Almost drove by the Flying J here that has this restaurant off to the side. Lol the flying J sign is black with the sun!!! So we parked our trk n trl got showers and walked over here. It's busy at 9 on Monday surprisingly. Waitress is older but very friendly. She's done this before. I ordered the knockwurst eggs special with homefries ( onion and peppers) sounds yummy. Bf ordered pork chops n eggs and same potato's. Wow when the pork chops came out ... omg...2 huge chops.. dinner size! I had to help him a bit and a bone for the doggie. My wurst was fantastic also. I've been to this place twice and both times it was not very busy and the waitresses always act like they're overwhelmed. The food is less than mediocre. It's simply just comfort food with no seasoning whatsoever very bland, and the last time I asked for a Monterey Jack cheese omelette with bacon and I got a three cheese omelette that had a couple of specs of bacon in it. We stopped in for lunch today and Carol was our waitress. My husband and I both ordered burgers and they were absolutely delicious! They are made by hand and are cooked to order. Try the Burger Basket special if you're on on a Monday or Wednesday. Carol also told us all about the homemade pies and cakes. Yummy! The food has always been good and worth us eating there about twice a month and they did not let us down this time! However, prices have increased exponentially!! Chicken fried steak for breakfast nearly $17.00, coffee $2.45- this is a truck stop and again I say the food is worth the stop, but truckers (i was one) unless they are independently wealthy look for good food at a "decent" price! What a complete embarrassment to a cafe. My friend ordered a BLT but looked like an LT. There was two thin strips of bacon, a huge slice off the end of a tomato and old slimy lettuce. On top of that the service was just horrible. The waitress looked like she had been drinking vodka and smoking cigarettes all morning. Short and sweet on this one... BEST damn blueberry pie I've had at any diner across the country. The cinnamon bun was fluffy and the freshly whipped butter made it heavenly. The coffee cake was on point with a light crisp on the outside but moist and a dollop of that real cream butter on top made it worth a stop here in the middle of nowhere USA. I also had the open faced hot turkey sandwich and mashed potatoes... it wasn't that great but was average. Terrible food and service to match. Our server was so cranky and rude. We had a party of four. We asked for water and they brought one glass, not four. We asked for water for all of us and they brought one more glass. Oh come on. Seriously. We finally got four waters. The salads were ok. The steaks were hit and miss. Three of us got steak. Two of the steaks were just ok but the third one was so tough you couldn't even cut it with a steak knife. Another customer wanted music and wanted it loud. So the server did just that. The music was so loud that you couldn't carry on a conversation. The coconut cream pie tasted like a frozen box type pie. No refills on water. Our server was terrible and so was the food.
