What's not to like about chocolate! That is really all I need to say, but there's the other side of the story. This place has some pretty unique items. Where I come from a turtle needs to have Carmel and a pecan, well here they have all kinds of different types of turtles. Really nice flavors and huge. Ricky's Chocolate Box had me with the word chocolate. So many yummy candy selections to choose from. Right when you walk in the door the smell of chocolate smacks you in the face. Now, yes I say now, they are making yummy donuts. They are so yummy and are made fresh every day. The service is top notch as well. read more

I visited this establishment today while at the Christkindl Markt (which proved to be just another day of downtown shopping.) I got there about 2pm and it was slim pickins; unlike the last time I went in 2017. Prices for their candy were not listed. the only thing listed was a small box noting that 1 pound was $32 so everything else was a guessing game. I got a small package of chocolate covered toffee, a peanut butter /chocolate covered pretzel, 2 sea salt caramels, a white chocolate covered blueberry blob, and one pistachio turtle. cost with tax? $33.xx. not saying it's not good, just that it's way over price. This place needs to up their "$$" to "$$$" and put their prices where people can see them before getting shocked at the register. read more

I was absolutely overwhelmed by all the tasty looking options. But I have to say that's after eating the pieces I got, I was underwhelmed. Immediately in your right after entering is a shelf of about 15 different flavors of fudge with sample jars in front. They sell the fudge is small pieces which I think is super awesome because I never want an entire half or whole pound of fudge. So I began sampling and none of them really did it for me...as far as fudge goes, this was less sweet than I'm used to. I also wasn't too crazy about the carrot cake truffle or the couple pieces I had that contained caramel. The caramel stuck to my teeth quite a bit more than I would've liked. However, I will say the chocolate dipped Oreo and the espresso truffle were pretty darn good! As always, it just depends on what you like. read more

Stopped in with the Lady for some local sweets. First impression when walking through the door is wow. Glass cases wow you with sweets from every angle. I had to try some of the chocolate covered bacon, salted caramel, and the Lady goes for a cheesecake bon bon, a peanut cluster, and a red velvet cake bon bon. My bacon good but a little heavy on the smoke. Not the chocolate makers fault, I'd just recommend a less smokey bacon. The sea salt caramel square was simply the best thing I had all day. So good. The Lady liked the cheese cake bon bon, but not the red velvet. The peanut cluster was made with good chocolate, but was just too dense. Overall we enjoyed the sights and flavors. A must stop for anyone with a sweet tooth. The Good Wow factor walking through the door. Chocolate by the pound. Lots of variety. Some amazing Sea Salt Caramel The Bad Over smokey bacon. The chocolate caramels here are really good! It is a harder caramel than the milk caramel that I find in most chocolate shops. They have a pretty good selection of specialty truffles and other chocolate dipped treats. Price seems just a little high but not too bad. The lady behind the counter was very nice and helpful. Everything is good here. Also this is in a really cute old fashioned sort of town with nice museums, restaurants,and antique stores. read more

I like this place so much that I decided to save this to be my 600th review... I am sometimes prone to hyperbolize my recollection of an experience when I really, really like something. That is not the case with this statement: these folks make some of the best toffee I've ever had! Their pecan toffee is nothing short of amazing. Creamy, rich, and full of flavor. Flavor that transcends the toffee/chocolate/nuts experience and becomes something altogether more impressive than any component when eaten by itself. This is what other toffee wants to be when it grows up! It may sound a little strange that I am THIS much in love with their toffee but I will make a special trip just to get more at some point in the near future, Not sure when, but I will probably wake up early on a Saturday morning and demand the whole family pile into the car so we can go back for more toffee. Also, at $16 per pound for anything in the store, they are something of a bargain when it comes to handmade chocolate products. read more

I visited this lovely little store in Hermann on a weekend trip! I love chocolate! We went to this store at least twice during our trip. While I am sure that they are not the only place in the US that sells honeycomb (as it's called in Ireland) or sponge candy, it's the only place I've found it in the Midwest! The chocolate was very good. I loved the chocolate covered pretzels with peanut butter. The perfect amount of crunch, sweet and salt. They gave us a discount for wearing our masks also. My husband and I are new to Missouri, but have already visited Ricky's Chocolate Box 4 times. We always purchase at least two boxes each time. The chocolate is " THE BEST. On our last visit the young lady mistakenly put a couple white chocolate raisin candies in the box, we don't like raisin so we threw them away. I came here yesterday and ordered a few chocolates. I got a cheesecake truffle and two salted milk chocolate caramels. The cheesecake truffle was OK, but the salted milk chocolate caramels were DELICIOUS. The prices are pretty reasonable, they have a 10% off military discount, and you can use a credit card so long as you by $5 worth of chocolate. They had a huge selection of chocolates, so definitely worth a stop if you have a sweet tooth. read more

