3 Aug. The ambiance is nice, quaint quiet and smelled wonderful(something was cooking) for the most part, with TV on in the cantina area. The waitress was awesome. We took our time and weren't rushed. Forgot to get her name, but she was absolutely wonderful. Same birthday month as I, and that was a plus Served chips and salsa. Salsa was amazing! Was getting my work truck fixed this place was right across the street. Nice little place looks small from the outside but it's got plenty of room inside. You can eat outside also. They had chilaquiles on the menu so that's usually my go to. They were ok, they come with a side potatoes, beans and eggs. They have a medium salsa and a hot one. I chose the medium. Always love food here at Durons! I've enjoyed the Chimichanga, (see photo)and breakfast is always yummy! I happened to show up for lunch on Tuesday and with their Taco special on my mind, I was excited to try the Carnitas and the Carne Asada. When the waitress asked me if I wanted everything on the taco, I said yes , however, I should've asked more specific questions about what would be on top. The fresh vegetable mixture, contained chopped jalapeños, which for me put the heat index a little high. I removed most of what I could that had that familiar dark green. There was a good ammount of meat which was flavorful. The Carne Asada was a little chewy but the Carnita were perfect! I wanted to order some tamales to go, but apparently they don't serve them at that restaurant. This kind of surprised me anyway Durons is always a good consistent lunch. Lots of Locals on weekdays! I was just glad to learn that I'm not particularly a fan of their tacos. read more

What are they putting in their Mi Hefita's enchiladas? I can't get enough of them. lol Had lunch here again yesterday. Will probably have dinner here tonight. Clearly, I have some kind of problem that borders on a mild addiction to their food? I was raised on Mexican food in Texas. Not that chain-food crap that masquerades as Mexican food or Tex-Mex, but the kind of family restaurant where you walk in and see the Matron of the family making handmade corn tortillas. As a 3-year-old, this was MAJIC to me. So delicious...served fresh, soft, and warm, with pats of butter on the side. I digress... I had chicken added to my Mi Hefita's lunch plate today, and it was a nice addition, mostly dark meat, which I (oddly) prefer. I believe the lunch portion was just under $18 with tax. As usual, I forgot to take a photo because when I'm here, I never think of it until after the entire meal is gone. lol Sorry, I know that's not helpful. I notice the portions are smaller now than they were 4-8 months ago, before food prices skyrocketed. With prices having soared as high as they have, I can't fault them for cutting back. We can ALL see how outrageous food prices have become, and it's no different for restaurant owners. It saddens me a little that I don't leftovers anymore. However, I'll get thin again, like I was before the pandemic. That's not a bad thing. read more

Very good food. I had biscuits and gravy and a side of crisp bacon. Both were very tasty and filling. My wife had two folded chicken tacos. She said they were delicious. Service was excellent, my coffee cup was never empty. The biggest surprise was the low price. This one joins our "go back again" list. Oh, good coffee too. read more

I wasn't sure what to expect (besides a decent meal) when we went to Duron's El Zarape for dinner; we met a family member who works there at a party a month or two ago and he convinced us to come out and give them a try....and that's what we did. After being seated and while munching on the complimentary chips 'n dip I noticed the place didn't look a that bad at all. We were seated in the "upper" level (a few steps off the main floor) near the TV playing live sporting events. The tables looked cramped but there was enough room up there for us and a large party. I ordered a Mi Jefitas Enchilada dinner with lemonade, the Wife ordered a Shredded Enchilada, both delish. Even better was the appetizer bowl of Asada Fries; one of the Top Ten here in Yuma, I believe. All served to us with enthusiastic energy by Melinda F! I didn't check the bathrooms, but the outside patio looked legit nice. The parking isn't that bad, either. Worthy of a second visit, I suggest consider making your first visit asap! read more

My friends and I came a few days ago for dinner, I had the campechana, and it was on point so we decided to come back on Saturday morning for menudo.... I can truly say, I was not disappointed! It was delicious and the modelo especial beers were nice and cold. The icing on the cake was when the owner brought us out some freshly made carnitas, buche, and cueritos. They were amazing!! This is definitely my go to place from here on in when I come to Yuma. Telling all my friends about this place too! read more

