    Cinnamon Rolls

This was one of the most convenient restaurants to visit Weil paying a visit to a nursing home resident in the area. I had all of my orders to go. Ambience is casual, rural, and patriotic. There is a buffet available at certain times, but I did not try it. The cinnamon rolls are probably their best deal. For less than $14, you can get a dozen gigantic cinnamon rolls with a delicious icing. Definitely recommend it to anyone (who doesn't have diabetes). Be aware that there is a small surcharge for credit card usage.

Enjoyed our stop at this buffet in St. James, Missouri off of Interstate 44. Food was hot and tasty. The fried catfish in particular is very good. It doesn't have that catfishy flavor that it does often when prepared at other places. I even went back for seconds! The wait staff are pleasant and seem to be genuinely interested in you having a good dining experience. The place is casual and there other diners appear to be locals who support this business. Highly recommend for a lunch when on a road trip.

    Stuffed French Toast

When we first arrived it was pretty busy we walked in there was nowhere to sit that was clean but this very uncomfortable bench, now that i can get past but after already being a little irritated we waited at least 20 minutes before we even got our menu, after getting our menu and waiting another at least 10 minutes just for them to ask what we wanted to drink in a very disrespectful manner, We finally ordered after waiting at least 30 minutes our food arrived I got the stuffed French toast, eggs, ham and my boyfriend got pancakes, eggs and bacon the food was amazing. I can say the stuffed French toast was the best French toast I've ever had. I do wanna say that a waitress that was already running circles around the waitress that had at our table she seen that we were put on the back burner and not 5 minutes later she was handing us our food.

Not a bad bill for 2 people for lunch.

First time I visited and I was impressed. Saturday afternoon and the place was packed. There's different seating areas and you seat yourself. The decor was midwestern casual. Our waitress Candyce was there in seconds with menus and had our drinks to us about 60 seconds after we sat down. Theres a buffet that seems really popular. And it appeared that most of the customers were locals. The menu was pretty big. I got a patty melt and my wife some french toast. Candyce said the kitchen was slammed since the place was at capacity so the food might be delayed a little bit. She offered us the buffet as a substitute, but since we weren't in a hurry we decided to wait. The wait wasn't that long. My wife's French toast was perfect, not rubbery like a lot of places that make batches of French toast at 5am and just warm them up. She could tell it was made fresh minutes before she ate it. My patty melt was hot & savory. I believe 2 types of cheese, and fresh toasted rye bread. My only complaint is that it was more of a cheeseburger patty. About an inch thick. I'm used to patty melts having a more thin, smashed patty. But it was still delicious. Now the impressive part was Candyce serving food, refilling drinks, taking orders, cleaning tables. She was even running the floor sweeper. Truly an impressive display of waitressing. Can't wait to go back.

Homemade meatloaf with Mashed potatoes and gravy with a roll and a side of cottage cheese.

This local establishment deserves a visit. I would be surprised if you weren't happy with your meal. I am a truck driver and food like this isn't available very often on the road. I am so glad I stopped. They even let me park out back for the night. Again, very rare for places to be so accommodating. I ordered the homemade meatloaf with mashed potatoes and cottage cheese. The meatloaf was just like advertised "homemade"; tasted just like my grandmas. The mashed potatoes were plenty and with a little salt, pepper, & butter they taste just like my moms on Thanksgiving. The service was absolutely exceptional and beyond anything I expect on the road. My old waitress was so friendly and helpful, I felt like I was at a family members house to eat. And the rest of the staff are always asking if everything is okay and if I need anything else. I could not have felt more at home. This place is just what I needed in times like this. For a trucker who has been missing home; this place filled my heart with love and tummy with food. I hope you all enjoy this place as much as I have.

Delicious! Go now if you are looking for a mom and pop greasy spoon. They serve breakfast all day and it was delightful and perfectly prepared. I had the biscuits and gravy, crispy hashbrowns, and sausage patties. My husband had a mushroom burger and fried mushrooms. The burger was huge. We didn't bother eating the potato chips it came with. We drove over an hour to eat here based on the yelp reviews. We are out camping and were looking for a restaurant that had something for everyone and Country Bob's is exactly that. There is a Buffet that looks absolutely delightful but because it's still Covid we did not eat inside, we took carry out. We will visit again and look forward to that fried chicken on the buffet!

