The restaurant was a bit dark. It's point of sale order at the counter and they call your number. They were playing a Mexican band concert on the TVs which was very loud. The main server was bagging to-go orders while food sat on the station. The food was decent and came out relatively quickly. The carne asada nachos were a good deal, and I think the chips were made in-house, but the liquid cheese is not my favorite. The fish taco had a finger of fried fish. It was pretty busy so we thought we would give it a try while passing through. It was spacious inside but a lot of tables weren't clean and ready to be seated at. Pros: Food tasted really good and the restaurant was very clean. Lot's of choices and variety on the menu! The salsa bar is covered and kept cold/fresh. Serving size for the price is ok depending on what you order. Decor in the restaurant was awesome for Halloween/ Día de los Muertos, -- we loved the ambiance. It wasn't busy at all, even in late afternoon. Cons: When dining in, don't expect any service. The cashier taking our order almost seemed annoyed we were there, which didn't feel very welcoming for two first-time customers. Servers don't serve or even look very happy when you're ordering, yet their card reader requests an up-front, full-service tip at checkout when placing your order. You seat yourself after placing an order and when your number is called, you get up and go get your food. You serve yourself napkins, condiments and salsa from the salsa bar (which they didn't mention where it was, but we found it). Salsa bar was small and had a bold sign that warned something like: TAKE ONLY WHAT YOU NEED! Understandable but again, not very welcoming to feel yelled at before I've even eaten my food. The beans and rice in our meals, despite tasting really good, were plopped onto a large stainless steel serving tray, not a plate... which was weird. Friend and I couldn't help but laugh at how it felt like we were being served food in a prison. I'm not sure if this is the standard treatment for all of their guests or just a bad day? We were very kind and polite to them and we even tipped (though for what, I'm not sure now). If it's always like this, we will probably choose somewhere else next time. I ordered 2 tacos de carne asada, 1 taco de pollo, and 1 taco de cabeza. The asada and the cabeza had good flavor to them and were 10x better than the desert dry pollo (chicken). The tacos come in either a flour or corn tortilla with just shredded lettuce. I mean, where's the onion and the cilantro? There is a salsa bar with 3 different salsa, guac, pickled jalapeños, and some radishes. I tried the medium and mild salsas and they were okay, def added some kick to the tacos. Location: I do not know the area too well, but it was not hard to get to this location. There is plenty of parking outside and plenty of seating as well. Overall I like them. We eat there often and have for years, since they just had the food truck on Pacific. One of my favorite bean burritos in Yuma. My complaint is that they've gotten very stingy with salsa and guacamole for to-go orders. They don't give enough and then charge you if you want more. A quick Yelp review with positive results had us stop by Taco Monster for lunch on our way through Yuma on our way to a softball tournament. At first glance we were a bit concerned, it's not your typical taco shop decor. However the food was delicious! We ordered bean burritos and quesadillas (lent) and our daughter had beef taquitos. Everything was fresh and authentic. The cheese in the quesadillas was so good and reminded me of the quesadillas we get down in Baja. The burritos are grilled which gave it a nice crunch. Loved the salsa bar with three different red salsas and they had a delicious guacamole that we all couldn't stop raving about. While the menu doesn't have many non-meat options (no fish or shrimp), if you're a carnivore and looking for a good meal I'd give this place a try! Food needs improvement. Meat is under seasoned and it doesn't taste marinated. Service isn't bad they are friendly and the ambiance is really loud typically not for everyone. My fiancée wanted to try this restaurant out because of its keto friendly options. It wasn't a bad restaurant by any means, but I wasn't particularly great either. It was right down the middle average. I had the monster bowl with grilled vegetables and my fiancée ordered the keto quesadilla with (I believe it was) carne asada and 3 flautas. The monster bowl was okay. The rice, beans and veggies didn't really have any seasoning, so it tasted pretty bland and I had to douse it with various salsas to add flavor and heat to it. My fiancée said her quesadilla was pretty good, she enjoyed the meat inside. The quesadilla, because it's made of cheese for the tortilla, was extremely greasy and heavy which made it kind of hard to eat much of it, but what she had she enjoyed. On the other hand, the flautas were dry, bland and genuinely not good. This is one of those spots where the food isn't bad, but compared to the other restaurants in the area, you can find a lot better food for the same price. If you want tacos or a bomb ass torta, this is the place. Holy cow, thank you Yuma for such delish mexican yumminess. The food is generously served and tastes fresh. The different flavors of the layers of ingredients stand out from each other but compliments each other so dang well. I usually get the monster torta-asada. The asada meat is seasoned perfectly and not dried at all. The tacos are big and so filling. Each meal comes with a side of fresh cucumber, radishes, and lemons.
