Nice drive out to the Augusta are to visit Sunflower Hill Farm and it's so worth it, the grounds are beautiful and the free range chickens are so cute. They have a small store/ gift shop inside along with seating or patio seating is available. The menu is small but good options. Cubano sandwich was delicious loaded with plenty of meat and cheese. Husband liked his pulled pork and the waitstaff is so friendly.

Sunflower Hill Farm was nestled on the side of a hill between Augusta and Defiance. The setting is pretty and the outdoor patio had great views. I loved seeing their chickens free-ranging around the grounds. The food was good, but the menu is limited. I had the veggie grilled cheese and would order it again. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. They had small basil plants free for the taking. It's the perfect spot for a girl's luncheon.

This is a nice quiet spot in Augusta away from the hustle and bustle of the wineries. Staff was very friendly and there was ample parking. You do have to walk up a small hill from the parking lot. Food menu was small but everything we had was fresh and flavorful. Nice drink menu including lattes, wine and specialty lemonades.

Without everyone at Sunflower Hill Farms, our wedding would not have been as magical and perfect as it was.  Quinn, Rob and Freyja were so amazing and went above and beyond at every step.  Incredibly proactive in the days and months leading up to the wedding.  They were all a blessing the day of helping with anything and everything small and large.  We loved that it was a small family owned and run group.    We did the wedding weekend package so we got access to the (very pretty and charming) house on property the day before and after.  The bridesmaids had a fun sleepover the night before and there were plenty of rooms for everyone. Our dog is a big part of our lives and we wanted to make sure she was included in our special day. A deciding factor for us when choosing a venue was to make sure it was dog friendly. Once again, they went above and beyond to make us all feel comfortable and welcomed.   Waking up the next morning as a new MARRIED couple and looking out over our venue was a moment we'll remember forever.  Thank you for making our day as incredible as it was. We could not have asked for a more perfect experience, thanks to you all. Love, C&C

My wife and I have been taking weekend picnics all summer long. Today, after enjoying a lunch at nearby Klondike park, we took a chance and veered ofc the path home because of a sign along Highway 94. A little off the turn and over the bridge a beautiful sight is there to see. Passing a large garden and parking next to a stand of sunflowers we entered. A short walk past a beautifully landscaped path we reached the main building. We were warmly greeted and had a table on the covered patio. We were sorry that we had eaten because the menu had several things I'm looking forward to trying. We opted for a bottle of wine and sat back and relaxed. The landscaping is for butterflies to flourish in and there were hundreds fliting around. They are set up as a small cafe and a large event space. They have an outdoor wedding area set up and a 2- stores house that the bridal party can use to get ready in. We were encouraged to wander around and enjoy the views. They were spectacular. While talking with the owner she told us of upcoming events and we were able to reserve a spot at an upcoming early harvest dinner they are having. We are looking forward to many more enjoyable times here.

Beautifully designed home with views of gorgeous scenery from every window. We stayed at the Sunflower Hill Farm Estate for a family vacation. We were far enough away to disconnect but close enough to enjoy the local cuisines, shopping, and attractions. The kitchen is fully stocked with any appliance you may need while staying, but cooking isn't really needed as the cafe is in walking distance. The cafe serves the best lattes, the food is delicious (the cookies are a must have), and the staff are the most friendly people I have ever met. 10 out of 10, I highly recommend and look forward to vacationing here again.

I definitely recommend this Cafe! Very small menu but really good, great view, surrounding is very farm looking and super clean. Service is super friendly. Food is freshly made and very very tasteful. See my pics!

Just simply one of the best lunches my wife & I have ever had. Their soup of the day, cauliflower sharp cheddar cheese with shredded carrots was outstanding. Couldn't get enough of 8t so they sold us a quart of it to take home. After lunch we did the walk around the beautiful property & gardens and even fed the chickens with scraps from their kitchen. A shout out to the staff who are the most friendly & accommodating

Sunflower Hill Farm is a must visit! I took my parents when they were in town to see it and they were so impressed! The food and drinks in the cafe were delicious. I love that they cook meals with whatever they are growing in their garden at the time. The staff was incredibly friendly and more than happy to answer questions and show us around. The house and barn/event space are gorgeous! Great views from the property and flowers galore! This would be a dream wedding location. Highly suggest coming for either a bite to eat in the cafe or to book for an event. I have suggested this hidden gem to multiple friends and coworkers and they love it!

    Walk way to wedding venue.

So I decided to wake up early and try something different in north St. Louis city. It was 17 miles…read moreaway but I figured the Crown Candy Kitchen neighborhood is up and coming and I wanted to see for myself the Farmer's Market that has emerged there. The market runs every Saturday June 5th through October 16th, from 9am to 12pm. The offerings are anemic compared to mega farmer's markets elsewhere but the movement is very grass roots. Gotta hand it to these guys for setting this up. In 5 years, I think this will be a much more robust market. Interesting, is its also an avenue for their 13th street community garden that started 2 years ago. You buy from them, and in essence you support literally the community around them. This market is still in its infancy stage. I heard they have cooking demonstrations. I also saw organic home made detergent. There are local farmers supported here too. The vegetables can be ordered by "box" with an assortment packaged and ready to go. They include examples and recipes how to prepare the vegetables to offer enlightenment. The Crown Square main street was a pedestrian walkway formerly closed off roads in the back. It has just been repaved. When it reopens after 20+ years of being closed off, my guess is the traffic will help rejuvenate this area of St. Louis city over time and the Farmer's Market will grow with it. But anyhow, check out the North City Farmer's Market when you have a chance. It's off the beaten track and a good excuse to head out there. I stopped here first then went for Chicken & Waffles at Goody Goody diner on way home since it was so early in the morning. FYI: Crown Candy Kitchen doesn't open until 1030am on Saturday if you are looking for breakfast.

I really wanted to like this Farmer's Market. Unfortunately, there were just a handful of vendors…read moreselling fresh fruit, and they all just a few options. One of the vendors told me that they had a CSA share from a nearby farm, and that was what they were selling. I know that the majority of food at the other Farmer's Markets isn't actually locally grown, but the reality is that when you go shopping you wan to be able to pick up everything...and not have to make another trip to the grocery store just to get carrots or mushrooms. Someone needs to load up with some food from produce row if they want to build a following. I was meeting a group for a tour of the area and then lunch at Crown Candy, and had planned to get there a few minutes early to hit the Farmer's Market. I'm glad I didn't make a special trip...I would have been very disappointed. I almost felt bad for the vendors for the thin crowds, and bought some dill just to be supportive. I will say that no one should fear their safety shopping at the market. The owner of a nearby coffee shop told me that the owner of Crown Candy said his customers seem afraid to cross the street (it is directly across the street from the market). The block used for the market is blocked off from traffic and has been completely redone. Everything is brand new and all of the people are very friendly.
