Once 30 minutes had passed, and my dinner was not at the table when the waitress stopped by to tell me, it wouldn't be long. I asked for a biscuit. Thank God. It was another 15 minutes before the "fish and chips "was brought to the table.. having replaced the french fries with a cup of chili, I checked it to see if it was hot it was!!! Was the coleslaw called?? it was!!! But as I looked at the three planks of fish, my heart sink. Greasy glisten of the tempera like batter concerned me.. the batter was tough and I was unable to cut it with a fork. The tartar sauce was tasty and with a squeeze of lemon on the fish I was delighted to finally have food. I was only able to eat halfway through the first piece of fish before I started peeling away the batter once all three were released from their tough greasy death shrouds... I was able to enjoy about three ounces of fish! The server was attentive and offered a fresh decaf coffee cup to go! I have no idea what was going on at Black Bear last night . Stop by this place on our way back home from the river because we love black bear diner for their breakfast! Thought we try their dinner out. When you first walk in , even though they only had 4 tables it took them awhile to seat us. Then when we did get seated it took forever for us to get our food. Service was so slow! For the amount of people on the floor it should not be like this. Turkey lacked a lot of flavor. Felt like it came out of a can. Kept on asking for a refill for water and our drink. Service horrible,restaurant was not busy. Our server had a bad attitude, not friendly AT ALL! The food was extremely disappointing, the egg omelet looked like an egg taco, the inside was dry. My sandwich was made wrong so I sent it back and they obviously reused the frys. So remade sandwich with COLD frys. I will not be returning anytime............ Go to broken yolk instead. We could hear her smile over the phone. When we walked in to the restaurant, we were greeted immediately by Tyra behind the counter. He seated us and immediately took our drink order. Soon after, our server, Mariyah, came to our table, introduced herself and brought us our drinks. We ordered our food and didn't wait long for it to be brought to our table. Besides the amazingly kind service and frequent water refills; the food here is fantastic!!! Compliments to the chef!! I had the red white and blue pancakes and some onion rings. The pancakes are the best I've ever tasted and the onion rings were superb!! Portions here are gigantic!! No skimping servings to be found here. Delicious!!! If we're possible to leave a one star review I would. This was my second attempt to eat at this awful restaurant and it was worse than the first time. Friday night special was fried fish and it was so hard you couldn't cut it. French fries were cold and soggy and my GF had a hamburger patty that was so dry nothing could save it.
