Loved this restaurant as it was nicely laid out with lots of seating. They even had yummy pies to make you start thinking of dessert. The menu is amazing. There are lots of great food items and most items are available no matter the time of day except for the baked potato, of course. We were seated right away, received menus and our drinks. We ate here about 3 years ago and I'm happy to announce the food is still good! We ordered a house salad, calamari, and fish and chips. Everything was cooked perfectly! I love the seasoned fries, and the fish was crispy with the coating staying in tact. Our server, Michelle, was prompt and conscientious. She didn't forget a thing and checked on us frequently without being annoying. I also enjoyed the 70s style background music, which was kept at a moderate level. My brother has dairy allergy & they have always been helpful in accommodating him. Went for breakfast. Menu clearly states "add our cinnamon coffee cake for $3". Sounded good so took them up on the offer. When reviewing bill I was charged $6.00. Upon reviewing the bill with obnoxious young female at cash register, she said NO $6.00. When questioned further and actually reading offer directly from their own printed menu which she would not look at it when I offered, she absolutely stood her ground and then said the menu is worded incorrectly. Another waitress came up and young girl tried to get her to back her up. The other waitress read the menu and then said she understands what I am talking about. Young girl says it's a mistake, $6.00! Today's meals were BAD. I had meatloaf with brown gravy. I've never had meatloaf cut so thin. It was way to salty and the gravy was worse. Do not, I repeat, not order this. I also had split pea soup it was okay. My husband had chicken fried steak. Worst he's ever had, the breading was crispy and about a half an inch thick on both sides while the steak was about a quarter inch thick, grisly and flavorless. So all in all we paid $46 with tip for lettuce (salad) and french fries. Their breakfasts are normally pretty good. This place seems very run down and they also charge you extra for using a card which is just trash. I ordered biscuits and gravy, the bread was huge and not tasty by itself and they do not give you enough gravy to accommodate the amount of bread. My husband ordered the breakfast burrito and the size was not at all compared to what you could get an another restaurant, but taste was good. A group of 10 of us decided to go to Daybreakers around 11:30 a.m. The parking can be a little crazy because the restaurant shares an entrance to the gas station/truck stop. You definitely need to be on your toes for traffic moving in and out of the area! Don't let the parking lot fool you into believing that the restaurant is too full! Surprising enough, they were able to seat all of us together pretty quickly! Our server, Denise, was like the Energizer Bunny. She was on the move like butter on hot pancakes! I had arrived 15 minutes later than the rest of the group and they had already ordered. Denise was quick to get my order taken. So quick, in fact, that my meal arrived with everybody else's! I ordered the BLT, sweet potato fries and a sweet tea. My bacon was cooked as crispy as I had asked that they cook it! I thoroughly enjoyed my piping hot fries and my sweet tea was perfect. Not too sweet but sweet enough. I was lucky enough to get to dig my fork into a piece of my friend's coffee cake that was slathered in butter. OMG it was DELISH! If I had more room in my belly, I would have ordered my own slice. Speaking of which, sharing is definitely possible and suggested, as the piece is HUGE! Not one of us had any issues with our meals and we weren't subjected to the automatic gratuity either! (Honestly, she probably made more in tips by NOT doing it that way!) The restroom was clean. I know they did some remodeling up front since I was there last and the area that has been remodeled looks great! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that I think they need to give the dining room areas a good DEEP cleaning and freshen things up. It is so dark and gloomy in there that I think they keep it that way so you don't see how rundown it really is. Definitely would consider Daybreakers for more group gatherings!
