The vanilla cupcake had grainy frosting where the sugar had not been properly creamed into the butter or fat and it was too sweet. It actually made me cough from how the sugar hit the back of my throat. The cake was very light, but nothing tasted like vanilla. It tasted like sugar and air. There was also entirely too much frosting for the density and size of the cupcake, and I say that as a person who usually loves frosting. The vanilla cupcake was both soft /falling apart and slightly overcooked at the same time. The red velvet was more balanced in flavor. However, it had the same sugary buttercream as the vanilla instead of the traditional cream cheese that one would expect with a red velvet cake and that frosting made it just too sugary to eat. The texture of the red velvet cupcake was better than the vanilla, though a bit too dry. She truly cared about what we wanted and I was impressed with how fun and welcoming her bakery is. It is as colorful as she is!
