My husband and I stopped here during our weekend in Hermann. The winemaker was very friendly and had a story behind each wine. He really puts his heart into each of the wines he makes and it shows. All of the wines are made from fruit so if you dont like fruit wine then this may not be for you. However I will say I am not much of a fruit wine person, but all of the wines were smooth, unique, and not too sweet. The wines are very reasonably priced and the tastings are free. Plus you get a great lesson on wine! I am happy to support this local winemaker and suggest everyone to wine taste and buy a bottle before this hidden gem becomes noticed. I highly recommend the raspberry wine. This is the best winery near hermann due to quality, price, and true customer service which is forgotten at the larger wineries. Thanks for a great time!

The spicy wines (raspberry chipotle, jalapeño and habanero) are great for cooking.

I visited Stone Hill Winery yesterday, and while the property is beautiful, the service was…read moreextremely disappointing. When we walked in, we weren't greeted at all. Several other couples who arrived around the same time were welcomed immediately, but we were left standing there without any acknowledgment. It was uncomfortable and made us feel overlooked in a way no quest should experience. I can't say why we were treated differently, but the contrast was hard to ignore. Because of the lack of attention, we ended up buying only a few bottles- even though we originally planned to purchase two full cases. We also chose not to buy anything from the stores afterward, which is unusual for us, but the experience at the beginning made it difficult to fully appreciate the visit. For a winery with such a strong reputation, I expected a much more welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. This was a one- star experience for us, and we won't be returning.

Our tour guide was great and we really enjoyed the tour. We enjoyed a delightful lunch on the patio - the food and service were quite good. My only criticism of the dining experience was when the waitress brough the check and my wife said she was picking it up and the waitress looked at the check and said "well, you're getting off pretty cheap". I think that comment was rude and uncalled for. We did buy some wine to take with us and enjoyed our visit despite the waitresses' comment.

Pretty decent brunch. Good omlette station and variety of food. Nice outdoor seating and scenery. I…read morewish they had their own wines to do wine tasting. Wine prices are bit much. In order to taste the wines before we buy a bottle we had to order a flight ow wine. We did not like 2 of the wines so that was a waste.

So look, you have to consider this place in context. If you've never been to a winery or one in a…read moretraditional region (Napa, WA, OR, Europe) then you'll love it. However you're in the middle of Missouri where grapes don't generate like traditional regions, and palettes are different. So if you're familiar with wineries and good wine this will be quaint but not your place. This is more of an event space with wine as an afterthought as evidenced by the gaggle of sororities and moms funneling in all day. Frankly, I was appalled at the event I attended for my daughters sorority. Everyone bought a $25 bottle of sweet or semi-sweet wine (that's this wineries specialty), dropped in a straw, and suckled their sippy cups. Their sweet wines are like wine coolers - and what college student doesn't like those? That should give context to the quality of wine and positioning of this space). Their traditional varietals all have sweet or fruit forward notes - Cabs are more like Pinots but lacking the depth and notes of a true spicy, bold cab. Past this, parking is like a festival, down a dirt road about a quarter mile walk from the front door. While I wouldn't return, it's a great place for an event and provides something unique to the area. And obviously the Greek system utilizes as a more sophisticated approach to the bars in Columbia.
