Coffee flight! The Bourbon Doodle was our favorite!

My husband and I ordered the coffee flight and granola nest. We loved everything we had, but our favorite drink was hands down the Bourbon Doodle! It's a quiet, friendly establishment with quick service. We also enjoyed the exposed brick and homey ambiance.

Cool place, definitely would go back whenever I am in Washington. Service was quick and friendly The egg on my sourdough "egg toast" was perfect, with the yolk soft but not runny, and the white cheddar cheese was nice. I had a Dirty Chai, which I really loved: espresso, chai spice and steamed milk. It was just the right sweetness. The building used to house a hat factory and they have examples of them above the doorway to the restrooms, which were clean and bright, like the rest of the place. Just kind of a cool place all around, and like I said, definitely would go back again! Close to the Amtrak station and the riverfront, and in the historic area of downtown Washington.

Looking for a fun spot to meet up and chat? A cozy workspace? A lovely river view? This is the place! Even better- the coffee is great! Made with care and expert baristas to help you find the perfect brew! Even a snack or a bite is a fun hidden gem!

Such a cute little coffee shop on the riverfront in Washington! The location is perfect, and it's the perfect place to grab a coffee with a friend, especially on a nice day. We went on a cold, snowy day and it had a cute and cozy ambiance on the inside. Workers were friendly and helpful! I got the valentines coffee flight and it was fine. I wasn't super impressed but I also didn't mind it.

First time visiting Underground Espresso Bar. I had saw the option for a coffee flight online so I stopped in just for that. Unfortunately I visited in the morning and the coffee flight was all sweet drinks so I did not end up getting the flight. It would be nice to have the option to select your own drinks for the flight. I opted for an iced coffee instead, loved the taste. I'm usually an Exit 11 girl but will have to branch out to Undergrounds more often for this iced coffee. I'm giving a 4 instead of a 5 because of the associates. The cashier who rang me out was very nice & found the answers to all my questions though the other two young ladies were not being nice to her. The cashier didn't know all the answers so she was asking the other two and they were visibly annoyed with her and answered her questions with disdain, even giving each other looks when the cashier turned back around that was clearing indicating their annoyance with her. The cashier was a very nice girl and was doing the best she could, their attitudes towards her seemed unnecessary, felt very childish.

I love the ambiance of Underground's Espresso Bar. It's one of the best attributes of this place. I the vibe in this place is literally "under ground" and has plants hanging growing out of the walls, which is so cool. The decor is clean, green & spacious. Another is the service; the most recent visit here I had a wonderful worker take my order with a smile on his face and just the nicest tone in his voice. We chatted a little in between me ordering, but it made my day. Great customer service and I can see why he was hired on. Drinks are great. I haven't had a bad one. Most recent was the iced Dulce De Leche, which is brown sugar flavor, I believe? I will correct that if I am wrong. I had their chicken salad on a croissant. I just started liking chicken salad, and it was pretty good & fresh. Messy, so I had to be mindful. Also I wasn't expecting it to have so much red onion, but I did like how it added flavor. Great spot, I recommend for coffee lovers and visitors of downtown Washington!

Coffee and a breakfast item at the Undergrounds were included with our stay at River Sirens, so we went here this morning. Undergrounds is located on the riverfront, so there is a beautiful view out the window!! Half a star. It was quite crowded, so they must do something right (I just didn't experience it), so 1/2 a star for the potential. Parking is horrendous. They have their own parking lot with 5 spaces and 1 handicapped space. Needless to say, the lot was full. The larger lot right behind them is reserved for residents of the apartment complex. That left street parking and a public parking lot. Underground is located on the corner of Cedar and W Front. W Front has zero parking allowed in the block in front of the Undergrounds. Cedar has parking, but obviously, since Undergrounds is on the riverfront, Cedar only goes in one direction. There were maybe 10 parking spots in the block closest to Undergrounds, and they were all taken. It was cold, so we didn't want to walk more than a block. There was parking on one side of W Front in the next block. We found a parking place here. It's about a 5 minute walk. As pictured, you place your order by going up to the counter. They then give you a number and bring your food out. 1st, someone brought out 2 empty coffee cups. Told us where we could find cream and sugar, but those were the only directions we got. When we realized the cups were empty, my partner walked around to see if he could find the coffee. The coffee was with the cream and sugar. The coffee was ok, but it wasn't awesome. I didn't get a second cup. After a few minutes someone brought out our egg and toast breakfast. Did not look appetizing (see the picture) and it didn't taste any better. It was lukewarm at best. The egg was rubbery and the toast was soggy. It tasted exactly as I would expect it to taste if it had been pre-made and had been thrown in a microwave after we ordered. Not impressed and won't be back.

