Robller is located about 12 minutes west of Washington; you turn south off the highway when you can see the New Haven water tower. Robller is possibly the finest winery in Missouri; all grapes are grown and aged on-site; they are effectively organic, though they are not investing the funding to get the official "organic" certification. WINES OF DISTINCTION. all 100% true - - - We wish life offered more frequent opportunities to visit in person and are thankful that Dogwood Liquors (formerly Lucas Liquors) in Ellisville carries Robller's wines. - - - This visit... shorter than planned and absolutely awesome! Late this summer we had a chance to visit in person, to spend a relaxing afternoon there; something I can't remember delayed us, so we would have less than an hour in our visit; I was wishing I had managed our day better. My wonderful wife kept cheerful... soon we pulled into the Washington Schnucks... walking out with some ham from the deli and some newly-discovered gluten-free (GF) crackers... Blue Diamond's cheddar cheese flavored Nut-Thins... rice cracker snacks with almonds... and then we were pulling and walking into Robller. We ended up just standing at the one station at the bar, enjoying sips of multiple wines, enjoying ham and cheddar cheese nut-thin crackers, having a great time and smiling ear to ear. Some of the wines we enjoyed the most are: - Chambourcin Reserve, 2017 - Villa Rouge - Hillside Cuvee - Le Trompier Noir - Wedding Cuvee - Vignoles Even though the time was shorter than planned, time blessedly slowed and felt much longer than it was; we went home with some bottles to enjoy at home, and a couple new glasses, too. We learned of Robller Winery a few years ago from Dogwood Liquors (formerly Lukas Liquor). The wine we had was then was incredibly good. We've wanted to go there since then but life just didn't offer enough opportunities. Finally we got to go this fourth of July weekend, to celebrate my wonderful wife's birthday. WOW! I talked with Jerry on the phone earlier in the week to confirm times they were and were not open the holiday weekend. Jerry also gave us a good recommendation on BBQ to get on the drive in (Hazel's Front Porch in Washington, right off Hw 100 on Jefferson. The brisket pairs really well with anything, including the Norton we enjoyed at Robller. The drive off Highway 100 is on a gravel road through a hill or two, ending at the winery, which sits atop a rolling hillside typical of the Missouri River region. Robller has its vines growing on the hills surrounding the winery building. Jerry helped us pick their Norton to have with lunch, and he visited and talked with us, and the other guests (all well separated on the shaded patio. We learned how Jerry / Robller ages the grapes longer than typical, which helps longer-chained tannins grow... those are apparently smoother than the shorter-chained tannins found in many other wines, and this longer aging is what helps Robller Wines be as wonderfully smooth as they are. Jerry also introduced us to the cheese curds they offer from nearby M & T Farms in Owensville... they have nationally ranked cows. I only like cheese on pizza, and brie... and i really liked these cheese curds... they are good on their own and they pair very well with the wine. Thanks to Jerry, we have several wines to enjoy... Norton, Norton blends, Chamborcin, and a special Chamborcin he shared just because it's my wonderful wife's birthday. We enjoyed that Chambourcin with dinner later in the week and it was fantastic, too. Thank you, Jerry!!! Thank you, Jerry, for helping provide a wonderful birthday date afternoon for us! Cute vineyard on your way to or from Hermann. I really enjoyed our visit here and even got to chat with the owner for a little bit. His staff, who was alone during our visit, was very welcoming and friendly. As far as Missouri wines, I'm not a huge fan but courteous behavior and great services are always appreciated and that's what I got here, along with a couple bottles of wine! It's tough for me to like all the sweet and white varieties but I was able to find a red, dry and full-bodied one to take home (Norton). Well, as full-bodied as it can get in Missouri, I suppose but nice and oaky. I also picked up a white, surprisingly, because it smelled so much of lychee. It's semi-dry which might still be too sweet for me anyway. I did the tasting, we walked around a bit and saw the room you could rent for a party, etc. They have a lot of tables outside for those beautiful summer days to enjoy your wine with and a lovely view! It was so nice to get out of the city and enjoy the wide open space here. I know many places outside of STL County aren't necessarily taking as many precautions as they could (should), but this place was an exception. Tables were spaced out and staff had on masks. Their indoor tasting room was closed, which was just fine for us since we are not ready to be indoors just yet. The wine was REALLY good. If you say you're going to be open at 10am, be ready to go. We arrived at 10a. No doors were unlocked. There was a phone number on the door, so I called. A gentleman answered and said he was sorry no one was there and he would call someone who was there to come help us. Well, this man was not happy to be bothered with customers. He mentioned that he was not happy he had been bothered and that this wasn't what he usually did. We offered to leave because we did not feel welcome at all. He got our wine flights together....this consisted on 5 mini plastic glasses served on a Dixie paper plate. Not sure if this is their usual presentation or if this is what Mr. Grumpy put together. The place is nice, the view is amazing, the wines were good. But clearly they need some customer service training. read more

