Visited them on a Friday around lunchtime and they were really busy. We both ordered breakfast. I ordered their one egg, one meat, 1 toast and hash brown meal. Which was ample amount of food for a low price of 4.60. Husband ordered a larger meal that was almost too much for him to eat. My only complaint was location of our seats right by kitchen, with clanging, fans, very noisy and did take away from the experience. Left wanting to finish meal quickly. The servers were very attentive with coffee and water and meal arrived hot. The interior is basic locals diner, for the price it's well worth a visit. read more

Rick's Kitchen is absolutely delicious!!! I ordered the chicken and waffles which is a favorite of mine whenever I see it on a menu. The 2 boneless thighs were crispy and juicy. Rick's Kitchen is a small, family-owned business that recently expanded from Arizona Market Place to a building of its own on Frontage Road. I wish I discovered them months ago when we first moved to Yuma; that would have saved us a lot of time! For the past several months, my fiancée and I have fruitlessly sought the best breakfast in Yuma. Coming from Phoenix and being ex-Californians, we charged Yuma with a difficult task -- to impress us with their food. We'd finally given up altogether, until earlier last month, when I noticed Rick's while driving down the 8. I thought it looked like a nice hole-in-the-wall spot, so I suggested we visit on Easter morning. When we arrived, we were immediately greeted and seated by friendly staff. Our server, Capt. Morgan (drink responsibly, my friends) placed our order expediently. Although my omelet didn't blow me away, it was by far the best one I've tried in Yuma. I was happier with the coffee; it was a medium-roast blend that reminded me of my favorite hometown diner. My fiancée tried The Allen Breakfast (two poached eggs, bacon, tomato, avocado, and toast). It was a filling and flavorful meal. We paid by card and were on our way; that's when we realized we forgot to tip! I don't carry cash these days, so it completely slipped my mind. Of course, that wouldn't do, and I went to rectify the situation two days later by coming back for another breakfast -- with cash. This time, I tried the 2x2x2 (2 eggs, 2 pancakes, and 2 slices of bacon). I liked this breakfast even more than the first; the buttery, crisp-round-the-edges pancakes reminded me of Sunday breakfast with my family. The coffee and service were perfect yet again. Overall, it was a great morning. We've only got a few more months in Yuma, and had it not been for Rick's, I would've thought that breakfast was too tall an order for this small town. I'm happy to have been proven wrong. I'd encourage locals and travelers alike to give Rick's a shot for a meal and a good cup of coffee. We'll be back soon. We just finished eating breakfast at Rick's Kitchen in the foothills. It was really good! This little restaurant just had their grand opening yesterday for this location. It's right on Frontage Rd, easy to find with plenty of parking in front of the building and the lot behind as well. The inside is clean and the staff was all super friendly. It's not always easy dining out with a toddler, but they have great high chairs and the wait staff was all very helpful in keeping him entertained with giving us crackers for him and checking on us plenty. Also, the food came out quickly, so that's always a bonus! I ordered the Belgian waffle with bacon and an extra side of 2 scrambled eggs, plus coffee. The coffee was fresh and the eggs and bacon were delicious! Cooked perfectly! The waffle was good, but it was a little crunchier than I would typically prefer. I was THISSS CLOSE to ordering the pancake 2+2+2 meal and wish I had. Next time!!! The lunch menu looks phenomenal and I can't wait to come back. Not to mention my entire meal (plus the milk for my son!) cost maybe around $12 or so without tip. So reasonable! You honestly need to come try this place soon! read more

Oh my! New place in the Foothills & it's delicious! Today was the first time we tried it & this will be our go to place for breakfast! We both had the Gravy Boat, Egg, biscuit & hash browns smothered in the best gravy, served with bacon or sausage. We had bacon & it was so crisp & flavorful. The coffee was great too! Like homemade but I didn't have to cook! Yippee!! We were greeted right away & was asked to sit where you would like. Sherli (Ricks wife) was our server. Her service was prompt with menus & what drinks we would like. Our orders were taken & food was served quickly. Dave was also a server & they are all like family. Talked with Rick & bragged on the food & promptness. The place is clean & welcoming. A feel good diner with great workers & yummy food! We will be back! Give them a try. Let's start with the good. Excellent service. Really attentive, friendly waitress - she's a real star!! The BAD: The "Mega" breakfast was 1 piece of bacon, 1 piece of sausage, 2 eggs and a small portion of hash browns and toast. Price? Too much for such small portions on the "Mega" meal. $72+ tip for 4 meals isn't cheap. The REALLY BAD: Shortly after eating there (an hour), both my wife and I experienced severe stomach cramping and intestinal distress. The food we ate in common was the thin sausage patty, possibly the strawberries or apple juice which we also shared . Both our stomachs still are upset and it's pretty obvious there is something not right from that food we ate. All things being equal, this place is probably comparable to a Denny's - but at Rick's Kitchen the prices are higher and much smaller portons. Really not sure why folks like this place as far as food goes, it's not especially good or plentiful or cheap - but it is close to the Foothills and probably just convenient. read more

St Patrick day I called to see if Rick's had corned beef and cabbage at 415pm. A very nice lady said yes they did but when we got there at 445p 3 tables were taken. We sat and ordered the corned beef and cabbage but were told they were all out. When I told the server I had just called she said we had a big rush. Obvious lie but creative. I ordered a Reuben sandwich and got scraps of corned beef covered with a copious amount of sauerkraut. My husband had liver and onions and granddaughter had a burger which she enjoyed. O.M.G. Burger. No, it's not one of their menu selections. It's an experience. Yanno, like picking up your to-go burger and thinking that there might be a small animal inside the styrofoam box. Heavy. What an experience! We had to drive 180+ miles to have this experience, and I'd probably crawl uphill in snow both ways for this culinary delight. Perfectly cooked, opening the lid to the box was enough to get my salivary glands jumping for joy in anticipation! Well, maybe I'm exaggerating just a bit, but not much. Everything about this said "We're your people here! Hurry back!" before my first bite. The first bite made me want to spike the ball if I was carrying one. WOW! A great hamburger! This Rick might have visited Sammies in Prescott or Archies in Reno to steal recipes and how-to secrets... or maybe they stole his. Yes, Rick's makes a great hamburger. Certainly one of the best hamburgers in southwestern Arizona, maybe even in all of Arizona. I'd have to transporter to compare the burgers side-by-side to tell who's is best... maybe even give Archie's a run for their money. Never got to the fries (or were they tater tots?)... I couldn't finish the hamburger. Maybe I might "find" something wrong with my vehicle to justify the return trip to Yuma. Great service... some of the staff are real comedians: "You want some pie with that burger?" Seriously? On the surface, you might think that Rick's is small business, maybe a auto parts store... judging by the vehicles filling the front parking lot, the back parking lot, the shoulders of the road on both sides of Frontage Road. This place makes the perfect breakfast. The gravy had the most perfect flavor. The perfect amount of sausage bits with just q hint of sage. The best gravy I have ever tasted.
