We always stop by Blackshire when in town for Hermann Oktorfest. Dropped back in on a Thursday before it got crazy for the weekend. The whiskeys and wines at G. Hussman are solid... More pricey than Copper Mule & Adam Puchta, etc., but still worth the stop because it's a cool place with great scenery.

Went here for wine flights and they did not disappoint! Great wine and great vibes. The outdoor seating section is huge and it sits right next to the creek. The staff was awesome and very friendly. We got both a red and a white wine flight. I like how they let you do the flight option so you can enjoy the outdoor seating. It's connected to the distillery so there's liquor and beer and other options as well.

This was Kropp Brewery at the turn of the century (1900) and founded on the region's close ties to German immigrants. Beer barons from Germany lined the river years ago. Today, Hermann, Mo main economy remains wine, beer and the regioo ties to it's past. We enjoyed meeting Jack, the stunning black horse draft horse......very AB Clydesdale like..... and having some cold brews here. Great ambiance! Stop here to enjoy a drink o. Their expansive patio.

You have travel on a gravel road to get there but it is worth it the tasting room is new and top notch, the employees love working there and the product and are great ambassadors. I usually don't like flavored "bourbons" but the blackberry bourbon is real good. I am a Kentucky bourbon lover and was skeptical of. Of the use of the word bourbon. It is worth a tasting

Blackberry whiskey! Yes it came home with me.. maybe two bottles! Great summer drink...

Ask the Community - Blackshire distillery

Is there a food menu of any sort or only alcohol? Thanks!

There's no food menu, but just across the street is the brewery, and they have food. You can also order a flight of six beer samples at the brewery for tasting, too. We did one right after the other, they are literally just steps apart.

Very interesting flavor profiles; we bought a few bottles but the most unique was the blackberry whiskey.

We had a party of 12 and we were told we'd be sat at different tables, no big deal. 8 of our party went to one table and the other 4 sat at a table catty corner to our party. We had separate waiters which I think was maybe their first mistake. Both tables ordered drinks and appetizers that came fast and were delicious....then things quickly fell apart. We were one of the first few tables seated. Our other parties tables food came out and us 4 at the other table was still waiting. We continued to wait while every table that came in after us starts getting their meals. Finally the table behind us that came in 30 min after us got their meals, we asked the waitress if she could check on our food? She came back and said it was "being plated." We wait a solid 30 more min and by this time our other parties table had eaten and were paying and we still did not have our food. Asked the waitress again who said they were waiting on mashed potatoes. We got up to check with the manager who was bartending who never once apologized or stopped to check on what was going on and only said "we got swamped." Which was a crazy excuse considering we were one of the first tables to order. Since the manager refused to help at all we talked to the hostess who was seating people and may have been the asst manager. She checked on our food and told us "there was a problem with the pesto." When our food came out my daughter mushroom and Swiss burger was charred to a crisp and hard. Finally the assistant manager took our meals off of our tickets. It was a frustrating experience for our first visit there and didn't leave a great impression. The food (minus my daughter's burger) and drinks were really good. I'm not sure where the disconnect happened but the managers poor excuse and the way he completely ignored us and the situation was pretty poor customer service. We come to Hermann every year and this year had brought people who had never been before. Sad they didn't get an enjoyable experience and my daughter didn't even get a meal.

Sadly, however, I could not order any to ship home to California. A return visit to Missouri was planned and a road trip to The Hermann Wine Trail area was mapped out. Our first stop? Pinckney Bend in New Haven, of course! Planning to purchase a bottle of hibiscus gin and tonic mix, I left with three bottles of gin, two of the hibiscus tonic mix, one corn whiskey, a four-pack of premixed G&TS and Hibhounds in cans, a super-soft t-shirt and one travel-sized PB 8 oz flask, complete with 2 metal shot glasses! Oh yeah, they also sell drinks of the patio for a whopping $5! Support this local business and tell them Pat sent you! Cheers

There were special tastings inside and outside they had fire pits, bales of hay to sit on, fried food on sticks, live music and spiked warm/ cold drinks! They also had these fun fire games set up where you hit a target and a blast of fire lit up the sky - so cool! All of the drinks were amazing and they had a mug deal where if you bought the mug for $10 you could refill it for $3 - this was just for the party though. Everyone was super nice, even when my friend decided to make a hay angel after tripping in the drink line. It's also fun that Paddle Stop Brewery is across the street so we could choose from cocktails or beer. We kept saying that we felt like we stepped into Hallmark movie, with all the small town charm! This is an annual event and we can't wait to make the stop next year!!
