The Good: Tasty California burger (avocado+Monterey Jack cheese) with special sauce, lettuce, tomato and onion, side of onion rings. Lacked a little seasoning but I'd order this again. Bacon cheddar burger was prepared exactly as my wife asked -- bacon crispy, burger well done. Full marks on it. Sweet potato fries were good, too. She'd order this again. Two of three staffers were quite friendly. Overall service was good Needs Improvement Server was not having a good day, seemed like. Not very friendly and I was a bit put off by no apology when I asked for a clean cup -- trace of lipstick on it. Check to see if dish washing was effective. Bottom line is this is one of the better Black Bear diners we've been to. Worth a try. read more

Once 30 minutes had passed, and my dinner was not at the table when the waitress stopped by to tell me, it wouldn't be long. I asked for a biscuit. Thank God. It was another 15 minutes before the "fish and chips "was brought to the table.. having replaced the french fries with a cup of chili, I checked it to see if it was hot it was!!! Was the coleslaw called?? it was!!! But as I looked at the three planks of fish, my heart sink. Greasy glisten of the tempera like batter concerned me.. the batter was tough and I was unable to cut it with a fork. The tartar sauce was tasty and with a squeeze of lemon on the fish I was delighted to finally have food. I was only able to eat halfway through the first piece of fish before I started peeling away the batter once all three were released from their tough greasy death shrouds... I was able to enjoy about three ounces of fish! The server was attentive and offered a fresh decaf coffee cup to go! I have no idea what was going on at Black Bear last night . Absolutely not what we have experienced previously. The chili was spicy. The coleslaw was fresh.. the 1st cup of decaf was deplorable! Better days ahead I'm hoping ! read more

Had the fried chicken and Mac and cheese bowl and turkey dinner and the tri tip. They were all delicious except the gravy was watery and no taste and the green beans were extremely salty! The bread that accompanied the Mac and cheese was delicious. The chicken was very tasty and moist inside...again the gravy on the mashed potatoes was watery and no taste. The service was very friendly and nice...Jessie was her name! read more

Easy parking. It was packed on a Sunday afternoon but we got a table within 10 minutes. I liked the chicken fried steak. I'll add a photo. I also liked their huge biscuits and gravy. I wish it was sausage gravy but it is just a good white gravy no sausage. But you can get some on the side. It's huge and we all shared from it. The chicken fried steak was good n crispy. I'll definitely go back when I am in Yuma. Pretty big portions too. read more

For my birthday we went to get my Bday gift, ordered a CHICKEN FRIED STEAK For hubby and took awhile to get it so finally got it it looked so bad, it looked VERY DRY & GRAVY NASTY. MY daughter MEAL ca me back almost cold but she didn't want to make make a fuss about, granddaughter breakfast barley warm so we were barely disappointed. Need to do better, sorry we never had this bad of a service & know our waitress tried her BEST For us, hate to complaint about our meals, especially when the meal for my BDAY was FREE. I did not want to complaint cause it was my BDAY FREE GIFT read more

Stop by this place on our way back home from the river because we love black bear diner for their breakfast! Thought we try their dinner out. When you first walk in , even though they only had 4 tables it took them awhile to seat us. Then when we did get seated it took forever for us to get our food. Service was so slow! For the amount of people on the floor it should not be like this. Turkey lacked a lot of flavor. Felt like it came out of a can. Kept on asking for a refill for water and our drink. I would not recommend coming here if you want a decent meal. read more

Good and service were top notch. Very cool traditional diner with breakfast served all day. Great spot for a quick bite on a business trip.

Black Bear Diner is a good homestyle food place in Yuma. Food was outstanding and service was even better. My server was Victor was kind courteous and efficient. Love the design of the restaurant. Service horrible, restaurant was not busy. Our server had a bad attitude, not friendly AT ALL! The food was extremely disappointing, the egg omelet looked like an egg taco, the inside was dry. My sandwich was made wrong so I sent it back and they obviously reused the frys. So remade sandwich with COLD frys. I will not be returning anytime............ Go to broken yolk instead. They couldn't possibly be as bad as Blqck Bear IS. read more

It's been awhile we had great food and great service. We had the French toast amd country fried steak. Our server Mariyah was excellent

First of all the food was great. Took way too long to receive it due to kitchen staff training so the server said. Ok, that's understandable. The server on the other hand was one of the worst. Major attitude problem and when you ask for something you get the body language and eye rolling. Mind you, as she travels back and forth by your table, she never looks at the table or asks how are things. We asked for to go boxes and she got even more irritated. So, CORINA maybe you should relocate away from customers like the back of the house doing anything away from the customers. You are a terrible server! Btw.....I requested they change the name to Polar Bear diner due to the sub zero temperature inside. Bring sleeves and pants. They won't adjust it to make the customers comfortable after several patrons requested a change. I'll stick to your take out because your indoor dining is just not worth the uninvited treatment. read more

waited 40 minutes for a table . finally got a table there were bats all over the wall and flying around us. ordered a Diet Coke, then was told the co2 cartridge was broken . placed our food order to be told 25 minutes later my meal was only order after 4pm so I could essentially order something else and hold up the rest of the order or not eat. I chose not to order anything so my families food would come out hot. it came out ice cold! Mac and cheese cold cold eggs cold fries . no one tired to make it up to us and just said oh we will take off the turkey that I ordered. place was filthy and an hour and a half later left without eating . avoid this place at all costs !!! pS no manager in sight read more

Food was all cooked good and the portions were large enough for the price. The only thing was before we left I ordered a bear claw to go and when I got home I opened it up and it was not the one I wanted in the display case. They gave we an old dried up one from at least two days old. read more

Had to wait to be seated as no host was available. Got coffee right away but that was the only thing that went well. Sitting at the counter should be fine, but after 10 minutes I flagged down the manager to ask if someone could take my order (everyone else just kept going). He took it and although the order came in a reasonable amount of time, the eggs were under cooked, couldn't tell anyone since they didn't check back or stop to see what I was waving about. This is my second and last disappointing meal at this Black Bear restaurant. read more

I took my girls out for Sunday breakfast and my daughter insisted on Black Bear Diner. Our server Natalie was attentive, polite, and respectful. She took our order and even suggested some items to really make our meal worth it. The restaurant was clean and well kept, the entire staff was engaging and playful. I witnessed them working together to clean tables. The food came out promptly and Natalie checked in on us repeatedly. It was a great breakfast and Black Bear Diner was the perfect choice. read more
