I had a water leak in my master bathroom a few weeks ago and I contacted Rigid remodeling and restoration. Shawn the owner was here at my house the same day and assessed my bathroom damages. He prepared the insurance required paperwork and submitted it the next day and shortly after he got my insurance approval. They started the repairs very quickly and finished the entire project in a good timely manner with a five star work quality. Their crew were very professional and polite. I had the unfortunate luck with having two leaks in a span of two months. When I had the first leak, the mitigation company recommended Rigid for the restoration part of the water damage. Shawn, the owner, was very quick to get me an estimate on the repair work to submit to the insurance. Once everything was dry, they quickly put up the drywall and spray texture. When it was time for the painting, that's when I noticed our 2nd leak and called Shawn ASAP. He came out quickly to assess the damage of the 2nd claim to submit to the insurance. When the drywall was completed from the 2nd leak, he sent his guy to finally paint and finish up any touch-ups needed. All in all, I am very satisfied with the restoration work his team did and looks just like it was before the water damage. Insurance fraud! Shawn was the shadiest person we've ever worked with. TLDR, I recommend that no one use Rigid Remodeling's services. My insurance company even said that he preys on homeowners and they had to put an alert on his account to let homeowners know. 1. He billed my insurance for things he never intended to do, worth 10% of the total amount, almost $800. When the work was "complete", and many things had not been done, I asked for credits for the work not done. Instead of admitting that he was caught, he accused me of doing something illegal and said he would put a lien on my house! My insurance company and legal advice said I have every right to ask for the credit for work he didn't do. Shady. 2. He made me sign contracts and give $500 at our very first meeting, talking the whole time so I didn't read the contracts. He said the $500 was just to cover the work to to negotiate with insurance. If so, why did I have to sign a contract that only he could do work and no one else? That was after I told him I was still getting quotes. Shady. 3. The workmanship was very bad. Most of the random people he hired tried to leave without letting me check the work, some actual got away before I could look it over. Almost every one of them left large amounts of trash, debris, bags of open grout that I had to clean up myself. 4. The whole process was very slow and disjointed. He had many random people (7 different groups of people, about 15 total) do very specific work (like an 18 year old doing just the grout), none of them seemed like professionals in any way. 5. No one was overseeing the project, so when things were missed I would call Shawn and he would say "Oh how I wish you would have told me!"... when I was telling him. Then he gave me a sob story about how he now has to pay the people extra to finish the work. I had to finish much of the work myself. 6. Some workers would come by without even calling first. I never knew who would be coming on any day. When things were scheduled, Shawn would let me know the same day. 7. He came after everything was "done" after I complained. He said he was there to do the stuff he charged for but didn't do. That was not possible since he charged hundreds of dollars for a sliding glass I never got. Super shady. 8. None of this was COVID safe. I asked Shawn to ask everyone to wear masks because we have immunocompromised individuals. Only 2 people out of the 15 came with masks on. read more

I booked an appointment with Shawn twice for some home remodelling that i had to do at my home. On the first appointment,it was considered my mistake since I did not sent him my address. Though he has confirmed the appointment and had my contact details. He could have always Called me. When I called, he mentioned, he did not have my address and hence he did not come. Anyways, we moved on and setup another appointment. This time he had my address too. The appointment was in the middle of thr day and I had told him to be there since I have to skip my office to accommodate for the time he has given to me. He msged me that he will be 30 mins late, which I said is ok. I was waiting, but he never showed up. Called him, left him a voice mail and msg several times, but he did not even bother to respond No, I did not took his company service. But my feedback is that everyone should respect others time. Very poor customer service and unethical. The requested upfront fee just for estimate for insurance and then attempted to keep fee when dispute over their service. They were unable to perform the job for a few weeks. I finally got them to return half the deposit after a long battle. They justified keeping half as part of their cost for estimation for insurance. They have hostile attitude and seem to be of opinion they are deserving of a project just because an insurance company was paying for the project. I finally threw them off the project as potential contractor and hired another contractor to do the job at half the price and do the job immediately. I don't recommend Rigid Remodeling for any construction work. If you decide to use Rigid beware of signing their estimate which appears to give approval for them to proceed. Beware. read more

unreasonably overpriced! we had a minor leak in the second floor bathroom. They charged $500 just to provide paperwork to insurance. They quoted $4800 to repair and paint the drywall in the kitchen and bathroom, which insurance only agreed to pay half of it. We went ahead with a good handyman that we usually work with and spent $1500. read more

