We headed to Los Algodones for the morning and stopped at the casino for lunch. Quechan Casino…read more(called the Q to make it easier) is owned by Quechan Tribe. The restaurant is large with plenty of seating, considering they have the buffet in it as well. There were only a few people in there when we went in for lunch. Esperanza, our server, was wonderful. She was nice and professional. She answered questions knowledgeably about the menu and took our order. She made us feel welcome and made us happy to return to the Q Casino and Ocotillo Cafe. The Ocotillo Cafe was closest to our entrance so we went in. They have daily specials was $6.95 and today's was hot turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes & gravy. The sandwich looked unusual when it was dropped off but I'm glad I got a photo then because my husband inhaled it. The mashed edge house made, the bread was very good and a tasty, thick slice of turkey covered with good gravy. They also have a soup and salad bar special for $5.25 for one trip and $8.95 for all you can eat. They give you one small salad plate and a small cup for soup. If you want more, they will bring you new dishes and you pay the all you can eat price. It was plenty of food for me for lunch. There were good selections of prepared salads, greens, veggies, toppings and salad dressings. There were two soup options that day-chicken noodle and cream of broccoli. The chicken noodle had a too strong flavor of sage-I like sage but it was too much. We asked for the check and it was only $13.27! We decided since we were in the area on occasion, to get a Player's Card. You get $5 free play (for $1 activation) so we played our free play off and took our $10.90 and left while we were ahead. That almost paid for our $13 lunch! They have a Seafood Buffet on Friday and Saturday nights. We may have to drive the hour to try it. I recommend the Quechan Cafe. Amazing prices and good food. Ask for Esperanza!

I'm here for the first time with my family and I am looking forward to a delicious country…read morebreakfast. What a beautiful setting with the mountains in the background and the Sultan sea in the front. I ordered: eggs sausages, hash browns, Rye bread, a short stack of pancakes, and biscuits and gravy. It was hearty and delicious. For a restaurant that is in the middle of nowhere, they know how to make a good breakfast! Friendly: 5 Stars***** Service: 4 Stars**** Pancakes: 3 Stars*** Eggs: 3 Stars*** Biscuits and gravy: 4 Stars**** Sausages: 4 Stars**** Hash Browns: 3 Stars*** Pricing: 3 Stars*** Remember, as far as buying food or drinks you are in the middle of nowhere, so the cost is not cheap. I was told they go shopping every Wednesday for supplies, so understand that when purchasing something! But the people are super nice and friendly and that makes up for pricing in my book.

Thursday is pizza night. NOT open all year; just mid -October through March, 8 am to 7 pm , daily. You can get a free pass to enter the property if you're just going to eat here. Or purchase a spa pass to soak in springs, or stay the night (RV, tent, rental home). I had a bean veggie burger for dinner, and eggs/hash browns/ biscuit for breakfast. I am quite literally a happy camper!