My how this place has grown! Expanded menu and seating inside and out! We get to Washington once a year and glad to see this business growing. Service was quick- support local!

This coffee shop was a godsend! My partner and I were looking for a quiet place to work and grab a bite to eat. I ended up coming here twice and got to try many of the food and beverage items on the menu. I really enjoyed all of them and thought that the coffee flight was super fun and creative. The avocado toast was delicious and beautifully plated. The owner of the coffee shop was so kind and welcoming to everyone that came through the doors. They have plenty of outdoor seating and indoor seating as well. Definitely stop by if you're in the area!

Located right next to the river, this little coffee shop was anything but little, or a coffee shop for that matter. Underground's Expresso bar has a very large menu available not only for types of coffee but also for meals, to include a wide selection of vegan, gluten free, and vegetarian options. For those of you who just enjoy a scone, muffin, or other sweet treat with your coffee, they have a wide selection of fresh baked home made options to choose from. The location has a great view to sit back and relax while enjoying your favorite cup of joe!

I LOVE Underground coffee! A friend and I check this place out as soon as it opened and have been going ever since! This place is such a vibe! It's a great place to come and grab a coffee and sit and talk with friends, study, or even work! The owner is amazing, super friendly, and always happy! They have coffee flights which we ordered and I was not disappointed! The food and coffee are amazing!

One of the best parts of the Katy Trail is you blend remote, pure nature, with surprising and fun little stops that pop up throughout the journey. We had zero idea that the KT Caboose had been taken over and was open for business, but man, we were very pleasantly surprised. Not only is it on brand, being a caboose on the former rail line, it's like it was truly made for cyclists needing a nice pit stop. Shady umbrellas, trail views, and nice restrooms make this a total win. We got some ice cream and French press coffee, two of my favorite things in the world. It was wonderful, and I want to emphasize that what I am about to say is not a typo: it was *UNDER* priced. Yes, you read that right. In an era where grocery bills seem to add +$30 every week, and my old Amazon staples have all doubled, this place was actually underpriced. I don't remember exactly but an ice cream sundae with fresh fruit, several cups of coffee, and a big ice cream waffle cone were well under ten bucks. Johnny, feel free to bump them up a bit because we want you to make enough and to stay open for many years, otherwise we'll leave continue to just leave some extra as a tip for you next time in. There aren't a ton of places on the Katy since it's so rural and spread out, but with spots like Meriweather Cafe back west in Rocheport, and this spot, they really shine bright and make an impact. Grateful to have them and can't wait to be back in on our June ride!

I enjoy Starbucks coffee and drinks for its consistency. So when I'm here on holiday visits, I come here, as it is the only decent "coffee shop" in town. Still, this location struggles to meet the standard, all at the fault of poor management. With the amount of guests it receives daily, it shouldn't be out of the question to have at least two people on the floor at all times. One for taking orders and one for making drinks. Far too often do I visit and wait upwards of 20 minutes before my drink is made, which of course is my own choosing, not the baristas fault. It is completely unfair to have one barista on the floor struggling to take orders while quickly making everyone's drinks, especially when it comes to custom modifications. Patience is one thing, sure, but whoever manages this location should reconsider their position. A big thank you to the baristas who still manage a smile during a solo rush.
