This is our second visit to Sugar Creek Winery. Both times we have been blessed to have beautiful weather. The music was "just right"- not too loud. A little bit of blues, country, funk & classic rock & roll. Our favorite wine choice is the Chardonel. The wine attendant was super friendly. There is a full service bar available. This is dog friendly and there were some sweet pups here during our visit. We brought some light snacks to enjoy while sipping on our white wine.

If the weather was like this everyday we couldn't afford to live here, it was Laguna Beach weather of mild breezes and cool temperatures. This is an ideal setting on a hill with plenty of seating and some nice trees. It was a great day to have some cheese, crackers, salami, and wine. While I did enjoy the wine we bought for $22 a bottle I dinged them one star because $4 for three tiny and I do mean tiny samples of wine is way overpriced. The pours were so small they should have been free. They have to be getting at least thirty pours a bottle. Other than that it's a darn nice place that does allow you to bring your own snacks but nothing to drink which is totally fair.

Sampled all of their dry wines, 2 white and three red, all were pretty good, my favorites were the chardonel and Cynthiana. Expansive outdoor seating. They are also a distillery! Judgement Tree is their distillery brand. Nice place to hang out, enjoy some wine, meat, and cheese!

Came here for my birthday Tuesday with some friends and had a great time! The weather wasn't the best but we brought plenty of blankets to keep warm! Sugar creek does wine tastings $4 for 4 wines and you get to keep the wine glass. Outdoor food is welcomed! Also, they have beer and cocktails, something you don't see available at every winery. Good, cute little spot for hanging out and catching up with friends and family

And this Barrel Room Tasting experience, on the very first wine expedition I've ever hosted, stole the show. The price? Unheard of. An amazing deal. We were welcomed with sparkling wine when we arrived, then whisked away to their private cellar room, where all the small bites we'd be trying with each wine were already laid out. Our sommelier for the day was incredibly knowledgeable and kind, and he was great at teaching us about wine and the art of pairing. If you're looking for a unique wine experience in STL, you should absolutely visit.

I see they do have a shuttle but not sure how often it runs. Beautiful resturant with a nice selection of wine. We sat inside which was nice because it was humid outside. Unfortunately the flies were very worsom especially when trying to eat. That didn't stop us from having a good time though. Staff was very catering and attentive. I ordered a caesar salad with salmon which was cooked very well. The food was delicious as well as the wine. I ordered the wine flight with 3 pours. I will definitely return especially in the fall to see the beautiful colors.

Food menu has great options from buffalo dip and sweet pickles which we ordered to pizza, salads , chips etc. Wine tastings are available in different oz choices, apparel and souvenirs available for purchase. Private parking. Plenty of seating outside with patio tables included as well. My only complaint was the sun exposure. Umbrellas were tied down due to wind per staff, stated it's a liability to have umbrellas up on windy days. I wish they had another option available for outdoor seating on those days , considering a band was playing but I left early due to being uncomfortable in the heat. Here a wine tasting is provided instead of flights ($10 for 4 wine samples). The samples were just enough to get an understand of what the wines tasted like. It's a lot bigger operation than the two previous wineries that we went to. with the employees having just enough time and patience to give each customer a pour before moving on. The winery started as Montelle Vinyards in 1970, later changing to Osage Ridge Winery in 1984. In 1998, it was purchased by Augusta Winery and the name was changed to Montelle Winery. Like other wineries in the Augusta area, Montelle Winery was bought by the Hoffman Family of Companies in 2021.

The four of us shared two wine flights (3 wines each), with Chairetto, Norton, and Time Signature being our choices. The history of Balducci Vineyards traces its roots to Louis Balducci, who after immigrating to the U.S. in 1906, worked in the vineyards of California to learn the art of winemaking. After WWII, he established the Balducci Wine Company in 1946. Later in 1987, his son bought land in Augusta, MO, and began formal wine production in 2001. We wanted to get out of the city so headed 45 minutes west to the edges of St. Charles County. We stayed at an amazing AirBnB (Red Mule Ranch) and then decided to go to Cedar Lake Cellars. There are a ton of wineries in the St. Louis and Southern Illinois area. I've been to a lot of them, but had never been to Cedar Lake Cellars. It is a well known winery and event space just west of St. Louis. There are two main options for when you go. The Barrell Room is a large barn that has a mixture of beer, wine, and mixed drinks. This is the more casual of the two areas. There are large tables inside, and then an open patio area. The Barrell room doesn't have food itself, but just outside is a BBQ stand that also caters to patrons sitting outside. This is where my wife and I sat for about an hour or so before dinner. It had a lot of bachelor parties and larger groups. This area also has live music on the weekends. The second main place to eat and drink (skipping over the outdoor BBQ area) is the restaurant and tasting room. This is more of a formal dining room. The menu was modest but had a mixture of steaks, sandwiches, soups, and appetizers. The prices were very reasonable, and we very much enjoyed our food. The service was good, although maybe a bit overworked, and overall we had zero complaints. I got prime rib with two sides for around $35 which is a great deal. I was actually surprised at how reasonable the prices were. It just makes it that much easier to order a couple glasses of wine. Beyond the two main indoor/outdoor eating areas there are a number of other wedding venues on the property. There is also an stage and the venue hosts outdoor concerts. When we were there this aspect of the property wasn't being used. The overall property felt immense. It is a shame as it definitely felt like the winery could have a lot more people there than we saw, there were probably 75 tables/benches (or more) outside and only a handful had people. It could be that the heat was keeping people away, or just that wineries are declining in popularity from their peak a few years ago. Either way, we had a great time.
