Decided to try the Westwind Bar and Grill on Saturday. I was definitely looking forward to trying something different in the Yuma Foothills area and needless to say we will not be going back to Westwind Bar and Grill. When we walked in to the host area, we were seated quickly and provided menus. Although there were 5 staff members standing in the host area, we sat at an outdoor table for 15 minutes, not once did a server stop by to check if we had any questions or offer to take our drink order. After watching another couple being seated and their drink orders taken promptly, we walked away. Extremely dissapointing. read more

Westwind comes through again. Went Val Day with wife and mother-in-law. I had the prime rib with red mashed pot and roasted Vegies. Absolutely perfect!!! Wife and Mother had the salmon which was very dry. A simple request to replace was immediately presented with two new gigantic salmon steaks cooked absolutely perfect with some beautiful sauce. Everything was delicious! Service as always was perfect without being suffocating. Sat outside at a nice table on a perfect day. One of the best restaurants I have been to compared to anywhere. Wife ordered chicken strips I ordered the cuban sandwich, strips were heavy crusted lacking much flavor, Cuban was good but lots of oil running out of the sandwich. Not being familiar with the sandwich can't really say much just not a fan. The sandwich came with homemade chips I didn't care for them much. The strips came with fries and those were normal. Lots of confusion with their new menu people ordering things that were not available until the dinner hour. Staff worked hard to keep everyone happy. The waiter offered a discount and manager gave us $1.95 off felt like more of an fu instead of a sorry. We didn't ask for a discount so didn't matter but probably would not go back. read more

Normally I love Westwind but today's experience was not good. The waitress seemed bored and even spoke in a bored sort of monotone. After serving our food, didn't come by to see if everything was okay, and never asked if we wanted another drink. I had to get up during our meal to ask another server for more dressing. My husband had the chicken straps, which were good. I had the riblets basket, which were not good. They had a good flavor from the sauce, but were chewy. Seemed like leftovers from a day or two before. If our server had come by before we finished, I probably would have sent them back. I ate half my husband's chicken strips instead. read more

I've been here about 4 or 5 times at each time was as good as the last. They have a fish and chip night and a taco night and tonight was wings. Everything was delicious. I will say that Yuma people that we ran into that are employed in these restaurants. They all seem to be so happy and it's a lot different than other places than I've been. read more

Both my wife and I worked in the Rest/bar several years ago when they had Great management ...key word "had". They can't keep any decent managers for more than a year or two and it shows(That should tell you something). Food is hit and miss. The service sucks unless they know you from the park, and even then it depends on who you get as a server. The KJ is a good guy but the sound for Karaoki REALLY sucks. Very "clicky". read more

If Lisa is working the bar; order a 'LisaRita' and you'll get a fantastic fruity margarita- same wonderful price as a regular margarita at $4.50. Had lunch here Wednesday ( our 48th anniversary). We have been wanting to try this place for a while. It was fantastic . I had the prime rib dip and my wife had a burger. Both were delicious. The staff were very attentive and professional. It was a bit noisy due to a womens Christmas party, but that's to be expected ,at this time of year. We will be back soon. read more

I was starving tonight!!! So. If anywhere, go to Westwind. The parking Lott made me nervous. The place is packed. The hubby assured me that that despite it being busy we will get our food soon. Sat down, got the pulled pork nachos for an appetizer and a margarita! The Margaritas are dangerously good. The cup it comes in just makes it better. You would have to be silly to order anything other than the fish on a Friday. (If you know anything about kitchens) 3 pieces for $15. Seasoned well. No grease. Golden. Crunchy. It was good. The manager is fantastic! He busts his butt. Checks on the staff, checks on the customers. Bussing the tables. Friendly. Just good stuff. Our waitress was nice too. Offered us more tartar sauce. We split a Prime Rib dip with sweet potatoes and it was so delicious. Our server Rebecca was outstanding and the staff on hand was supportive and friendly. Had the carna asada torta special for lunch with a side of tortilla chicken soup. Sandwich was served with a bit of mayo on a homemade bread (torta) with a bit of mayo, threaded lettuce and small amount of diced tomatoes. The soup was the star of the show. The carna asada was dry and tough but did have good flavor. The torta - ie bread was nice. I asked for extra mayo - wish it would have come with salsa and sour cream - should have asked for that instead of mayo. Also had a glass of house Chardonnay - over priced. Friendly bar and grill with great specials every weeknight! We started going in because of convenience and would stop for dinner after playing the par 3 course on the same grounds. We keep coming in because Mike, Rocky, Jordan, and the rest of the staff are so welcoming and make us feel right at home. Karaoke on Wednesdays is always a great atmosphere, but my favorite night is the wing specials on Thursday. I was pleasantly surprised after reluctantly trying Taco Tuesday. Great place for a casual lunch! This place is located inside of a senior living style tv park, but we stopped in for a bite and were not disappointed! This place is a hidden gem. When I come to Yuma Arizona to visit my folks it sometimes hard to a good place to eat. Somebody had recommended to us to go try this place out at the RV/golf course by my folks house. Fonzie the manager is very greedy and always has a smile on his face. The staff is friendly and attentive to your needs. The food is very good I've been there three or four times now and haven't been unsatisfied yet. They have a nightly special every night of the week what makes you kinda of nice and the prices are not bad at all. Have only been there on their fish and chip Friday night. Even though it's always busy the staff works hard to keep things moving. Compared to Mr Fish & Chips, I fill the fish portions are smaller. Went for fish Friday because friends said it was good. When the meal arrived to the table it was barely lukewarm and looking like it had been sitting a while. Fish out of a fryer freshly cooked should be hot to touch and eat and this was certainly the opposite. The fish looked meaty and crispy on the outside but to touch and eat it was dense and cold and the exterior was soft and mushy like. There was no steam or heat coming from the fish/plate. It was almost as if it were fried hours prior and then placed on a tray in a warmer. Not the kind of fish fry I'd expect for $15. The fries underneath the fish we're also cold and chewy (like cold ones you'd expect from fast food chains) and coleslaw was soggy like it had been made several hours ahead or day before with a few spoiled pieces of cabbage. Even the tartar sauce had an unusual look/taste and appearance that it had been pre-cupped and sitting out for a long period of time. We arrived for an early seating and was already busy and filling up more. By the time the waitresses checked back in with us, it was much too late to say anything. After getting home shortly thereafter, i experienced sudden abdominal cramps and diarrhea. Unfortunately, it was not a favorable experience. My biggest concern and caution to others is food safety and food borne illness because it is obvious proper food temperatures are not being met. read more