I was very pleased with Shawn for my renovation. I wanted an 'open concept' living area and that's exactly what I got. Shawn's team provided a very extensive estimate for my bathrooms water damage project, very quality analysis and professional report. I submitted the estimate to my insurance company who sent out their claims adjuster. After the adjuster came out, the insurance determined that Rigid remodeling quote was consistent with a remodeling project for two bathrooms. The insurance denied the claim. I obtained two other price quotes, which were consistent with a bathroom water damage project, not a remodel. Although I do not doubt that Rigid's services are great, I would be cautious and ensure you are receiving multiple bids and make an informed decision. However, Rigid did lower their price, but it was still too high. We went ahead and contracted with one of our other bidders. This rating is solely based on their cost estimate being too high for the insurance. Great professional report we paid $500 which was non-refundable. The other bidders did not ask for a non-refundable deposit. read more

We acquired Rigid remodeling services to fix a water damage. It was a very bad experience overall. Shawn overcharges you and your insurance, and provides low-quality services. Few examples regarding pricing: * Charging insurance high numbers per sqft for carpet material but then asking the homeowner to go with a low cost material. * Charging for insulators but not using any. * Charging heftily for an "electrician" to do a simple job, while the job was done by the drywall people. * Charging insurance 100$+ to remove/put back each door (was not needed, and for many of the doors it was not even done). The quality of the work is also not good: * The carpet person left behind all sort of debris and pins on the carpet. * The painters, left parts unevenly painted. * The carpenter used the wrong paint to paint the cavity cabinet (Tried two times), getting me to the point of "I don't want you to fix it, just leave!" Dealing with Shawn himself is a headache. The restoration gets delayed as his crew members cancel. And when that happens, every time he reschedules for the next week (not for the next day), and this happens several times! Hence a project that could have finished in 8 working days, takes months. And good luck trying to cancel a contract with him, he will overcharge you for things that are not even done, and will not even honor his quote to decide what is done and what is left. read more

My upstairs neighbor had a leak in her sink which spilled down through my ceiling! I had extensive water damage.... Rigid construction to the rescue!!!! Shawn was beyond amazing and so available for all my needs and plethora of questions. We had a minor leak from our second floor bathroom that caused some water damage and mold in the first floor ceiling underneath. After fixing the leak, we were recommended by our plumber to contact Rigid Remodeling and Restoration to take care of the mold. Shawn arrived and used a moisture meter to measure the moisture in the wood behind the drywall. Shawn originally quoted $800 to take care of the moisture and mold and repair the drywall. Note, the moisture was contained within about one square foot, and the drywall that needed to be replaced was no more than 4x2 feet. We talked this down to $500 since our home warranty would cover the drywall repair. So we paid $500 for Shawn's team to cut out the old drywall and remove the moisture. Except that removing the moisture apparently meant pointing a floor/carpet fan at my ceiling for a couple of days. And of course, when Shawn returned, the moisture level was still the same and Shawn suggested there was still a leak. So we essentially paid $500 for them to cut a hole in the ceiling. After this ordeal, I went to Home Depot, rented a dehumidifer for less than $100, and bought a moisture meter for about $50. The moisture was gone in a day. I scrubbed out the residual mold myself and we had the ceiling closed up. As a new homeowner, I panicked when my plumber told me about the moisture and mold. But this was a simple job that I could have done myself for less than $200. It was unfortunate to be taken advantage of by this company, but you live and learn. From the other reviews, it seems like they do a good job on bigger projects however. read more

I can't say enough good things about this company. We had a fridge leak which caused some water damage. Called Rigid Remodeling and they immediately came to assess the damage. After deciding to go with them on Saturday, the work started the same day. They start drying the place and Shawn came to check on moister level on Sunday.He was great, professional and friendly. He was very professional in the damage assessment and sending the draft for the statement-of-work to the homeowners insurance company very quickly. From removing the damaged drywall and base, setting up a temp heater for me and my family, and then restoring everything back to its original condition (drywall and base rebuild + painting, and re-installing the new heater).
