I hate to write a review like this because I love Chandler Hill. We had our wedding reception here. The Mother's Day brunch was terrible. In previous years they had staggered times and now everyone all comes at once. They release tables to go up to the buffet which leaves a long line as well as a lot of people waiting to go up to the buffet. We have gone to this buffet several times and I am sad to say this will be our last year. Unfortunately, the food was not as good and somewhat tasted like cold cafeteria food. For $143 I expected more. They had less food variety as well. They use to have an omelette stations which they no longer have. And my daughter was sad to see they didn't have a chocolate fountain like they did in previous years. We are usually not complainers, however we decided to talk to the general manager and now we see why things are the way they are. My husband let him know the staggered times worked better. The manager shrugged his shoulders and said this is the way we have done it for the last 3 years. I said the food wasn't as good as previous years and he shrugged his shoulders. The outdoor patio overlooks the Vineyards and picturesque countryside! There are both shady and full sun seating. Fantastic Cover band trio that played everything and in between well! I attended for a Birthday Brunch Buffet. Which was nice but I would recommend ordering off the menu because you still have to order indivually for drinks and they have a great menu! The service was just ok, it wasn't bad but they clearly need to beef up the staff both in front and back house. The patio was packed and inside they were setting for a Wedding..tables outside were filled with empty wind glasses and plates were stacking up. Our server had a Huge section and was doing his best. Chandler Hill is a beautiful winery with stunning views. I think I was most surprised by how delicious their food is. I got a margarita flatbread. And my table shared their crab Rangoon's. The wine itself was delicious. We tried a few different bottles. My only complaint was that it seemed to be understaffed as we had to go up to the bar multiple times to get service and our bottles of wine opened. read more

It all worked together, you could tell thought was put into pairing the sweet, savory, tangy, and sour all together. The 3rd course tenderloin was so savory and buttery it melted in your mouth. They picked a great cut of meat. The sweet potato souffle was almost a dessert, so good. Unfortunately they ran out of the chocolate torte, we really wanted to try it. Ended up with the cheesecake. Made 1:30 reservations for Easter brunch. Glad the weather was good as they make everyone stand outside until they're ready. Staff, particularly the manager were quite rude about it. We wanted to be seated near another group and they refused to even consider accommodating us and as it turned out the 4 tops near the group we wish to be seated with were empty (we were a 3 top). The food at the buffet was good and plentiful, otherwise this would have been a 1 star review for the ambience and experience, which was less than what we expected by wide margin. Friendly, non-condescending service and treating us liking paying guests instead of like cattle would've made the experience much better. read more

This was my second time there and I did enjoy our time. We had great fall weather and it was crowded on Sunday afternoon. Band is playing. Food selection was OK and tasted fine. Wine price definitely a lot higher than all other wineries I have been to. Most of them around $45 a bottle. Some preserved ones are as high as close to $100. I do really like the outdoor seating and the pond down to the hill. You can't do tasting at the counter, only at the table which is strange to us. We visit once in a while. read more

