Almost drove by the Flying J here that has this restaurant off to the side. Lol the flying J sign is black with the sun!!! So we parked our trk n trl got showers and walked over here. It's busy at 9 on Monday surprisingly. Waitress is older but very friendly. She's done this before. I ordered the knockwurst eggs special with homefries ( onion and peppers) sounds yummy. Bf ordered pork chops n eggs and same potato's. Wow when the pork chops came out ... omg...2 huge chops.. dinner size! I had to help him a bit and a bone for the doggie. My wurst was fantastic also. A bit of German in me there. They cross cut the wurst and grilled it on the grill. So tasty. We will be back. The waitress talked with us about the east coast and Rhode Island where she is from. A group of 10 of us decided to go to Daybreakers around 11:30 a.m. The parking can be a little crazy because the restaurant shares an entrance to the gas station/truck stop. You definitely need to be on your toes for traffic moving in and out of the area! Don't let the parking lot fool you into believing that the restaurant is too full! Surprising enough, they were able to seat all of us together pretty quickly! Our server, Denise, was like the Energizer Bunny. She was on the move like butter on hot pancakes! I had arrived 15 minutes later than the rest of the group and they had already ordered. Denise was quick to get my order taken. So quick, in fact, that my meal arrived with everybody else's! I ordered the BLT, sweet potato fries and a sweet tea. My bacon was cooked as crispy as I had asked that they cook it! I thoroughly enjoyed my piping hot fries and my sweet tea was perfect. Not too sweet but sweet enough. I was lucky enough to get to dig my fork into a piece of my friend's coffee cake that was slathered in butter. OMG it was DELISH! If I had more room in my belly, I would have ordered my own slice. Speaking of which, sharing is definitely possible and suggested, as the piece is HUGE! Not one of us had any issues with our meals and we weren't subjected to the automatic gratuity either! (Honestly, she probably made more in tips by NOT doing it that way!) The restroom was clean. I know they did some remodeling up front since I was there last and the area that has been remodeled looks great! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that I think they need to give the dining room areas a good DEEP cleaning and freshen things up. It is so dark and gloomy in there that I think they keep it that way so you don't see how rundown it really is. Definitely would consider Daybreakers for more group gatherings! The waitress told us they ran out of hamburgers (!) so I opted for a patty melt. Interestingly, this is simply a much larger, hand made hamburger patty. It tasted fine. Stopped by for brunch and was pleasantly surprised. Upon entering they have a small Thrifty ice cream section and pies. We got seated and ordered our food, Carol was our waiter and was very friendly! I've been to this place twice and both times it was not very busy and the waitresses always act like they're overwhelmed. The food is less than mediocre. It's simply just comfort food with no seasoning whatsoever very bland, and the last time I asked for a Monterey Jack cheese omelette with bacon and I got a three cheese omelette that had a couple of specs of bacon in it. We stopped in for lunch today and Carol was our waitress. My husband and I both ordered burgers and they were absolutely delicious! They are made by hand and are cooked to order. Try the Burger Basket special if you're on on a Monday or Wednesday. Carol also told us all about the homemade pies and cakes. Yummy! We have been going to this location for over twenty years, it wasn't always named Daybreakers! The food has always been good and worth us eating there about twice a month and they did not let us down this time! However, prices have increased exponentially!! Chicken fried steak for breakfast nearly $17.00, coffee $2.45- this is a truck stop and again I say the food is worth the stop, but truckers (i was one) unless they are independently wealthy look for good food at a "decent" price! Fast food gets old quickly and a good hot meal at a "decent" price is surely appreciated and a must stop next time passing thru! read more

I had lunch here with a friend. Decided to try their California Omelette. It has bacon, tomato, avocado, and cheese. I excluded the tomatoes. When my omelette arrived, I was told they were out of avocado. I wish they would have told me that before they began cooking it. I would have substituted mushrooms or maybe picked something else. What can I say? It's a trucker's diner with amazing, greasy, delicious breakfast food. Evidently, they have quite an eclectic crowd for karaoke too, but I've not been for that. The mark of a good breakfast spot is seeing every kind of person there. You'll see old, young, loners, and families. People will go after church, people will go late at night, or hungover. We usually go for breakfast & share the Chicken Fried Steak with eggs, hash browns & we have biscuit & gravy instead of toast! It's plenty for two! They aren't bashful on their portions!
