It's been a long time since my original review, so time to update. I've been coming here for a while and there's several things I like about it. 1) it's always very clean and bright. 2) the service is amazingly friendly, professional and prompt. 3) the drinks are good and I like that there are clamato choices. 4) the torito. You can't leave without ordering this. 5) the menu options as a whole are well prepared and yummy. I had the bacon wrapped shrimp this time and it was so good. Also the gobernador tacos are generously portioned. We also had a campechana cocktail, but still haven't found snails in it. That's okay. It's a very nice restaurant and I believe family owned. They have nice decor fitting a seafood restaurant. The seafood is always fresh and tasty. Pricing is a bit high but understandable because of the quality of food and service. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I've been there several times with different people and they enjoy coming back. I've been meaning to write a review many times and glad I'm doing so now. A bit more pricey but overall very good. The chips and salsa, while $8, were fresh, hot, and dusted with tajin which i really liked. The salsa they came with was a bit watery but the flavor was nice. Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon and had the place to ourselves. Definitely got the royal treatment by the staff, the service was outstanding! And the food!! Just wow. The menu is pretty extensive so I had a hard time narrowing it down (everything looked so good!) but decided on the fish ceviche, a fish taco, and the gobernador marlin taco and everything was fantastic!! After 5 hours of driving through windy roads with no reception I had the task of picking out a lunch restaurant in Yuma. This was a daunting task as I am a picky pescatarian eater and Yuma is not known for it's fish and vegetarian foods. Before I got to Yuma I was checking to see if I could pick up a signal to Yelp for a place to eat before the last leg of out trip and was very fortunate to stumble on Mariscos Mar Azul. Just a few blocks from the main road, in an unexpected location we reached this local gem of a restaurant. The friendly staff opened the door for us and offered any open table in their charming dining room. The modern interior had a boho feel. I loved the eclectic decor with natural textures like rope, glass, seashells and crystals throughout. I started with a Torito, which is a gift from the gods. This signature dish contains a yellow pepper stuffed in cheese and shrimp, fried in corn batter and served with a citrus dipping sauce resulting in a delicious treat. Toritos are no secret, I noticed that every group of people in the restaurant ordered them and my biggest regret was that i shared mine and wished that I had more. If I could eat these Toritos every week I would be a happy woman. I also ordered a couple of shrimp tacos which were delicious. Very good food in my opinion. Family owned business with one other location downtown. This one is very convenient to me as a snowbird because I live quite nearby. They have breakfast burritos all day long for five dollars and I buy two or three at a time. I like them all, but they have one I believe called an Americano, which is bacon cheese, potato, and spices and it is fantastic better than an American ham and cheese omelette which you'll pay 2 to 3 times more for unlimited chips and salsa with it. The food is amazing! The staff is amazing! The ambience is amazing!! I commute to Prescott from San Diego often and always stop here for their amazing food. I love that we're regulars at a restaurant that's a halfway point in the six hour travel. Service and they nickel and dime you for salad dressing, chips & salsa. You think if you order a salad the dressing comes with it! Other places do ask you if you would like chips and salsa but don't charge you for it unless you ask for more than one serving. They had already taken our menu and asked if we would like chips and salsa then didn't say there would be a charge for them. Shame on me for not asking. Never will go there again. Started off right with a jalapeño margarita with tajin on the rim. (Only thing I got a photo of LOL) We were instructed by our son to try the Torito for an app and it did NOT disappoint! Definitely a repeat item on every visit. Then I had 2 tacos. A fried fish taco and a shrimp taco. Both amazing (insider tip, save the vinegar sauce from the Torito for your tacos!!) Husband had shrimp taco and Carne Asada taco. he said both were worthy of a reorder. I don't see how anyone could eat a full plate lunch here. I am so full! We found this place to be very good. Perhaps not the best in town for what we ordered, but still, you can tell they have quality ingredients. My fiancée and I came here for lunch, so we ordered some more basic lunch items, but I feel like their bigger dinner meals is probably where they shine. We started out with some fish flautas, which were quite delicious. The fish tasted fresh and well seasoned, the tortillas were crunchy on the sides and softer towards the center and they were topped with loads of fresh veggies and Pico de gallo. I also have to say, I absolutely LOVED the variety of hot sauce that they offer. There were many to choose from, we had a nice little tasting session and found some new favorites. For our mains, we ordered their gobernador shrimp and marlin, shrimp, and carne asada tacos. All of the fish were, again, fresh but they didn't have the flavorful explosiveness that other places in the area had in terms of tacos. I don't eat meat so I can't say anything on the carne asada, but my fiancée said she liked them well enough. We finished our meal with flan, which was the first time either of us had real, authentic flan. It was absolutely incredible, but we have nothing else to compare it to except pre-packaged store bought flan from NY, so I can't really say if it's actually the best or not. I should also add that they make a pretty solid margarita and the portion is good enough to make up for the price. Overall, this is a solid spot if you're looking for more of a meal than a quick lunch. The seafood is fresh but their tacos are a bit bland. I'd definitely give it another shot, but would try something different next time. read more
