Kylie is awesome. I came in for lunch halfway home to San Diego and enjoyed a great beer and a really delicious western burger. In Chains IPA It really puts a place on the map for me when in addition to great food and drinks that they have stellar service. I felt welcome and taken care of. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Kylie had great suggestions. When I got stuck in town due to car issues I came back in and had a cool place to site while figuring out what to do. There's a hotel in walking distance. I was so impressed I even came back in for beer to go once I was all checked in. Kylie was so nice. I was broke down and frustrated but I had a friendly person who was cheering me on. I've only ever passed through Yuma traveling around the Southwest, but never stopped to check it out. I've definitely been missing out. Prison Hill is the classic brewery serving a great variety of beers and food. Lineup for the night: Chango Malo (stout), Crimin Ale (cream ale), Peanut Butter Stout. Each beer was phenomenal in mouth feel as I like the richer, creamier beers. Chango malo had a lovely cocoa flavor. Peanut Butter stout actually tasted like peanut butter without being offensive. You can taste the peanuts behind the butter. The Crimin ale had a good mouth feel but pro tip - don't have a lighter beer between two heavier ones with spicy food. It gets a bit overpowered. On the topic of food, I had the Wrecker sandwich. Soft roll, smoked meat, and crunchy slaw made for a good dichotomy of texture in the sandwich. When you see smoke rings in a bbq sandwich, you know you're eating some primo shit. I'm not a big fan of spicy though but this was the right amount between the slaw and the fresh jalapeños. I felt like deviating from the usual burger and it was a good choice. Looking around at some of the other plates, I don't think I couldve gone wrong. Solid venue, good food, good beer, great staff. I've ate here twice now. The first time was in 2023 and again in March of 2026. The first time I got "The Jail Bird" and with sidewinder fries. It was very good! Tonight I got the "Prison Hill Smoked Meat Plate" with the tri-tip and brisket with sidewinder fries and macaroni salad as my sides. I must say I was not impressed with this meal. Came back when in town to show this spot to my boyfriend. It was a quiet Wednesday, we were the only ones inside but our server/bartender was kind and friendly. But the food, was better than I remember. The chicken breast on my sandwich was so tender and cooked to perfection. Grilled onions were perfect, and they had good thousand island sauce. My boyfriend said his burger was bomb. My nieces nacho fries were HUGE. And we had a beer each. I was in town for work and did a little sightseeing on the weekend, and stopped here for lunch. I liked it so much I went back the next day. Tried the Phil Steak, the Verdict, and Elote. Usually pop in for a drink but decided to check out the new Sunday brunch menu. Super glad we did! Bar seating is usually the way to go for us with the most attentive service. We ordered the Bistro Brunch sandwich and the Yardbird and waffles. The bistro brunch sandwich was on a delightfully fluffy and well toasted focaccia with egg, arugula, tomato, prosciutto and aioli. Delicious combination with sweetness from the tomato, salty from the prosciutto and savory with the egg and aioli. Would've crisped the prosciutto a little more maybe but overall great breakfast Sammy. The yardbird and waffles was amazing! The apple cinnamon butter perfect, the waffles tasted homemade with the perfect crisp and the chicken had a great thin crisp batter with juicy thick chicken inside. Overall super impressed with this, way better than the surrounding restaurants brunch they offer, and I hope maybe they consider refreshing their lunch/dinner menu with the same fresh eyes :) the misters definitely need to be on for some outside seating since they do have a great patio with a great street view for people watching. read more

