Stopped by for an early dinner walked in and we were surprised by how cool the interior was. Sat quickly and got our drinks and appetizers to the table everything was great . The Guacamole was amazing. Service was spot on quick but not intrusive. We were there at happy hour and the prices were very reasonable. We will be back before the end of the season. read more

Driving home from San Diego we decided to stop here for dinner around 7pm after reading several good reviews. We were promptly seated and then the wait began. We waited for a long time to place our order. Then we waited for over an hour for the food to come out. The owner came by and checked on us and we complained about never getting our food and then the food came out cold. It was an awful experience. Then on top of that they never would bring us the bill and then we had to go up to the counter to ask for it and pay. The owner offered us a free dessert for compensation many times and we finally accepted and ended up waiting for that and leaving before we ever saw it. We didn't get out until after 9pm and then ended up getting a flat tire right outside Yuma on the way back to Phoenix. Will not go here again. read more

Updating after our second visit to Takos and Beer - everything I said before stands. I still loved their chips, and now I can tell you that BOTH the Carne Asado AND Carne Pollo tacos are delish! The hubs ordered the Chile Relleno taco and thought it tasted fine, just that the skin on the chile was quite tough and needed a knife to make this way through it. They were busy and our waitress didn't make it back before it lost it's heat, but he still enjoyed the flavor. We'll definitely be back! read more

This was my first time in the new location! The inside is amazing and the patio looks like a good time, however, with summer approaching I'd consider some shade and/or misters. The food is the same menu with a few differences. We had the machaca and eggs, pozole and egg and ham burrito. The machaca and eggs was good but I'd probably plate it a little different as the machaca was a little soggy so something underneath it would be a good idea. The pozole was plain and needed spicing up and there was more solids than soup. The egg and ham burrito was plain and unseasoned. The bartender was great at suggesting a cocktail based off preference and the drinks did not disappoint. Overall I think there's def some tweaks but I wouldn't be opposed to coming again. read more

Stopped on our way through Yuma and enjoyed our meals. They understood the assignment when I asked if we could get toddler's food quickly, which is always appreciated! Stopped here going through Yuma it's a newly remodeled that was fast food spot, still handy with a functional drive thru actually too. The vibe inside is def not what I was expecting, had a resort-bar kind of feel and was cool with TVs available to watch some games also. They have moved to this new place since the last time I was here which also is a drive thru as well. I sat inside and the service was perfect. Cold beer, food came out fresh and hot and had a great presentation to it as well which adds to it. The food and flavors always comes together in perfection and some of my favorite takos you'll find away from the everyday ordinary same ole same ole. Great spot. The building has a fun local bar atmosphere and Reggaeton music. Lots of fun drink selections including a Margarita Flight. We ordered a few appetizers, multiple tacos, plus Tres Leches and churros for dessert. The chips and guacamole were ok--chips are a bit thick and corny for my preference. Our Birria was not the version with queso and consume which was a disappointment, but all other tacos were good. Tres Leches was fantastic. Service is fast and friendly. A solid lunch choice. We got there before the rush and our food took forever. We only ordered a salad and 2 eggs with bacon & potatoes. We waited a long time. They spilled salsa on my eggs ( can't have salsa, I have an allergy) my husband came for menudo but they "don't serve it in the summer" . They did remake my eggs but it again took forever and by the time they showed up my potatoes and very already sad looking bacon were cold. We came here because we had a "buy an entree and get a free breakfast entree" coupon but at the end it only took off $10 and not the $13 that the breakfast entree was. I'm giving this place 3 stars because my past visits have been 5 stars. Today's however were at best a 1 star. We arrived well before closing ordered food and drinks (not busy in the least). The drinks took forever to come and only after getting those we got water. Appetizer arrived pretty quickly chorizo cheese and bean dip and it was cold and flavorless. Next came the main course. Tacos which is their specialty... I ordered 2 Pastor Tacos both were sparse on meat which was cold and old. Also lacking flavor. Other diner ordered 2 tacos as well, received 3 and the server removed the 3rd taco. The 1500 she ordered and liked the other one she did not like. While eating my meal I awaited my main course the Mayan Sandwich.... And waited and waited never to receive it. Waitress only found out about the missing dish when she returned at the end of the meal never checking on us during the meal. Needless to say not on our list of places to rush back to. read more