The Norton was really great! Easy to find, right off Hwy 100. You can sample for free. Family atmosphere, live band, they do except credit cards inside.. but the cost at the end of the rode is cash to listen to the band. They do sell wine, cheese, bread and gifts in the shop. read more

I have mixed feelings about Robller. I will say that I love the setting and that free tastings are available. I don't remember any particular wines, but I believed I liked one or two. We did the Hermann Wine Trail in one day, so we weren't able to spend a whole lot of time at each winery. Consequently, I did not savor the first wine, as I usually do, and instead went with my first tasting impression and swallowed. Then was called out on it. "Why did you swallow so quickly?" She disapproved. "You should take a minute and savor it." (Or something along those lines.) I knew that already. Of course, she had no way of knowing that I know that. However, her phrasing left something to be desired, and after trying another couple of wines in the manner she demonstrated, I left without making a purchase. I'll go back next time I'm on the Hermann Trail, if it's convenient, but I won't make any special trip or go out of my way to do so. read more

I like the Jeux D'eau white wine... it was a nice light white wine with peachy overtones. Can't say any of the others were particularly to my taste. The best thing about today's visit was the gal in the tasting room. We arrived here as our 4th stop on the wine trail and were promptly told that at Robller everyone gets a fresh glass. (We had tickets for the Chocolate Wine Tour, visit 7 wineries and enjoy a glass of wine paired with a chocolate dessert, each glass served in your own "keepsake" glass.). This set this winery apart, what a nice touch! How thoughtful that I don't have to use a dirty glass I've been trucking around for hours to try their wines. A "can't miss" Missouri winery to visit. Better than most landscape views at a winery in the region, very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Most of all I have done various Missouri wine tours a few times with friends & family and I was NOT a fan of Missouri wines. Using only their estate grown grapes, longer aging times and their knowledge Röbller has produced some very good wines. Not just for Missouri, but in general. I would recommend trying their "Land Grant" and then see if your opinion of Missouri wines changes. read more

This is a great place to visit when around Hermann. Both times I have been here, the staff is super friendly and the location cannot be beat. The number of wines they have is extensive, and they allow you to taste any/all if you like, along with providing a few flavor enhansers such as chocolate, etc. They skew to the sweet side, but have some very tasty white wines that are perfect to enjoy on their small patio, overlooking the countryside. Try the White Steuben with peanut butter cookies--no joke, this is actually delicious! They also have a very large event space that is inviting (both in the winter and spring). Their tasting room also carries a selection of gifts (great one stop place if you need to pick up something for friends/family back home). read more

Our first trip to Robller on Hermann wine weekend for our first anniversary. We tasted most of the wines and had a great chat with the owner. He was a very nice, soft-spoken guy that obviously loves what he does. We ended up buying two bottles - Villa Rouge (a nice in between wine for my husband the dry drinker, and myself, the sweeter drinker) and the White Steuben. They sample the White Steuben with peanut butter chips. How I never thought about pairing peanut butter and sweet wines is ridiculous. It was great! We didn't get to enjoy the outside as much as Steve O., because it was so hot, but the view was great. I could imagine downing a few bottles with friends outside. We'll go back, for sure. read more

I've been to this winery where it was just two of us and have been here when the entire winery was packed full of people and no matter what, it's been a great time. The people here are super and if you can try their wines and not find something you like, you should probably just stick to beer. We picked Robller as our first stop on the wine trail we did, as its the furthest away from the city but the first winery you pass as you come into the area. The staff was very friendly and we had an area that was set up just for the Wine trail people. They gave us our glasses and explained that we got to eat the food and taste as many wines as they had available for us (which was 5). The food was delicious and the wines were right up our alley. They have a little shop that you can find any information on the other wineries as well as Hermann and can purchase their wines if you like. read more

I loved that this place had a few more dry wines then others in MO. Still not a ton, but more than the others in the area. The staff said they've found people are wanting more dry wines. Add me to that list. While the wines were tasty, the most enjoyable part was the informative and friendly staff. It was pretty slow on a weekday when we stopped by, so we talked quite a bit and learned a lot about the various wines. We have been to Hermann, MO many times, but this was our first visit to Robller Vineyard and Winery in nearby New Haven. I can tell you it won't be the last. We absolutely loved this place. It is a family operated winery and we had the pleasure of meeting Jerry, one of the owners. He took so much time discussing and sharing the history of the Vineyard and the differences of the wines that it made us want to stay longer. We love it when we get to meet the owners and hear first hand the experiences they encounter while making the wine. If you are staying in Hermann, this place is a must stop and a close drive. Their wine is absolutely delicious and you can tell by the first drink that this is more than just a business, it is their legacy.