First off, the Wrecker sandwich is whack (really good!) Highly recommended. Comes with chips. The slaw and the smoked sausage are so good. The sweetness of the coleslaw with the heat of the sliced fresh jalapenos - just the right amount of heat & sweet for me. Definitely a good combo with the Valos Locos lager (No. 2). Minor ding on the sidewinder fries, as I got a thick one and it was underdone. But honestly, they're worth it - they are like a thick spiral cut fry, which is also batter dipped and fried. I liked them (hence, no ding on the overall score or recommendation!) The waitress was awesome. She definitely steered me in the right direction. The staff here is friendly, and many locals stopped in throughout the really hot (Over 100F) day. The local vibe here is really nice. Plus the music in the background is grinding (good, but not too loud). Tried the Es Bueno ESB Bitter (No. 5) and it's a bit light for me, but I'm still digging it. The multiple TVs are showing off various sports channels, and the bar is fully stocked. And I mean I counted at least 11 different flavored Smirnoff vodkas. Plus a homemade Hibiscus-flavored (bathtub?) gin? And a $10 martini made from it? Com'on, someone "roll me" in it already. Ok, they have a single malt - 12 year old Coal Il, and a *FRICK* 18 year old Bowmore? Damn. Nice. Ok, that is a definite *add* on the list of my favorite bars. I was surprised to see that here. Sure, sure, blue label Johny Walker for you posers out there. And yeah, Hibiki for those in the Suntory crowd. Ok, and they can press a growler can for those who can't get enough. Bonus for that. If you are visiting from out of town, this would be one of the places I would suggest to try!! So so Yuma! Good brews, great food, and I have always had friendly service! Definitely family friendly too. It doesn't have a "bar" feel to it, but does get pretty noisy in there. I would most certainly suggest getting the "Fish & Chips" Some of the best fish an' chips I've had! AND "The Shank" burger yum yum YUM. Also, oddly enough, they have great hot brewed coffee! I picked up a to go order while passing through Yuma -- two sandwiches with a side of potato salad and house made chips. The tri-tip sandwich was awful. The meat was so chewy it was impossible to chew enough to swallow. On top of that, the meat was bland. The melted cheese topped on it formed a weird putty when the sandwich cooled. My boyfriend took two bites, spit out the meat, and then tossed the sandwich. The side of potato chips tasted dehydrated and had the consistency of styrofoam. It didn't look burnt, but the chips tasted that way. The potato salad was ok, nothing special. The chicken sandwich was the best thing we ordered, moist and breaded well. If I had to eat there again, I would order that. I unfortunately won't be back though. Next time I'm passing through Yuma and need a bite, I'll play it safe with fast food. read more

After all these years AND Covid - They're still banging out great food & brews Spent Prez day weekend in swingin' Yuma, our first overnight there in 3 years, despite stopping for fuel while driving between Tucson and SD every couple of weeks. It's sad that many of our favorite eateries are now gone. We decided to spend dinner on Valentine's Day at another of our Yuma favorites, Prison Hill Brewing. Well, after our 3 year hiatus, they've still got the Mojo! One of our go-to dishes there was the deep fried avocado. It's still there and just as good as ever. Lightly battered and not "gooshy", it has a really delicate flavor. I could eat that all night. Great pairing with their mainstay Chango Malo Coconut Stout. For a main, I had something previously unknown to me called "The shank", a hamburger patty stuffed with mozzarella cheese and bacon with another (bonus) battered deep-fried avocado on top. This concoction is served with lettuce and tomato, all piled on a brioche bun. - Home run! Asked for it rare and I got a beautifully cooked pink patty - tough to do for the stuffed patty combo. Bravo! It was a busy Friday night on a holiday weekend and on Valentines Day. I was ready for slow and lacking service, but to my great surprise, it was prompt, engaged and genuine. Kudos to the staff. We also didn't feel rushed or hurried. I'll make sure we're back more often. read more

We had the opportunity to stop here again - this time with a group of nine to celebrate a 95th birthday. We loved the patio seating and they were quick to bring us heaters as the sun went down. Everyone loves the food selection and beverage options. The one big complaint I have is how long it takes from time of order until service. Seriously, waiting 20 minutes for a beer - at a brewery???? It wasn't a fluke - this happened last time. And we had to chase down our server to get our food orders placed and to get our bill. They really need to figure out how to get beverages out faster. What a pleasant surprise in Yuma, AZ. It's been a while since I was here, but this downtown area is really cute! But enough about that- Prison Hill Brewing - it had the best rating on the street and the really good food. Angus beef hamburgers cooked to order, grilled onions and mushrooms-YUM! Prison Hill is a fun environment if you are not looking for adult fun. The food and beers are good and the bar selection is on point! During the week family time is important! But on a Friday or Saturday night I don't want to be in a brewery with a high chair! I understand the community. But adults need their fun too and a place to get away! Also this St. Patrick's Day I asked the server what the specials were, she replied 'green beer'! After we received our food we seen the corned beef and cabbage come out. This is a pretty oldschool brewery that seems to cater more to a touristy crowd. The beer was fine. The food looked fine. Biggest bummer is that they gave me a QR code for the beer selection and when I went to the bathroom before I left I saw that they had almost double the beer on tap compared to the list on the QR code. Good pour and tasty food. This brewery located in the down town is definitely worth visiting. They offer good selection of beer as well as full bar options for those who prefer cocktails or wine. The food is equally good and there is plenty to choose from on the menu. We ordered sampler plate, hummus with pita, and salad with chicken. Food arrived on time and was well presented. Good seasoning and flavours. The fried chicken strips from the sampler plate were exceptionally good. Perfect crunch on the outside and succulent inside. Salad plate with shredded chicken was generous and tasty too. Service deserves six stars. read more