This Vineyard dominate in regard to service and ambience. They fill the oversized dog friendly deck overlooking a breathtaking vista with warmers in the winter and fans in the summer. With live music for the dinner seating on Wednesday nights Chandler Hill makes for a great mid week escape. Hours are limited to 11 AM to 5 PM during the week with the exception of the Wednesday night dinner seating. They have spectacular cabanas for larger parties that are available for reservation with full service on the weekends. The wait staff is consistently friendly and knowledgeable. I have grown to love our regular waiter Tommy. The menu is much bigger than any other Missouri winery I have visited, so I recommend including lunch for this winery excursion. I love the antipasto salad with grilled salmon. I also love the grilled fish tacos. They have local beers on tap by Perennial artisan ales and an extensive wine menu including other vineyards with whom they partner in Oregon and California. They've also expanded their drink menu to include high end cocktails with an extensive bourbon and whiskey selection. My husband and I came here when we visited St. Louis, and although my husband doesn't normally drink, we both enjoyed our experience. First of all, the parking lot near the top of the hill was full, so we had to park at the lower parking lot. The nice thing was that the vineyard offers a shuttle that constantly goes back and forth between parking lots; the driver was so nice, too! When we walked in, we didn't exactly know where to go because it was packed with groups of people, and 2 from bachelorette parties. A nice worker directed us outside since we wanted to sit and drink/eat, and a waitress then sat us outside at a 2-person table next to the fence near the outdoor "stage" tent area. We had the most gorgeous view of the vineyard, hills, water, and lower patio. Our seats also showed how massive the vineyard is and how many seating areas it has! We purposely visited on a Saturday afternoon since we knew there was live music. We got here as the musicians were getting ready, and OMG they were amazing. I wish I could remember the duo, and I even tried looking up the date we were there to check (July 13, 2024), but no luck finding any info. Nonetheless, they were extremely talented and played many genres of music and rocked all of them! We had good service and our waitress was nice. She was patient with me when I was unsure what I wanted, and always checked in on us throughout our visit. Foodwise, we ordered the roasted garlic hummus plate ($16) and asked for some carrots and veggies to go along with it because it's only served with pita. Thankfully we did because honestly, the pita was not very good. It tasted dry and plain. The hummus itself was pretty good, but next time, I would definitely order something else instead because I don't think the quality was worth the price. Like most vineyards, items on the menu are more on the expensive side; for example, a Reuben is $19. Just be aware of the prices before visiting. We came to Chandler Hill Vineyard on a Saturday afternoon. Live music is available from 1-5pm. Same as usual, service is attentive. What do we like at this visit? 1) The tomato basil soup is always delicious and warming. We had a cup as a side. 2) The tuna sandwich is so good. A thick cut piece of tuna goes very well with avocado slaw. The bread is soft and crunchy. Bravo! 3) My friend ordered the steak wrap. He loves that too!! For me, this has so far been the BEST winery experience in Missouri and it was just a regular weekday. They do special events which we plan on checking out. It has the look, feel, and vibe of Napa (which we regularly visit). Seemed more sophisticated and way better view than Montelle, which was the only other good experience that we've had in Missouri. We went on a Wednesday when they have live music, dinner service, half price on bottle wines, and their limited time fried chicken. There were views, decent food, and good wine. A lot of people in other reviews seem to complain about service but it was okay for us. There was no hostess which could be someone they may consider hiring. Since it was raining, we sat ourselves out on the covered patio and then the server in charge of the section came to us to get us menus and water. We tried a medley of things - crab cake, burger, fried chicken, snapper special, Brookie, and cheesecake. The fried chicken and Brookie are worth ordering again. However, their fries and sweet potato fries were great! As for wine, we did appreciate that there were more than just Missouri wines though we really liked their rosé and dry vignoles for the atmosphere - casual and fun. They have a wine club which seemed reasonable if you visit often, something we may consider after a few more visits! read more

Quiet afternoon at the vineyard on Friday around noon. Came here with two friends and there were only two other couples having lunch here. We decided on wine flights in which my friends were a fan of the Riesling and chardonnay. The only wine I was wow'ed by was the white blend. Our server was really attentive and patient with us. Great vibes for a Friday afternoon! For food I highly recommend the goat cheese, it was delicious paired with our wines! I came here for a wedding reception and it was a very beautiful layout. However I do feel like this is more appropriate very very small wedding maybe 25 people tops. The venue was very cramped and we had to sit outside with another table, there was two outside total, and it was very cold they did have heaters going but I was still wearing my jacket. The inside you could barely navigate between the tables which I am not sure is clear on the photos. The dancing was outside on the balcony of course it's November so absolutely freezing and they had a couple fire pits going but that was about it for heat. The food was served as a steak, chicken, veggies and a Caesar salad. The Caesar salad was actually delicious. The green beans they literally only gave you four strands which I thought was odd and the steak and chicken was very bland no taste and was not warm when receiving it. I think this would be a great place to catch up with friends and have a couple drinks but definitely not a wedding reception or place to hold a party. The food was AWESOME! A large group of us sat out on the patio, so that was really nice. But they had NO tables set up inside??? And after a while, I understood why. They didn't have enough wait staff. Our service was VERY slow and I got up to track something down for somebody at our table three times. Somebody had asked for mustard for their sandwich. They finished half the sandwich and still didn't have mustard. Somebody was served food, but had no silverware or napkin. We were served an appetizer, but not given the little plates to share said appetizer. It was HORRIBLE. I understand that a lot of places don't have enough workers, but maybe they need to look at backing off of the full service model until they do have enough. Definitely check out HH on Wednesdays with 1/2 off bottles, live music, but suggest coming early (5:30ish) for choice seating as it gets busy. Overall, solid 4.25+ rated experience for me; 5.0 for very attentive/friendly/smiling service (kudos to Hunter!) and patio ambience; foods were a solid 4.0 depending on the dish. Expect meal cost $15-25pp plus beverages. Note, if sitting outside in summer, I prefer a cooler evening or under an umbrella as sun can be very warm on the patio! 1/2 price Wednesday wines were reasonable, with a bottle cost around ~$20 (~$5/glass) after discount, so very affordable if sharing! Today we tried a Pinot Grigio (perfect summery sipping), California Chardonnay and a Pinot Noir. All were good and complimented our food dishes nicely. Tried the Pommes Frites combo (regular, truffle, sweet) with 3 dipping sauces (sriracha ketchup, roasted pepper aioli, marshmallow cream) to start, perfect snack to munch on with interesting flavors! They weren't as crisp as I like, but were tasty. I thought the BEST dinner was the Mushroom Marsala, creamy sauce with Rigatoni, mushrooms and shredded chicken. The Brisket burger was filling and tasty. The Mahi Mahi was good, but not as flaky a fish as i like, so next time would try another dish or the Wednesday Fried Chicken SPECIAL. Absolutely beautiful setting. Pulled up for valet and walked into the main bar area. Very large bar with full bar and their wine. We were there for a special event. Tables were professionally set up with proper distance between. The food was fantastic. They could have used an extra body at the bar but everyone I encountered was very polite and helpful. One of my go-to wineries in Defiance. The atmosphere is beautiful and had live music when we went. This winery is the only winery that I know of that has real food, too. They have indoor and outdoor, so it's great to go any time. However, my outdoor experience was nicer :) Their wine and service are okay! Convenient parking! If you are unable to find parking by the building, there is a wide range of parking at the bottom of the hill. Shuttle that comes often to drive you back and forth from the building! read more

