes as well as the Salt & Pepper Calamari, a medium level Dry Fry Style Szechuan Chicken, and then the Fortune Cookie Soft Serve for dessert. Not only did I pay more here, but I also got more inebriated here than I did at Jacob's Pickles. But it's my birthday, so tonight it's not in my contract to care. You only live once, and I am already in like the middle of my life, so it all evens out, right? Speaking of the food, everything I ate was immaculate! The calamari was seasoned perfectly, vegetables were cooked and crisp, the spice from that Szechuan didn't overpower. It was more like a pleasant tingle, especially when mixed with water or sake. Everything was done just right. And that soft serve cooled me down in just the right way. Delicious and well worth finishing off the night! And while there were other drinks that definitely looked good, I couldn't say no to sake. That's like THE ultimate celebratory drink far as I'm concerned, and it was awesome! If you were wondering about the service, these people are quite friendly. They help you through anything you might need. While I waited a while to tell them, I did eventually tell my waitress it was birthday while I was on dessert. Cool enough, we are both Tauri! I love it when I get to talk to another Taurus! :) The bill was also why I am glad I waited for another occasion to come here. Because I decided to splurge, the affair was about $100 once tip was factored in. It was well worth it, and tonight's outing will definitely make for a fun story to tell. But 34 was a hard year. I deserve to let loose every now and then, and hopefully 35 will be a happier age. All in all, a great restaurant and well worth the money to come here.

We started off with the chili oil dumplings which were super flavorful! For entrees we got the Mongolian beef and the shrimp fried rice. Fried rice was my favorite -- didn't need any soy sauce or duck sauce bc it had enough flavor on its own. For drinks I got the lychee drink which was on the sweeter side for my personal taste. Overall, loved my experience and can't wait to go back to try more menu items.

Ive been there for dinner time as well, it's lively, loud in a good way, and immediately feels like somewhere you could stay for hours. I ordered the miso ramen, and it was honestly one of the most satisfying bowls of ramen I've had in Connecticut. The broth was the star of the dish its deep, rich, savory, and layered with that perfect balance of umami and subtle sweetness from the miso and a bit nitty form the sesame seeds. The noodles had the perfect texture: chewy, springy, and able to hold onto the broth beautifully. Nothing was overcooked or mushy . What impressed me most was how balanced the ramen was. Some ramen spots go overboard with salt or spice, but this bowl felt refined. Rich but not greasy. Flavorful but not overpowering. You could tell there was actual technique behind it. The portion size was also generous enough to leave completely full without feeling uncomfortable afterward. The service matched the food perfectly and so freaking sweet. The decor is a lovely authentic izakaya with the wood paneling and everything. It's a beautiful homage to Japanese culture. Ok now menu. Lunch there is great but recommend going for the dinner menu over anything to have more options! The addictive cabbage is just as it says, addicting. It's acidic, savory and has the perfect crunch to it. The crab Rangoons are sooo good. They give you plenty of sauce and you can tell it's the good crab. The cold sesame noodles are perfect! A little bit of heat, a bunch of flavor. I'm drooling just thinking about it! The chili dumplings were good but a little too spicy for me! We also really enjoyed the kimchi carbonara and personally, I'm a sucker for udon noodles! And now the star of the show for me and something I've ordered three times now! The crab fried rice! The crab is so tender and buttery, like it actually melts in your mouth. And the pork belly chunks in it, also tender and delicious. I like dream of this dish every week! And the great thing is you can order the half size during dinner so you can try other things too! This spot is in my top 5 for 2026 so far! Please go try them asap!