We have visitors from Surprise this weekend, so decided to take then to Takos and Beer. We'd been there once before and enjoyed it. Why isn't it busier? Last night the food and drinks were great. I can't remember for sure what everyone had, but I had the Trio of Tacos. Even the rice and beans were good and I usually don't eat those. Our server was was great. Her name is Layla. I was so impressed with this place in so many ways. From the outside, it looks like your average taco joint. Inside is trendy and fun with great taco options and super friendly staff. I went for the veggie taco and cauliflower tacos and they were wonderfully on par. Texture, flavor, presentation. It's hard to find a well put together veg street tacos that actually have thought to them. Especially on the border. We started with the guacamole and chips, which did not disappoint, talk about presentation! I mean whoever thought you could make chips and guacamole... classy? It was SO good... My husband and I had the pleasure of eating here when passing by Yuma. From the outside it looks like it would be fast food place, but from the inside it was a nice small family restaurant setting. We started with some chips, guacamole and cheese topped with chorizo. The basket of chips were so awesome, never change those! Authentic, crispy, casero... so awesome! The guacamole seemed like a day old, but it was still yummy. Topped with pomegranate and queso fresco made it tasty, and unique. The queso dip with the meaty chorizo... FIRE! Flavor & satisfying! I ordered different tacos, all were tasty, but unfortunately a lil cold. Carne asada, pastor, and another taco that I can't recall the name, but it had a purple tortilla - hard shell. The presentation was great. Flavor was poppin' just not warm at all. I was expecting some salsa/s with the different tacos I ordered, but none came with mine and sadly none were offered. Hubby ordered the Mayan sandwich. The pork belly seemed a lil over cooked, pork meat was great, but that piece of ham in it was off. Over cooked, and out of place. I honestly thought it would be a real slice of ham meat, not a piece of packaged ham. Nonetheless, I'm merely being descriptive...all in all the flavors were unique to my Mexican-American culture palate. People there were smiling, laughing and ohh the drinks were awesome, I had the suggested Paloma. It was refreshing. We will definitely return, hoping to get a plate next time! Fajitas al Pastor. The pork was crunchy bits of greasy sadness. Peppers and onions were greasy. No sizzle from the platter when brought to the table. So much oil you could drain it off the platter. Corn tortillas were ok but a tad bit greasy. Someone forgot to cook the flour tortillas. They fell apart when I tried to make a taco. No hot sauce offered. No guac or sour cream. Had to ask for the rice and beans. Server told us she never eats there. Server talked to someone through her headset in the middle of taking our order. Great find in Yuma on our way back to San Diego! Good service and plenty of seating options (table, booth, bar, outdoor patio). Place was simple and clean. Guacamole Appetizer: Big portions, chips were a little thick but crispy. Comes with the guac and 2 salsas. Guac has cheese and pomegranate seeds which added nice texture. We liked the green salsa as well. Tacos: Tried the fish, carne asada, and Al pastor tacos. They were street taco size. I liked them in the order listed. Fish was crispy and flavorful - you could actually taste the beer! The carne asada was good - not too fatty or dry. We found this little gem of a restaurant via Yelp reviews. We were traveling home to San Diego, had a short overnight stay in Yuma and decided to give Takos and Beer a try. As previous reviewers had said do not let the outside of the building deter you from going inside. Once inside, it has a casual, chill sports-pub vibe. Several tv screens with 1 Giant screen were hung throughout the restaurant. We were greeted with smiles and led to our table. Clarissa was our server and boy did we keep her busy. We started by ordering the 4th Ave Chicken Wings, with a mango/habanero sauce topped with a fresh mango salasa and a balsamic reduction. I can say that all 3 of us were in agreement that these were the absolute best wings we have ever eaten. Spicy, fresh, sweet, moist so SO good!!! They were so tasty we placed a second order, LOL. In addition to the wings, we thoroughly enjoyed the Corona beer battered gator tacos, the Pulpo a la plancha (squid) taco and the 1500 BC taco... all outstanding! We also ordered the House Tako Salad with carne asada and the Tako Chicken Bowl, both with very fresh and tasty! My hubby made a statement that he will make the 2.5 hour drive from San Diego to bring a group of friends to enjoy Tako's food. We will definitely be back. I felt so bad, so I said everything was good because of my anxiety. My husband and I tried the fish tacos and were disappointed. They needed salt, and just lacked a good flavor. Their other tacos might be good, but we just had fish and shrimp tacos because of lent. The Tres Leches cake.... dry. Tasted like it was left out. All in all -and this might be obvious- I just wouldn't come back here. I know if you want GOOD fish tacos you're better off going to a mariscos spot, but I feel like if the standard is "tacos" they should not have fallen short. Staff was really nice, but she forgot my drink and a couple items we requested.. but I get it. They're surprisingly busy. The ambiance was cute. I really wanted to give them 5 stars. :( I'm sorry if the review seems mean but I can't lie to customers willing to spend their money here.