Not very inviting for a wine tasting. Nice beer selection on draught and a few cocktails . Wines per glass ranged from $9-$12. We had a party of 6 initially with three stragglers later. We're able to get a table outside which was better atmosphere. Our party ordered from all over the menu which included appetizers( nice selection). We ordered a a poke bowl of ahi tuna with spicey sauce served with fried wontons. It was prepared well and tastey. For entrees, our orders were all over the menu of sandwiches, wraps , burgers, ( served with one side from among others fries, cranberry slaw) and salads. If gf was needed, could alternate that with all sandwiches and some of the appetizers. Food was good, portions right. I've never felt obligated to leave a review at any establishment until my experience here. We sat at a table for 30 minutes before any sort of service of water/food, even after we asked multiple staff members for help with service. Multiple tables that were sat after us were serviced and provided water/plates/cutlery and checked on multiple times before we were even checked on once. When our server did bring out our food/drinks, there was no cutlery/plates/napkins. When we did ask for cups for our water pitcher and napkins for our appetizers, we were given attitude from our server. When I asked to speak to the manager about our experience, his response was "only if you have something good to say." Wow! Incredible place. First--they have some of the best wine options in all of Augusta. They don't force you to drink Missouri wine (although it is an option). They also have a great food menu. It was my first time visiting and we were greeted with an ass of a host that said there were no tables available and we could wait "if we wanted". I asked if we could be put on a wait list and grab a drink at the bar but they do not serve drinks at the bar or have a wait list, so good luck getting a table if it's busy. If you have to park in the lower parking and shuttle up, I'd recommend not going. You will be shuttled up and not able to get a table, drink or even treated nicely. I wouldn't consider this a winery so head to the next one on your list. You won't be disappointed! read more

Chandler Hill is my favorite Winery in MO! The drive there is so scenic and relaxing. The view from the deck is amazing and the live music on Wednesdays and Saturdays always adds to the ambiance! Beautiful vineyard that offers dinner service once a week. Because of the single time per week I can get a flub like cooking my steak medium well instead of the medium rare I ordered - so we will look past that for now. The cheese sublime and goat cheese with honey and nuts was sublime. I'm still amazed we managed to eat both of those and our meals between the three of us. This is one of the nicer wineries in the Augusta/Defiance region. They actually have grapes growing on the property and the views from the deck are quite scenic. My wife and I went to see Rogers and Nienhouse and because it had been raining earlier the band had set up inside so we sat inside versus getting a table outside. The menu here is one of the best and innovative of the wineries nearby. As with all the wineries in the area, their wines are overpriced, but they do offer a list of California wines for those who prefer those to the ones made in Missouri. We ordered a bottle of Grey House 2021 Chardonnay for $43, it was very good. I ordered the Carne Asada wrap with a side of Cranberry Coleslaw. The wrap was cold which surprised me, but it was delicious. The chunks of beef in it were full of flavor and the portion size was big enough to bring half of it home for dinner. The coleslaw was good. Service was excellent and we were happy to sit inside a beautiful bar/restaurant area to enjoy the music. I hadn't visit here for a few years but used to love it. I believe there may have been a change in ownership but the changes are definitely not for the better! The entire atmosphere is different, not at all a relaxing, watching the world go by vibe. It feels chaotic, tables too close together and loud!