My friends & I had a lovely day in Hermann, Mo & wanted to end on a fun note by visiting The Chocolate Box. BIG mistake! We were greeted with indifference & silence by Amanda. Her lackluster, 1 syllable answers to our questions, and UNBELIEVABLE rudeness compelled the entire group, except for my mom (who was kindly & patiently trying to warm Amanda up), walked out! My mom continued to bite her tongue & cut short any further selections. She asked Amanda to just ring up the few pieces & turned around to find the rest of us had left! The other 4 of us were completely turned off by Amanda's behavior. After comparing how each person viewed the dismally unwelcoming experience, my mom went back in & asked to speak with the owner. She told Amanda that she had lost 5 customers for future visits. Her response: "I'm sorry I'm tired." Wow! I'm sorry that no one explained the fact you would be dealing with people in your position as a SALES PERSON, Amanda! Even though the chocolates were quite lovely & tempting, our experience has left us with such a bad taste that we've vowed to spend money at Sugar Momma's (bulk bin candy) located almost directly across the street. Furthermore, upon arriving home & eating the truffles- they all tasted exactly the same. I consider this bizarre, since amaretto and orange aren't exactly similar tastes. I have never had such an uncomfortable retail experience and I've enjoyed some real doozies! Were it possible, I would be leaving NEGATIVE 5 stars. In the darling little town of Hermann is a little candy shop selling a large variety of chocolate covered delights by the pound. Milk Chocolate, White Chocolate & Dark Chocolate are the optional coatings. You can choose a variety of nuts, pretzels, fruits, even Twinkies covered in chocolate. We picked up some chocolate covered macadamia nuts, peanut butter cups, cherries, a massive Bavarian pretzel teeming with caramel and chocolate covered, dark chocolate covered coffee beans, along with a few milk chocolate bars. All of this stuff fit in a small white box and cost us about $27. This place isnt cheap! The peanut butter cup had real unadulterated peanut butter and tasted exquisite. My favorite purchase was the Bavarian pretzel dripping with caramel and covered in milk chocolate. It was almost impossible to leave there without buying one of everything. Ricky's Chocolate Box is a darling little shop perfect for those last minute gifts or special treats for yourself. read more

November 25, 2017 3:00 p.m. We had a horrible experience yesterday, while in your store! The chocolate was typical, average pieces, (Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory it was NOT). The one factor that put a dark cloud over your chocolate store was the LACK of customer service. The young lady who served us must have been cast for the Walking Dead. She had no emotional connection from the product to the customer. My story is simple, upon asking her whether the chocolate pieces had real bing cherries, she responded by saying in a rude and condescending manner what else could the chocolates have? I responded by stating, I thought it may have some cherry flavored pieces not real bing cherries. Jack Frost could have made me feel warmer! My family and I will never return to your store. I will let all my family and friends know not to patronage your candy store. Thank you. read more

Chocolate specialty shops are always on the expensive side, but this one actually WARRANTS the prices. Delicious stuff. I had a wonderful espresso truffle and my mate tried the Oktoberfest turtle. Both were excellent. The turtle was actually made with German beer and had flaky bits of pretzel on top. This is the type of high-quality chocolate that will permanently ruin convenience store candy bars for you! The guy working the counter was helpful and enthusiastic. Employees were unbelievably rude. Hours online and on store didn't match up and when we walked in they were in the back. When we asked if they were open the employee (without coming out from the back) said "Well, what does the sign say?" And then proceeded to tell us to either get in or stay out. Ridiculous and completely uncalled for. Will never recommend this place to anyone. read more

The staff was awesome!! We bought Valentines for our kids and we got the toffee bark and some other things. They were so good. It was a little warm for a February day so we were sitting outside waiting on the trolley and Ricky brought each of us a bottle of water and chatted with us for a while.