Horrible menudo and that's being kind. No flavor, meet was very tuff and rubbery. It was like boiled water with menudo. Didn't even bother trying to finish it. Wasn't worth it I should have just bought a can menudo it would have been better. Sorry guys work on your flavors add some Chile de arbol or better yet shop around and see why yours is so bad. The food was decent, nothing too special since there's so many mexican food places in Yuma you gotta be WOW. But I enjoyed it. What I was blown away by were the drinks and the owners! HUGE margaritas, I had a cucumber one and lemme tell ya, DELICIOUS and not skimpy on the alcohol. I saw a table had a huge share able drink I'll have to come back with a few friends and indulge. Living in Los Angeles for 20+ years now but being born and raised in Yuma, we are always happy to return to our hometown to visit family and enjoy some authentic Y-town food! Sure all the "usual" spots are great but this time, we were first timers to El Zarape and we were not disappointed!! This place is legit! From the amazing service, to the frosty margaritas to the flavorful and amazing food!! We went in on a Sunday and the atmosphere was great!! Football was being shown, lots n lots of patrons enjoying meals and time with families n friends. Let me say, the delicious smell when you walk in, makes you realize you've walked into a good eatery. We were so happy with our dinner, we returned this morning to enjoy breakfast before heading back to LA. Items we tried, chicken and beef fajitas (amazing - usually chicken is kinda dry & tasteless at most places but this was flavorful n delish), carne asada plate was tender and flavorful, Albondigas soup was amazing and the chiliquiles and steak was bomb!! My only suggestion would be, no potatoes n beans and just load up the chiliquiles on the plate! The red sauce was so good, you almost wanted to lick the darn plate! Fresh corn and flour tortillas were a great added touch! We had one small delay while we dined for dinner, but the owner came over, explained what happened, apologized and made sure our chips n salsa were restocked and food was delivered shortly after. Now that's great customer service! Not a single bad thing to say, both my husband n I were blown away!! We will be regulars anytime we come back home. If you haven't tried this place, GO! My girlfriend and I came to Yuma for a little get away. We've never been here and we're not familiar with restaurants etc. We had a few meals at other places that were less than good. We found Duron's via Yelp! You just get such a good vibe as soon as you walk in. I ordered the El Patron and my girl ordered the chiliquiles. We also ordered pazole. The food was absolutely delicious. Freshly made. Not some pre fab warmed up food. Made fresh!!!! Our server was just a doll. One of the owners named Daniel came over to check on us and introduce himself. By far the best food in Yuma!!!!! We will be coming back from Lake Havasu. It's THAT good. read more

The best food in Yuma hands down, and I'm raised in Los Angeles and live in Tucson. I've tried a lot of Mexican food, and this place is the real deal. Everything is made to order so be patient, you will not be sorry. My boyfriend had El patron, a steak and eggs breakfast with chilaquiles beans and tortillas, I had eggs and chilaquiles. Swung in here for a late breakfast and ordered the chorizo & eggs plate, which comes with refried beans, rice and tortillas. I have eaten my fair share of chorizo & eggs during my lifetime and was looking forward to it, as it had been a few months since my last dose. Overall the food I received was a below average / "could've been better" 2 star rating. The chorizo & eggs was overcooked / drier than I prefer with not enough chorizo goodness; and there was nothing special about the rice and beans. The flour tortillas were good, for whatever that's worth. The food wasn't hateful to the point of returning it. I just wasn't satiated with it. To each his own I suppose. The only reason this experience doesn't get a hard 2 star overall rating is because the ladies working the floor did their job quite well; as well as being friendly and amicable. I would probably go back and try something else off the menu, as friends I was visiting the area with swear by the delicious food here. We were traveling from San Diego back to Phoenix Arizona and needed somewhere to stop for dinner in Yuma. I consulted my trusty Yelp and we looked for a place to have authentic Mexican food. We drove to During and sat in the parking lot not sure we would go inside and with our car doors open the longer we stayed the more the incredible smells from the restaurant entered our car and so we decided to take a chance. I ordered the steak fajitas and had an incredible dinner full of rice beans and Angus beef perfectly cooked tender and tasteful. We also ordered the large guacamole which was done just as expected and very tasty. My father ordered the carnitas tacos and enjoyed it thoroughly. Neither one of us could finish our meal so we both had some to take home to eat at a later time. It was a great experience and a great visit. We look forward to stopping back by on our way through Yuma again in the future. read more