The ham plate and the biscuit and gravy plate and the stuffed French toast. All three of these were amazing. Staff was great to.

The building is set back off the road a little ways sitting stately on top of a hill. The property is absolutely gorgeous. The parking lot a little dicey. Most of the patrons park to the right of the building on gravel. There are a few paved handicap parking spots in front of the building. Inside the building, the dining room and bar area are massive, accommodating a large number of guests. The decor is relatively clean and simple. I was seated at a cozy table and waited for my server. Nicole provided exceptional service. She was knowledgeable and attentive making my experience all the more enjoyable. I started my evening with a seasonal cocktail from the extensive drink menu. I always check out a menu prior to any dining experience. I knew the whipped feta dip and marinated olives were an absolute must. The cheese is sourced from a local Missouri farm. As are a large number of items served in the restaurant. I prefer to support local and small businesses when I can. This gave me an opportunity to support several all at one. The olives were a mix of black and green served warm with roasted garlic. I have never had olives served warm and will insist on it from now on. The flavors were phenomenal. The dish was generously portioned and enough to share with a small group. Or just for yourself like I did. I really couldn't choose between the entrees. Looking around at other patron's meals, I knew I wouldn't be disappointed with anything on the menu. I opted for a Cesar salad with grilled shrimp. I can't think of a time in recent memory when I've had a salad this good. Crisp romaine lettuce, fried capers, fresh breadcrumbs, and a luxurious dressing. (The salad is served with red onions which I very politely set aside as I do not enjoy raw onions.) The shrimp were the perfect combination juicy and flavorful. I finished the entire thing. I would have been remiss to not try a glass or two of wine during my visit. I decided a glass of rose' would be a good note to end my meal on. The wine is amazing, bright and crisp with notes of citrus. I picked up a couple of bottles to take home. I'm looking forward to sharing this find with my friends. I ordered a piece of the bread pudding to go. This was delicious and was a perfect treat later in my evening. I had a very enjoyable experience. The service was excellent and friendly. The food delicious from start to finish. The wine and cocktails paired well with the menu offerings. The cozy atmosphere made this a perfect evening.

The restaurant is just next door to the winery. The food is largely German inspired. This could make it a bit hit or miss with some patrons. We ended up getting appetizers, salads, and soup. It is very romantic and extremely picturesque. Make sure you check my review on the Winery to see the rest of the photos. The service and the food. This place, though it isn't indicated anywhere, stopped seating after lunchtime and took a break between 2 pm and 4 pm. They weren't kicking diners out, but also wouldn't seat anyone till 4. This is a bit of a shock for those just trying to get a late lunch and missed the 2 pm deadline by a few minutes. There is no other close option for snacks or something of the like. And unfortunately, the attitude was very much of a... "well, sorry that you weren't prepared!" We almost didn't return, but we wanted a specific item off the menu. And to rate this place! (Just dropped my rating to 3 stars from 4 as I think of this. When we did return in time for dinner, the same person who didn't recognize us at all cheerfully greeted and seated us. The waitress was very good and knew her stuff. Even so far as to suggest a specific wine with my dinner when asked. The food - This is the main thing that lost a star. It was OK. I chose the German Trio, thinking of getting a little of everything. And, I did. However, when it says smaller portions (see menu picture), they mean it! There was a smallish brat, an incredibly small and overcooked piece of schnitzel (pictured), and lastly some overcooked pork with a sauce all over it. I believe they get away with serving this kind of food for several reasons. a.) The sauce is amazing! And yes, it is on lots of the food or on the side as you wish. b.) The winery has a trolley that runs to it. So many visitors are "trapped" till it returns, so a place to eat makes sense. Also, the place's main concern is wine. The average customer is at least lightly sauced and will view this as the best meal ever because they are going to remember the sauce! Those of you who typically read my reviews often times know that I give each venue the benefit of a doubt and will go eat at them a few times to ensure it wasn't just a fluke. But not this time. I found nothing extremely redeeming other than the convenience of eating right after drinking a bunch of wine. This place touts itself as one of the premier, old school, and fancy restaurants in Hermann. It is not. Pick one of the others and have a better meal.
